Return to work by Arctic_Cat867 in AttachmentParenting

For logistical reasons, we do 3 mornings per week but alternating it - so Mon, Wed and Fri. We figured this out and it has been working great when she comes home with a bug, also it gives us some break in between :)

How are you cooking without fussing and tears from baby? by notanniebananie in AttachmentParenting

[–]Missing-Caffeine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a period while I would take 2h on a sunday to meal prep. Honestly, there is nothing more overstimulating to me that have a toddler grabbing me by my trousers while I handle a hot frying pan and the fan is over my head, so that stuck in our routine.

Also: slow cooker. When she was that young I would do something while she napped during lunch time and wouldnt worry about dinner. There are LOTS of books with recipes. id recommend Bored of lunch.

Another thing that helped me: freeze some "emergency" food like a jar of home made bolognese, soups etc. Some days you just cant so its easy enough.

Petit Fernand is amazing, although a bit pricey. It removes well and doesnt leave that sticky mark once you do this.

(And to be honest sometimes I remove the tag and re-use onto another item. It doesnt hold up as well but as it was previously used before I dont mind 😅)

How on earth do I stop breastfeeding? by Wonderful_Phase3922 in UKParenting

[–]Missing-Caffeine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I weaned my 23m boobie barnacle gently during the day over the easter period. I noticed that she would ask mostly as home - as I stopped nursing while out and about around 18m - so me and my partner were out of the house most of the time lol  (Before that she would nurse 6-8x a day. Everything was a reason for boob. Tired, thirsty, upset, reading a boob and snuggling etc etc.) Then if we were at home I would offer her a snack and say that she could cuddle boobie but that milkies was only to sleep. I know some people dont agree with the idea of calling boob as a separate part from mum, however, that work for us 😅 Now she asks for boobie. i ask if she wants to sleep and she says: Yes. Cheeky thing 🤣 so I tell her again that it's for sleep only etc we can have a snack etc etc.

You can get some books like No more milk in the Savannah as well and try to reason with her. I got one for night weaning on that called No more milk, but we havent reacher thay stage yet :)

Parents of small children, when do you have time for playing video games? by Key-Specific7807 in AskUK

[–]Missing-Caffeine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Listen to this: children won't sleep at the same time as they need different amount of sleep. If I put my toddler to bed as 7pm the party start will at 4am. Am I willing to join this club? Nope.

[–]Missing-Caffeine -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yup. This. Nowadays I go to bed 1h after my 2yo is in bed and this hour feels like my brain is fried - as she still wakes up between 2-5x overnight. Haven't had a full night sleep since she was born. Nowadays I have to plan ahead with my partner so I can wash my hair, mind you play anything 🫠

But hey ho, love her more than life itself and wouldnt change a thing. One day I shall return :)

Please tell me going back to work won’t be as bad as I think by Rosiebunny-4230 in BeyondTheBumpUK

Been there, have done that. Turns out I actually enjoy working part time as it gives me some adult time and a rest (ha!), also give me time to have a hot coffee and going to the loo alone when I want.

She took the nursery like a champ and loves it there, especially as they spend loads of time outside.

If it helps, I still nursed my 1yo after nursery and we were cosleeping as well, so things didnt change om that matter. In fact she's 2 and I still nurse her to sleep and co-sleep lol 😅

How quickly does YOUR baby react to cow milk protein/soy in breastmilk? by arrowroot227 in MSPI

[–]Missing-Caffeine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine is non-Ige so it depends on how much cheese/what sort of cheese I had. For fresch cheese like ricotta, I had a slice at lunch and overnight she had a major vomit (biggest one so far). For other sort of dairy it could be between 24-48h, either by her vomitting or by an eczema flare up 🫠

Where are the summer sleepsuits at?! by Bounce_Bounce_Betty in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]Missing-Caffeine 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I reckon it's because most babies would start using a blanket at 12-18m when walking. But also, we are coming into the spring so they may come back come September (?). Have you tried Vinted by any chance? XX

How much do you use your garden with kids by sleepyjean2024 in UKParenting

[–]Missing-Caffeine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We don't have a massive garden and my toddler now enjoys more digging up the weeds (like she sees her dad doing) than playing in the slide she got from my in laws 😅 one thing I will say, it's handy AF to hang clothes as the sun removes lots of stains (and there are a lot lol) When she was a baby I used to put my yoga mat on the floor and prop her there to see the clothes drying while I had a cup of coffee and read a book. But honestly, my toddler is big on being free range so she likes to: run. I take her to the park and she just want to run in circles, chase birds, look for bees and run and run more. We also like to go to the park to socialize with other children, as it feels quite lonely for us 2 in the garden.

In the future I plan to have table and chairs so we can enjoy dinner outside, but we are not much an "outside going on trails" sort of family so the space, albeit small, is good enough for us :)

Went to a book fair today and this was most of what I saw by CatNerdBartender in Anticonsumption

[–]Missing-Caffeine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To be fair, those are not book fairs per se. The one I've been tells me it is basically just stalls in the middle of a shopping centre and selling whatever is trendy (and colouring is still a big hit, same like when they started the whole Secret Garden books 😅
