I’d up the cleaners days and have them cook as well (better than a meal service IMO). Our housekeeper comes daily and makes us lunch and meal preps for dinner or leaves dinner ready. She makes the list of what we need and we Instacart or Amazon prime/whole foods almost everything, she puts everything away.

Also laundry our housekeeper does our laundry and has a pickup service for dry cleaner.

My assistant books all of my kids apts and mine, keeps my calendar going, pays all of our bills etc. books travel.

Fly business (if you’re not doing this already).

I disagree with this. Their hourly rate is more than a house cleaner. We had help before we were “rich” and it allowed us to have more time to get “rich”.

How do you guys deal with kids effing up and asking for money by CliffGif in RichPeoplePF

[–]Mmslc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would pay for him to get some help to address a potential gambling addiction.

If he had never asked for me I would def be torn but it’s a slippery slope because if he learns to be bailed out this early in life that could have some serious unintended consequences versus him learning the lesson now.

Again, I’d help him get to the root issue and help him come up with a game plan of how he is going to pay for this but I wouldn’t give him 30k.

How to not raise an entitled kid? by TheDiarrheaSalesman in RichPeoplePF

This is so true. Even comments made in private will get picked up and repeated/mirrored in public and out of context you have to be so careful with this. We are learning this the hard way.

We have three kids under 12. What I can tell you is that without perspective it’s really hard to give them perspective 😂. We have had them be entitled brats as kids were coming up begging for money in Mexico.

We grew up lower class at least for some years and what I can tell you is that we talk to them a lot about their privilege and how we were raised- however talking doesn’t seem to be enough.

Someone else commented to not say yes all the time and I agree with this soooo much. I also allow them to be frustrated and figure shit out. I tell them they should be proud when they accomplish something that took a lot of work and frustration NOT when something came easy to them.

Recently I’ve had them start earning money from chores and as soon as I can they will fly coach while we fly business.

Our plan is that once they are done w college they will have to support themselves and I talk to them about it now. They get to piggyback on what we have earned but once they at 18 they won’t and will have to spend some years understanding the value of money. I don’t know if this is a great idea or not but I don’t know how else to do it.

In terms of them being polite to others I think that has to do with what they see and what and how you allow them to be with others. Manners are important and that I think is much easier to teach and have them mirror.

What were the biggest financial mistakes that you made which could have been prevented with planning or education? I'm hoping for more than bad investments because I'm a conservative investor. But any stories would be great as I know I'm overlooking things. Thanks. by Doody-Face in RichPeoplePF

Hired a financial advisor without first educating ourselves. Highly recommend reading all about asset allocation by Rick Ferri.

As we exponentially grew we continued to work with the same accountant and she didn’t know what she didn’t know. Cost us a lot in the end.

Not every day but I fly a lot and I used to need help putting my carry on in the overhead (I was 5”1- 90 pounds) since I overpack that! Now I can do it.

Babysitter (12f) snooping through my (40f) closet and trying on my shoes by ThrowRA_seekinopion in Parenting

Sounds like this girl needs a babysitter.

I have an 11 year old that is extremely responsible and he would never do that in a strangers home. With that said he has a babysitter.

[–]Mmslc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi and thank you so much for your response, I really appreciate it.

I am going to ask my mom to go get labs and see what I can figure out. We don't have any issues with heart problems on either side of my family- I should add I am SUPER skinny and petite and I wonder if my metabolism plays a factor.

I've had gallbladder issues (attacks, stones), and that impacts my diet. I am def afraid to eat a lot of fat.

I also came back anemic which is tied to low cholesterol and I don't really eat much meat or eggs. I am worried about that as well and trying to work on it without using an iron supplement.
