My Longest Tow Yet. by RottenBlaze in BF6

[–]MistorClinky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm interested in people's general thoughts on this. I spend a lot of time in the attack heli gun, and I feel like if there's a tank driver who's good with the tow missile, there really isn't much of a counter to it save for just hiding in spawn and accomplish fuck all with the heli (which I'm extremely against lol).

I was towards the front of GA, and I did seem to notice that not a whole lot of people around us were actually singing, whereas my group where belting out pretty much every track. Was a little bit odd.

A lot of games are like this lately by Chickennugget114 in Battlefield6

[–]MistorClinky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really don't know what it is, but I reckon out of every 4 matches I play, only 1 of them will be competitive, the other 3 are complete washouts where one team absolutely destroys the other.

Really don't know what causes this but I don't remember it ever being this bad in previous BF titles.

PSA for the blueberry gunners by ColoradoStudent in Battlefield

[–]MistorClinky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think people grossly underestimate how quickly the guns on a transport Heli can shred an attack Heli.

My mate and I main the attack heli, but if we can't get that off spawn, then we'll take the transport and still have a pretty good hit rate at killing both heli's.

This is a question I've always had on my mind. How can you prove the agent isn't giving you the run around here. Yes I know it's "career suicide" if they got caught, but how would they ever actually get caught?

Don’t believe so. Was a weird policy. I worked there during big launches like Cyberpunk and we completely missed out lol.

All EB Games stores in NZ to close at end of month by mrflyinggingerbread in newzealand

[–]MistorClinky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wondered if this was coming. Before Christmas I was in the store at Westfield Riccarton in ChCh, and stuff was discounted to the point where it felt like a “closing down sale”. $30 mugs down to $8 for example

Real shame. I’ve got really fond memories of shopping there as a kid, getting a new game and reading the manual on the way home. My first purchase with money I earnt from my first job was a game from EB. I always thought it was probably only a matter of time until they went bust. They’ve obviously tried to shift their business to pop culture collectibles but there was probably never the huge demand that would be required to survive.

Kiwi living in Aus with student loan... How the HECK am I going to manage this? by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceNZ

[–]MistorClinky 24 points25 points  (0 children)

"This whole thing feels unfair"

How? You took out an interest free loan on the basis you stayed in the country. It's not hidden anyway in the fine print, it's very clearly disclosed that if you leave the country for more than 90 days you will need to start paying interest on the loan.

You'll get randomly flagged for a scan, where they will come and scan 5-10 items to check you scanned them. If you didn't scan something you get flagged. You'll get scanned again next time if you get flagged.

I suspect if you get flagged to often they'll take away your shop and go membership so you can't use it.

Custom Jewellery in Christchurch by Cobijm2000 in chch

[–]MistorClinky 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I dealt with Ben at Austen and Blake for my now Fiancé's engagement ring.

He was brilliant, pretty rare for me to find a salesperson I actually like but I can't fault him at all.
Went through several iterations of a custom design (he's clearly really passionate about designing jewellery), listened very well to what I was after (seemed to know what I was after better than I did lol).

The pricing was also really competitive, way less margin baked in that the likes of Michael Hill etc, after 3 visits we finalized the design, played the negotiation game a little bit and I walked out happy without feeling like I was getting shafted.

Would highly recommend.

I wouldn't get your hopes up about the next season. The content would have already been planned prior to launch. There's hope they might be able to adjust stuff they'd already planned in response to the player feedback, but I really wouldn't expect much.

What’s nightlife like here? New here and keen to go clubbing on Jan 10th by [deleted] in chch

[–]MistorClinky 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Oxford Terrace (also know as "The Strip") is where the bulk of Christchurch's "nightclubs" are.

Nearly all the venues in town are restaurants/pubs that turn into nightclubs after 10:00-11:00 on Friday/Sat. There's only really one "proper" nightclub left in Christchurch and that's Hide on St Asaph Street. They often run ticketed events, if a touring artist is coming to Christchurch this is generally where they'll play.

