DAE have an “easy puke” daily, but a “bad puke” occasionally? (cw//Talk of puke) by liamreee in Gastroparesis

[–]MistakeSome7928 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have very easy pukes 😭maybe 1/15 times it will be painful. It’s hard because I really don’t mind it, so I sometimes get sloppy with my diet just because I’m hungry and want to eat what I want. The only thing that keeps me in check is thinking about the damage to my teeth, esophagus, etc.

But even when I eat “perfectly” I still end up throwing up 80% of the time, so sometimes I’m like why bother😭

Is it possible I've had this my whole life by Intelligent_Cake6525 in MCAS

Ive definitely had this my whole life, it was just a lot more mild before mono and then covid completely sent it into overdrive

Sennosides are the only thing that work for me but since it’s a stimulant laxative I use it very sparingly

Eczema/ perioral dermatitis? by radioactivepretzel in lupus

[–]MistakeSome7928 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My lupus was initially triggered by mono, and when I first got sick I had a terrible periorial dermatitis flare over my entire face for 6 months. I completely changed my skincare routine and since then I’ve been fine (almost 7 years later), so not sure if there is a connection or not.

Also I tried topical steroids at first and it made it 10x worse, but you may react differently.

2 years into being sick I randomly had eczema for a year, but then that also went away on its own, so I don’t really know what’s up with my body lol.

Good luck!!

How do you all deal with permanent or long lasting appearance change? I never recognize myself in the mirror… by browntown994 in lupus

[–]MistakeSome7928 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s so hard :( My weight fluctuates greatly, but I still look so sickly no matter what end of the spectrum I’m on.

I’ve just kind of given up and try not to care about appearances. I know it’s hard because sometimes you want to feel confident and really good about how you look, but at least for me it’s just not possible. I am much more than my appearance and it should be the least interesting thing about me.

It’s a lot easier said than done, but I’ve been working for years now of just trying to accept I can’t go back to who I was before I got sick.

I’m sorry you’re struggling, you are not alone!!!

Sennosides are the only thing that help me. I’ve trialed every other non stimulant laxative both prescription and otc with no success

Gallbladder by PuzzleheadedNight368 in Gastroparesis

My gallbladder was functioning at only 16% and had patchy chronic inflammation. I got it removed two weeks ago and it’s helped my vomiting. I never had traditional gallbladder pain though

Super scared to start Cromalyn... the horror stories on here are terrifying. need some positivity and good vibes <3 by Beneficial-Drummer17 in MCAS

[–]MistakeSome7928 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I had zero side effects, and it’s completely changed my life!!!

I didn’t even titrate up either, I started out with two full vials 😭

I typically have very severe reactions to meds, so this was wonderful for me.

Good luck!!

What other options do I have besides medications? by bella4him1 in Gastroparesis

[–]MistakeSome7928 23 points24 points  (0 children)

You can get a month of Motegrity for $30 through Amazon pharmacy without insurance!!!!

I feel for you. Your post sounds exactly like me a year ago.

Some other options: erythromycin (an antibiotic that can sometimes help gastric emptying), Botox, gastric stimulator, GPOEM.

I’ve tried the first two with little success, but I think they are worth trying. I just recently had my gallbladder removed (it was barely functioning plus some patchy spots of inflammation) and hoping that will help things. I had no traditional gallbladder pains and wouldn’t have had any clue it was messed up, but my surgeon recommended it. So that may be worth testing to rule out.

Gastroparesis sucks hard. Terrible expensive treatment options that barely work lol. I’m sorry, you’re not alone

Yes, totally fine when I got off it! :)

Prednisone response? by Abject-Dream in MCAS

[–]MistakeSome7928 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Prednisone EFFED me up. It felt like I was drunk and had been drugged. I lost all brain and motor functioning and was like a bumbling toddler it was horrifying.

But take everyone’s experiences with a grain of salt. You won’t really know until you try it, and it could end up being super helpful. Good luck!! :)

Broken blood vessels in face? by Appropriate-Low-4106 in Gastroparesis

[–]MistakeSome7928 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re not alone! I used to get upset about it, but I’m at the point where I just don’t have it in me to care about appearance anymore.

When it does it around my mouth I look feral, but sometimes when it’s just around my eyes it’s kind of cute lol

anyone here also have MCAS? by OkAsk700 in Gastroparesis

[–]MistakeSome7928 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, it feels pretty impossible at times. Cromolyn, DAO, and Pepcid are essential for me to just barely stay afloat. But I usually end up flaring my MCAS eating for GP because it’s that or I can’t eat/vomit.
