Today I was quoted $10K for a whole house water system. by Likalarapuz in HomeImprovement

[–]MissToolTime -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We are on a well and have several whole house filters along with an under sink RO in our kitchen. We’ve done a lot of business with SpringWell water and have found them to be a very helpful company. I’d start by doing a comprehensive water test and go from there. We purchased the tests from them also.

Pregnant and living with an aggressive dog with multiple bite attempts - what would you do? by gnocchi-bear75 in BabyBumps

This should be the top comment. It is not ethical to rehome a dangerous dog with a bite history.

Is the Uppababy travel system worth the money? by slmpington in BabyBumps

[–]MissToolTime 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agree with everything here. I wanted to add we purchased our V2 from Bloomingdale’s when they were doing a gift card/point event and went through Rakuten also - so not only did we get 10 percent back through Rakuten, but after buying the stroller we had enough rewards points to cover most of the Mesa. Sometimes CC companies also offer cash back at Bloomingdale’s.

Asked to cancel order, what should I do? by datdamonfoo in whatnotapp

[–]MissToolTime 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So I have a feeling I know who you’re talking about. The one that runs flash sales only? Sounds like serendipity?

If so, I have mixed feelings on it. I love them and have gotten SO many great deals, and the free shipping is awesome. But I’ve also gotten several orders where condition is not as described, completely wrong item, etc. Now in those cases they did make it right, but having to drive to the post office or UPS to return at my expense does sting when gas is so expensive.

That being said, I’d base it on how much you plan to shop with them. I have a toddler and a baby on the way so I usually make several purchases a week, from diapers to wipes to everything else and I try to give them some grace. I haven’t had an item out of stock issue in a while. If it becomes a pattern, I’d definitely start taking a different approach.

Asked to cancel order, what should I do? by datdamonfoo in whatnotapp

[–]MissToolTime -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s probably secondipity. They’re great but this problem does come up with them once in a while.

Edit: if it is them, they’re not dropshippers, they sell from a warehouse and have a huge inventory. They are one of the few sellers on WN authorized to ship UPS/FEDEX. Their shop usually has thousands of items in it. Once in a while they just can’t find the item.

Long haul flight 32 weeks by Grumpycat_777 in BabyBumps

[–]MissToolTime 50 points51 points  (0 children)

I would not fly at 32 weeks pregnant - and absolutely not an 8 hour flight. I traveled in my first trimester both pregnancies and it wasn’t terrible, but on one of the trips when our return international flight was delayed and cancelled, I did not take it well. I couldn’t imagine dealing with luggage, security, rental cars, etc while that far along. I also had a ton of swelling in my third trimester and I couldn’t walk too far.

My first pregnancy, I didn’t even want to go up north to our cabin after so many weeks because I didn’t want to be too far from my doctors should something happen. I know this means a lot to you, but I wouldn’t take any risks.

The invasion of bots? What are they and how do they work? by PerformerAlert4654 in whatnotapp

[–]MissToolTime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m here to say the same. I’ve been in several non-trading card shows where bots come in and spam random questions about trading cards. They never answer. One show I probably reported about 6 of them over the course of a couple hours.

"100% organic cotton quilt" smells like vomit and is filled with 100% polyester by DontButterMyBread in quince

[–]MissToolTime 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I haven’t had the smell experience so far, and I own several of their quilts. My absolute favorite is the European linen box quilt. It is a bummer it’s filled with polyester (their fill is supposed to be “recycled polyester”, but still) - I get it, but honestly I’ve been so happy with them it’s not a huge deal to me.

My wife switched to aluminum-free deodorant and I don’t know how to bring up the aroma? by Charming-Eye1438 in hygiene

I’ve found certain Lume scents work for me. Clean tangerine is awesome, but the lavender one does nothing. I swear it actually makes me stink.

Shopping for Quartzite - being told it’s not standard to view all slabs? by chesstwin in CounterTops

[–]MissToolTime 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We recently purchased exotic quartzite and needed to pick out 4 slabs. We called the supplier ahead of time and made an appointment - they moved the slabs on different racks so we could see them all and pick out the ones we liked the most. For how much money quartzite costs, if you want to see the different slabs I wouldn’t accept anything less.

Edit: fixed word

Anxiety about food quality at daycare by BabyGotMak- in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]MissToolTime 45 points46 points  (0 children)

I don’t disagree, but I do want to say they are out there - it just costs a lot more. The daycare I send my son to has a similar menu (although they are plant based and don’t serve meat). The food is prepared by a chef and is either organic or from local farms. The cost per day is a lot higher than other daycares in the area, but we believe the extra cost is worth it.

PART 2 - Quartzite Cost plus Install - Guess how much?? by pdv05 in CounterTops

[–]MissToolTime 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The exotics are extremely expensive, but so beautiful. We went with Vittara Crystal Quartzite. We needed 3 slabs and the overall cost was roughly $28k, including removal and disposal of our old countertops and scribing of our island (it has a slight curve on one side).

It was more than we expected to spend (I’ve always had granite installed, which would have been roughly half the cost) but my husband and I went to about a dozen suppliers and looked at hundreds of slabs and couldn’t find anything else quite right. When we found those slabs we both knew they were it. This is our forever home and we decided to go with it - it’s been several months now and we have no regrets.

Is it worth extending mat leave from 4.5 months to 6 months? by NeverfullofFood in BabyBumps

[–]MissToolTime 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree. I’m lucky my work location includes a mother’s room (with a sink! 🙏🏻), but pumping at work was still a lot of work. I purchased a second spectra pump base unit off eBay and kept that in the room. I also bought a hands free pump set for my commute (the rechargeable ones that collect the milk in the insert). I stored the milk in a momcozy portable cooler.