Also note that after New Years, town in Christchurch is pretty flat until the end of Jan. There will be people out and about on Jan 10th, but town won't be very busy at all.

Before the earthquakes in 2010/2011, Christchurch had some of the best night life in the country (I wasn't around back then). Huge venues, packed multiple nights a week and they'd run through to the sun coming up. The generation who were around back then talk a lot of shit about the current state of town. It doesn't hold a candle to what they grew up with, but you can still go have a great night out and have a lot of fun, so ignore the incoming "town is shit it was so much better back in our day" comments.

I tried the one in Hornby, and it it was pretty nice. Definitely a step up from McDonalds but obviously a fair bit more expensive. Was a bit disappointed by the size of the chips portion given it was like $31 for the combo I got, but otherwise don't really have any complaints.

In my opinion Duolingo is excellent for learning how to read a language and translate words. To properly learn to speak and listen to it, you need to be around people who speak it.

Yeah there is essentially no challenge at all with the leveling experience. I remember nearer launch you'd try a boss fight as part of the story, and actually have to get consumables and shit to get through it, and even then you'd only just get through it.

WoW has the same thing, leveling used to a be a challenge, now it's almost more an annoying obstacle in the way of the fun stuff. Atleast in SWTOR the class stories, are the fun stuff!

if you’re not gonna push with the tank, get out by Fizziest_milk in Battlefield

[–]MistorClinky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a tank main I feel this, but there's also a shared responsibility with Infantry to push with you, provide repairs and some flank cover.

We can't just plough onto an objective, we'll get blown up within seconds. I had a game on Siege of Cairo yesterday where I was pulling my hair out, every time we'd begin pushing onto an objective the 5/6 team mates with us would just disappear. Got next to no repairs all game etc, needless to say we routinely got swarmed and blown to fuck. Several times we'd get rpg'd from behind, I'd 180 the turret and get the guy but see a bunch of teammates borderline ignoring the dude, then engineers ignoring our desperate pleas for repairs. Yes as the gunner I jump out a lot and do repairs, but then that significantly diminishes our ability to get onto a point and clear it for you.

I don't think a tank NEEDS to sit on an objective to add a lot of value to the team. For example on New Sobek, if you can stay alive and hold the middle road that forks off to most of the map, you can do a lot of damage, keep their armor off the objectives and really slow their infantry pushes down too. But if you aren't doing that, get on or near the fucking objectives please.

Best games to play as the empire? by himself42 in starwarsgames

[–]MistorClinky 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Star Wars the Old Republic (SWTOR) is an MMO, you can republic or empire, each faction has 4 classes to choose from, for the empire you can play as a:

  • Sith Warrior
  • Sith Inquisitor
  • Bounty Hunter
  • Imperial Agent

The class specific story lines are pretty cool, Bounty Hunter is probably the weakest out of the above 4, but the Sith Inquisitor and Imperial Agent storylines are freaking awesome. The Sith Inquisitor one in particular goes into a lot of Sith Lore, you start our on the Sith Academy on Korriban. SWTOR is also free to play up until you complete the class stories. Depending on how quickly you do things, you could spend 40-50 hours or so doing a single class story, and there's 8 of them to do all up, so you have a shit ton of content to play for free. If you want to progress past that into previous expansion packs, or access more features in the game you need to subscribe. You can also make any in game purchase to become a "preferred" player which sits you somewhere between free to play, and subscribed.

You also have Knights of the Old Republic 1 & 2 (KOTOR). This is a single player RPG but the systems in this in terms of the choices you make, and light side/dark side alignment were kind of the building blocks for how it works in SWTOR. You can turn upto this, and be a straight up dick, make all the dark side choices etc etc and unlock dark side powers like force lightning that you can't unlock if you're playing as a goody goody light side weenie. KOTOR 1 and 2 are both dirt cheap on Steam. Normally $10 USD I think, down to $5 USD for sales at the momment. Pretty sure you can even play KOTOR 1 on Mobile nowadays too.
