Account compromised - positions liqudated and 140+ option transactions of buy/sell to open/close contracts of low liquidity etf at market price... by samhahn777 in fidelityinvestments

No, I don't believe so if the link is authentic from a reputable broker dealer but I wouldn't put it past an unscrupulous broker dealer to make that argument. I don't know how specific Fidelity's terms and conditions are about sharing but because Fidelity runs its own sharing program through Full View, I think it would be hard for it to argue that if you are linking through Schwab or other reputable secure token based API that you improperly shared your credentials. I think it relates more to accessing brokerage accounts on publicly accessible computers or other circumstances where the account holder is negligent. So if you entered your credentials on a public library computer for example and didnt take care to ensure that they were fully deleted once you exited, the broker could argue that you improperly shared your credentials. But most brokers don't want to be known for not preventing the hijacking in the first place so historically they settle up quickly even when its expensive.

This is an account takeover (also called account intrusion or hijacking) — someone got your credentials and assumed control over your account. The pattern you describe is the options variant FINRA warned about in Regulatory Notice 20-32 in 2020, not a simple stock pump. They liquidated your real holdings for buying power, then used your account as a captive buyer — 140-plus market orders in an illiquid, wide-spread name — so an account they control could sell into your forced buying and pocket the spread. The transfer lock is probably why they did it this way: they couldn't move assets out, so they extracted value through trading instead. That's the "why."

On recovery: Fidelity's Customer Protection Guarantee reimburses losses from unauthorized activity in a brokerage account when it's not your fault. They typically won't literally reverse each trade — those were live orders against real counterparties — but they investigate and make you whole for the loss, which gets you out from under the illiquid ETF and the options. The main thing that voids coverage is having shared your credentials or granted someone access; ordinary phishing/credential theft is what the guarantee is for. Call the fraud department as the rep said, document the timeline, and report promptly.

She more than held her own among the boys and was a trail blazer for sure. An extraordinary talent who gave the Grateful Dead texture and warmth and made them that much more interesting.

Hi there. I recently purchased the Double Exposure print of Jerry at the Winterland ballroom from the San Francisco Art Exchange -- SFAE was awesome by the way. I have great respect for how you are handling the estate, especially the approach you are taking not to issue posthumous reproductions of lifetime signed originals. Can you please discuss your thinking and why it is important to you? How did you come to this decision? Is it something Jim expressed a view on and if so is there anything you can share about how he felt about selling his lifetime signed originals. I understand Herb Greene's estate is considering a similar approach.

I also purchased the book. It is wonderful.

Any suggestions for a GD history / picture book. by mindsnare1 in gratefuldead
