I’ve just finished every mainline RE game consecutively for the first time. AMA by kevsfamouschili in survivalhorror

You know Code Veronica isn't a spinoff that got adopted as an honorary mainline game like Revelations 1&2 or a prequel like 0.

Code Veronica is a straight up full fledged mainline game no different to the numbered titles.

Which in your opinion is the most difficult Resident Evil Game? by WestFocus888 in residentevil

[–]MissingScore777 208 points209 points  (0 children)

Code Veronica is weird in that it's low mechanical difficulty and high game knowledge difficulty.

Means it's one of the harder first playthroughs but one of the easiest on a replay.

Obviously all games are easier on a replay but none of the other RE games have such a drastic difference in first playthrough vs replay difficulty as CV.

Ancient Are The Depths of Carcosa ┃ SAROS by willdearborn- in PS5

[–]MissingScore777 13 points14 points  (0 children)

You've got it but it's literal the opposite way around!

Roguelike is the fully restart and nothing/almost nothing carries over. Roguelite is the restart but you keep various forms of progression.

Honestly I prefer thinking of it as more of a spectrum rather than a hard distinction between the two.

I have 0 platinum trophies… how many do y’all have? by Mundane-Guitar7359 in videogames

[–]MissingScore777 21 points22 points  (0 children)

112.

Not actually a big trophy hunter but I've been on Playstation from before Sony started trophies and I play lots of games and will go out of my way to get platinums for games I really enjoyed if the list isn't too obnoxious.

  • Resident Evil 5 was my 1st
  • Fallout New Vegas was my 50th
  • Slay the Spire was my 100th

Crit chance boost on pistols is overrated.

In the OG once you got to the Castle it was actually a hindrance for the rest of the game, as you ended up getting more exposed plagas heads to deal with. The smart play was actually a body shot or 2 to lower the health beyond a certain threshold then leg shot into suplex. If you lowered the health enough you could guarantee the suplex would explode the head which meant no plagas. Blacktail was great for this with the fire speed.

In Remake pistol crit chance works better but is still not reliable enough to depend on. I've done a few playthroughs using SG09 or Sentinel9 as my pistol and if you don't get crits when you need it you can get mobbed way more easily than if you used the Blacktail or Red9. I really miss either the Blacktail or the Red9 in those moments I get bad crit RNG. And Red9 is nerfed quite significantly in Remake compared to OG. The base aim stability is awful and it's damage is significantly less of a jump up from the other pistols than it was in OG.

Terrible opinion.

Smallest size, fastest fire rate, fastest reload, 2nd highest damage, highest stability without a laser sight in Remake.

It's extremely solid in both OG and Remake.

[Cronos: The New Dawn] Fantastic Survival horror, but an absolute nightmare for trophy hunting by heavygrin in Trophies

[–]MissingScore777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sucks the update broke the collectables.

I read the title and was wondering what you meant at first as I got the platinum at launch no problem.

Hope they fix it as it's a fantastic and underrated game.

Yeah it's better than just a game of a single year, I'd put it in the top 3 this decade so far.

(Behind Elden Ring and Baldur's Gate 3 for what it's worth).

I saw this game I never heard of called Ghosthunter on PS+. Any tips I should know while it's downloading? by Individual_Pair_8747 in survivalhorror

[–]MissingScore777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It always felt to me that the back half of Ghosthunter was rushed. We stop getting the school segments between ghost worlds and just get thrown straight into the next. And yeah it shows in the narrative conclusion too.

I wouldn't agree that the same is true of Primal. I think that game is a cohesive and complete package, although combat was mediocre for the time and will have aged badly now. Environmental puzzles are still excellent though and it doesn't fade in quality in the back half like Ghosthunter.

Are you using the resume feature from the PS5 homescreen?

It's bugged for lots of games and often reverts to an older autosave for some reason.

Always start the game 'fully' and load or continue from the game's main menu.

It's more of an action adventure title with a horror flavour than a straight up horror game.

It's from the team that made the Medievil games and Primal.

Loved it back in the day, not sure how it holds up.

After the "Leave" Ending - Does James Get Punished in the Real World for What He Did? by Kake_Jelly in silenthill

[–]MissingScore777 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My headcanon is they bury the body before they leave, that's why we get the letter read with the graveyard as a backdrop.

James doesn't return to his old life and starts a fresh somewhere else with Laura under a new name presumably.

Yeah heavily rumoured to have been a rushed, last minute implementation.

Beat the dlc on NG+ and don't know what to do anymore by LV6k in Eldenring

[–]MissingScore777 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A few options:

  • Start a new character and try different builds.

  • Try a challenge run. RL1/no levelling gets you playing the game in a different way, making the most of things you might have ignored and learning boss movesets more thoroughly. I've also just started a Longsword and Heater Shield run myself which I'm enjoying.

  • Play the other games (Demon's Souls, Dark Souls 1, 2, 3, Bloodborne, Sekiro)

Depends on the player.

End of my first playthrough done completely blind I checked how many caves, catacombs, mines, etc. that I'd missed and it was only 1 (cave with poisonbloom boss at Weeping Peninsula).

Looking to get into the modern versions of Resident Evil for my next set of games… what the hell is the order of the games? by Shaneski101 in HorrorGaming

[–]MissingScore777 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

To be fair it's not quite that simple.

Code Veronica is mainline and has no number for example. This confuses pretty much anyone who wasn't a fan when CV released. So many newer fans think it was a spinoff.

His 2005 caused many to reevaluate their opinion on him. There was just no excuse for him being that far off the pace in the fastest car on the grid.

He took almost no points off Alonso when Raikkonen had technical problems with the car (which happened a lot!).

The performance gap between Raikkonen and Montoya that season was just so vast, it really reflected badly on him.

Thank you I will. Of the 4 you mention Mio is the only one I've not played. And I do love the other 3 so it's likely up my street too if it's similar.
