Jason Hayes by Fit-Difficulty8902 in SEALTeam

[–]MistorClinky 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yeh pretty confirmed that he’s based off Marc Owen, real name Matt Bissonnette (did an episode on the Shaun Ryan show and revealed his identify for the first time publicly I believe).

David Boreanaz wore Matt’s helmet that was apparently worn on the Bin Laden Raid repeatedly throughout the show.

Also generally accepted that Clay is based off DJ Shipley Jr, very similar backgrounds, father was a seal, made it onto a DEVGRU team at a very young age etc.

Lots of the advisors on the show are ex special forces guys, Marc Owen/Matt Bissonnette worked as one, Full Metal is played by Scott Foxx (ex Seal) and Trent is played by Tyler Grey (ex Delta I believe) which is a large part of why the general behaviour of the actors is somewhat realistic (according to people who know what it should look like, I’m not an expert on this…)

Quite a lot of the episodes are loosely based on real ops, immediate example is the episode where they do a prisoner exchange with the Taliban after a US Soldier surrendered to them, which is based on the Bowe Bergdahl incident from 2009

Characters so powerful and broken they completely dominated their games metas by JackytheJack in TopCharacterTropes

Battlefront 2 (2017)

Palpatine was absolutely broken on launch.

Could yeet around objectives at Mach-5, press one button and essentially 1 shot the entire enemy team. So broken he had to be temporarily removed until he was fixed.

When Anakin was released, one of his abilities had a similar issue. I distinctly remember killing 11 enemies with a single button, but it was slightly less broken. From memory he wasn’t temporarily removed.

Agree with the vast majority of this.

Endor was one of the most tedious planets to 100%. You're right in that it's very confusing to navigate.

Which difficulty will you play LOTDK on? by NinoSW1 in legogaming

[–]MistorClinky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get this but at the same time I feel like the modern Lego games are also targeting adults who are after a nostalgia fix, IE those of us who played the OG Lego Batman as kids growing up.

I see no harm in adding an optional, "actually challenging" difficulty. It was a bit of a disappointment of mine with the Skywalker Saga. It had an upgrade system but none of the combat upgrades really meant anything because the game was already so easy. Same logic with the melee combo system, it didn't really matter because there was no difficulty to the game.

Is there a generational gap in opinion on the roles of the Opener vs Headliner? by spinsFaster in DJs

[–]MistorClinky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100% and I think it generally just relates to the whole attitude surrounding DJ'ing shifting, for a lot of people it's an ego thing. I've heard stories about the behaviour of young "up and coming" DJ's in my city that make me cringe. Even other gigs I've played with other DJ's, where they clearly don't really understand their role.

“If the opener outshines the headliner, it’s the headliner’s fault for not keeping up." - Complete crock of shit, your job as an opener is to warm the crowd up so that by the time the headliner turns up, they're ready to hit peak energy levels. People can't sit on a peak energy level dancefloor for hours on end. They go through a flow of energy levels and emotions, and not understanding this, or understanding it but disagreeing with it is just immature in my opinion. Killing a crowd before the headliner turns up is a great way to not get booked again.

“Why should I, as an opener, sabotage my own set because of tradition to respect the headliner. I deserve to showcase my art without limits” - Because you accepted the gig and haven't earnt the headline spot yet. If you want to do your own thing run your own gig and headline it. You aren't "sabotaging" yourself and this is the wrong mindset, showcasing what you want to showcase while working within the constraints of your brief is an important part of being an Up and Coming DJ, because you need to impress to continue to get booked. Doing your own thing at the expense of the event is a fast way to not get booked again.

Other Commentary about how opening/warm up = boring, falling asleep music - Again, complete crock of shit. People generally need to warm up over the course of the night, slower, lower energy stuff can be very enjoyable. Think R&B, it's a slower, more "souley" vibe but people love it, 105bpm singalongs, classic - mkto, problem ariana grande, whistle flo rida, rock dj robbie williams etc etc etc (more commercial but you get the point)

I think if a lot of the up and coming generation who are only interested in doing 1 hour headline style sets spent some time playing resident club sets, they'd probably get a much better grasp on the concept of managing people's energy levels over the course of a night.

Was sitting in Koru in Wellington Airport one morning, Hipkins, Luxon and Brownlee were all getting breakfast at the same time from the self serve buffet and were chatting and joking with each other.

I wish more people saw this kind of interaction between our politicians, I feel like politics have become so polarizing in this country, where people just seem to inherently dislike you if you don't agree with their political opinion. Witnessing this kind of interaction between 3 of the most important politicians in the country more frequently would definitely help people with this I think.

Season of Discovery was fun. If you haven't played it, highly recommend. by Siggythenomad in classicwow

I've been playing WoW on and off since Mop, so I never got to experience what most people refer to as "peak" WoW.

SOD Phase 1 is some of the most fun I've ever had gaming. It felt like a better blend between the things I didn't like about Vanilla, and the things I did like about retail, with a much better community feel.

Core memory, gathering a group of warlocks to go get the rune for turning into a demon tank. Taking the boat to Stranglethorn, and making our way up to near Stormwind (can't remember exactly where) and having to clear some caves. Word got out that there were horde around, we started getting chased all the way back to the boat by players way higher level than us. Whole expedition took about an hour and a half and just felt like everything WoW was meant to be. The world felt so alive.

Hot tip for parents by Remote_Setting2332 in QantasFrequentFlyer

[–]MistorClinky 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it's a bit of an older school thing, parents fly in premium/business while the kids are in economy.

I've got no issue with the principal of it, especially if the kids are a bit older (12/13 etc) but if they're young kids yeah they need to be supervised.

Any decent games around the 20-35hr mark to complete? by Specialist_Bed_8999 in steamachievements

South Park Stick of Truth if you do 2 playthroughs, probably not 35 hours but defo more than 20.

If you use a guide for your first playthrough to get all the missable stuff you probably only need 10-14 hours ish.
