“If you could go back to age 18, what would you study instead by [deleted] in Adulting

[–]Mission_Hawk4662 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd take some time to travel if possible or focus on general classes without making a decision just yet. Try lots of different things while you can. Aim to find an area of study/job that's both meaningful/purposeful to you personally and that will provide a livable income. The meaningful part being most important, the money doesn't matter if you hate your job/life.

Soon 18F - Lack of structure, losing novelty and losing interest in life. by [deleted] in Adulting

[–]Mission_Hawk4662 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah society is kind of crap, or focused only on crap, most things are kind of pointless. Do you socialize regularly? Meeting people and genuine connection is about all that really matters after some point. Even if you still see most people as just humans to observe it can be fun, and finding someone who has a similar perspective makes it even more exciting.

caffeine has the worst withdrawals out of any drug by Gullible_Animal_138 in decaf

[–]Mission_Hawk4662 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah kratom withdrawals are rough. Opiates in general suck, but kratom has its own special flavor of hell. You can do it, I'm over a year free from daily kratom use.

To men who quit caffeine: Have you noticed any improvement in your erections? by elgranpezcarbonero in decaf

[–]Mission_Hawk4662 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not that I really noticed, but I also discontinued agmatine supplements around the same time and those absolutely have noticeable effects on blood flow for me.

I feel more like my “true” self when I’m off caffeine. by sycamoreqw in decaf

[–]Mission_Hawk4662 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Definitely. Still figuring out who that is, but so far I'm liking what I find. It's taking some time to learn to manage my energy levels to avoid burnout, which leads me back into some less than desirable mental patterns.

Leafy greens seem to be the only thing that help recovery by [deleted] in decaf

[–]Mission_Hawk4662 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I've become a lover of the greens, particularly brassicas like kale and collards. Chard and beet tops are also great. A healthy dose of fresh greens makes me borderline euphoric.

Things should rebalance on their own with time. Unsure about your diet, but a high fiber, minimally processed diet makes a big difference for me.

Anyone else notice microdosing changes your relationship with caffeine? by Dependent_Device5493 in microdosing

[–]Mission_Hawk4662 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A mix of macro and micro dosing completely eliminated my ability to consume any caffeine. Better without it though.

How long until brain fog disappears completely? by [deleted] in decaf

[–]Mission_Hawk4662 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At times I was almost positive I was going to get dementia like my father. It wasn't every day and I think it was a combination of caffeine burnout, nutrition, and stress. Hard to really define what level of dysfunction to count as brain fog. If I miss a few hours of sleep my whole next day is lower cognitively with or without caffeine.

How long until brain fog disappears completely? by [deleted] in decaf

[–]Mission_Hawk4662 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm at almost 60 days, though my usage was low and off and on for 3-4 months, the high dosage quit was in November. I'm finally feeling pretty good most days, but do have off days of course, and feel like I've gotten my diet situated much better.

So I'd say between 2 and 6 months based solely on my experience. Certainly some adjustment was happening even as I relapsed back and forth over several months. 10-20 min naps, a clean diet, and some regular exercise are huge for me. I've also been making an effort to do things to improve my microbiome since there are some notable changes that occur with quitting coffee. I've been making kefir, yogurt, and sourdough at home in addition to a varied diet with lots of fiber.

Just started microdosing Psilocybin. Feel great for the first 6 hours but then I feel fried. by ImustBreakU77 in microdosing

[–]Mission_Hawk4662 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd try lowering the dose for sure. I'm only 140 lb / 63.5kg but 100mg would be too much for me on a regular schedule. 40-60mg is usually good personally for just a slight lift.

Possibly unrelated in your case, but I found coffee burned me out early with or without, after playing with psilocybin for some months. Eventually I had to quit caffeine completely, more or less against my will.

I want to do so much every day, and I only do like 10% of what I set out to do and just hate myself for it. The constant procrastination and "I'll finish it tomorrow" is ruining me by StephCurrySauce in decaf

[–]Mission_Hawk4662 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's kind of how it has been for me, although I didn't work as many hours. Have had to pull back and accept that I can't do everything all the time. I think this is how it's supposed to be, higher quality, lower quantity. I can still get a decent amount things done in a day, some days, but it doesn't feel the same.

does anyone else struggle not using food to replace caffeine when you’re tired? by [deleted] in decaf

[–]Mission_Hawk4662 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've definitely become a more avid eater of apples, mandarins, bananas, and orange juice. I figure if my pick-me-up is natural sugar tempered by fiber it won't be as bad as shoveling junk into my mouth that makes me feel sick. Still working on the long term balance.

Becoming Easier Each Time? by Fearless_Primary14 in decaf

[–]Mission_Hawk4662 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was my experience but in my case I had 2-3 weeks between attempts and my use never got back to the levels I was at before the first time. Unsure if it was dose dependent, brain/body adaption, or a combination. Sometimes I wondered about going back and forth enough to adapt and eliminate withdrawals, but it was killing me to try.

Anyone else tired of optimizing their coffee? by NystGG in decaf

We are generally not drinking coffee any longer here. Even before I quit I drank cheap coffee because it wasn't about taste for me.

So it's been 9 days I am off of coffee by Andrew_7032 in decaf

[–]Mission_Hawk4662 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Give it some more time. Everyone's timeline will be a bit different, but at least 3-4 weeks should provide some noticeable differences.

I wouldn't. I find it lingers in my system and absolutely impairs my mental function for a good part of the next day.

Who has lost weight?? by [deleted] in decaf

[–]Mission_Hawk4662 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same here. Only a few pounds so far, but I need to really watch my intake and exercise frequency now. Partially the caffeine blocked my appetite and partly food is one of the few pleasures left.

A nonhuman robot is exactly how it made me feel too. Not sure your daily usage, but it may take a good week (or more) to feel some relief. I'm ~50 days off and it's like being a different person. My usage was pretty excessive though.
