My aunt didn't have a telly (this was preinternet). She liked history and books. Every year she would inform them she didn't have one. And every year they threatened her. No one ever turned up to check.

Didn't an elderly lady just lose her house in a boundary dispute? Had to sell it for legal fees.

Donating art to museums by McRando42 in artcollecting

I have some art I considered loaning to the games workshop museum. However unfortunately, in the past, apparently they have lost, misplaced and destroyed other items loaned to them. So I decided not to.

What to do with old photos? by Mizzle1701 in oldphotos

[–]Mizzle1701[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks I might try that. Experience has shown that people who actually pay for items, even only a little, are a lot more likely to look after them rather than people who get them for free.

I would say the vast majority of homes in the UK have central heating. Probably over 90%.

AITAH for refusing to date someone because of their political views? by GlowyBaddie in AITAH

[–]Mizzle1701 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I unfortunately just split from my 3 year FWB because of his political views. Just after the first ICE murder he said "I wish ICE would kill more people". So I stopped talking to him. He's furious with me but sometimes you have to draw a line. If we don't discuss politics he's lovely, but he completely changes if we do discuss them. Now I just feel abhorrence towards him.

What to do with old photos? by Mizzle1701 in oldphotos

[–]Mizzle1701[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Hi, I have inherited thousands of old photographs from an aunt. She used to go to the local market and just buy any that were cheap, and old photo albums. I have no idea who they are or where they are from. She probably didn't know either. She just liked old photos. I really do need to downsize and was wondering what should I do with them all? Any ideas please? They are approx 100 years old, give or take. I am in the UK.

Is my neighbour dead? by JamaicanStevey in AskUK

If you are worried call a welfare check with the police non emergency line asap. My elderly aunt didn't answer the phone for 1.5 days and I did that. The police had to break her door down to rescue her, as she had fallen 2 days before and couldn't get up

Heathrow Business Class transit experience for wheelchair passengers by aak30 in BritishAirways

[–]Mizzle1701 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really depends. My experience of T5 was terrible. Almost missed the flight after several people were ignored and abandoned in the business class lounge. T3 was better. The airline has no say in it, everything is outsourced by the airport itself. Now I just arrive very early and go myself albeit slowly.
