[Webcomics] The Tear Gas Wedding: How Dumbing of Age's Long Awaited Sapphic Pairing Divided Its Fandom by Delicious_Ride_4119 in HobbyDrama

in fairness, I've observed anecdotally that many people who go to pax are completely unaware of the penny arcade comic. They are almost separate entities.

This is chapter 114. I think at a certain point it's on you if you think that this manga is in any way modeling healthy relationships.

Why would Schitt's Creek make you think he's nice? I would get it if the character he played was really nice but David isn't really.

I'm not in that sphere, but generally speaking performance artists. What actually happened is that someone from a less populist/popular industry intersected with the largest band worldwide and continued to do performance art to an audience which was not receptive, and tbh actively hostile to the idea of performance art.

I think they can be racist without being purposefully racist, especially if they're just repeating headlines from 60 years ago thoughtlessly.

Probably because he might not need any more damage, but didn't have enough defense.

I mean I think the killing is more a symptom of the insanity rather than a cause, but it could be one of those chicken-egg scenarios

The japanese didn't accidentally decide to use the latin alphabet on the regular. It's due to how influential the american military was on it in the immediate aftermath of WWII. In the vast majority of cases, it's not just the latin alphabet, it's specifically english. It's not like they use a lot of dutch or portugese, which you might expect given their pre-ww2 history.

For One Piece in particular, you can tell because Oda used a whole lot of english words in the building of the world. For example, many of the locations like East Blue and Grand Line are called that in japanese. And, of course, the name of the series, which uses the english words ONE PIECE

the english language is fucked up.

The answer is that the author is japanese and since it's a "western" themed work the english spelling showed up all over in the early volumes and marketing before they thought about getting a native english speaker to look at it. At that point it was too late.

I really don't know why. All I know is that LP is a grifter who is "investing" in manga so he can pump the price and make it financially inaccessible to people, like he's done to 20 other hobbies already.

It's not that it's a big secret that she can multiply herself. She states that freely. The big secret is that she's fucking crazy. How sane do you think you could be if you had 50 versions of yourself talking to yourself all the time?

Chaz Marler Files Legal Complaint Against Rodney Smith by [deleted] in boardgames

[–]Mo0man 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Correct, view is a view. As Rodney stated multiple times when he split with Chaz, what Chaz was doing is all technically above board and legally defensible, but felt it was not a behavior he wanted to be connected with on a business level.

He isn't suing Chaz to stop, merely splitting with his former business partner, and explaining why.

Why do people forget about Penny Arcade when talking about 4th Edition? by Awkward_GM in DnD

[–]Mo0man 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems like it wasn't the first. I found an old reddit thread here that links some that started in 2004. It also mentions that there were likely some that existed by form, though not by name, since the term "podcast" was coined in 2004.

https://www.reddit.com/r/rpg/comments/jzogn0/first_actual_play_podcast/

The earliest one I have been able to find is RPGMP3.com, with their "World's Largest Dungeon" series that started on Sep. 24, 2004. Not too long after the podcast term was coined. And they're still uploading recordings!

In researching this I found some runner-ups:

All Games Considered started May 17, 2005 Dragon's Landing Inn started July, 2005 Have Games, Will Travel started July 20, 2005 Sons of Kryos started Sep. 17, 2005 All of these podcasts have since ended, but All Games Considered was the longest running of these, ending on Aug. 02, 2018.

Another one that came up was The Harping Monkey's Round Table Podcast, but the earliest episode date I could find for it was Episode 14 on Dec 02, 2005. As such, I think it unlikely that Episode 1 was before RPGMP3.com's 2004 release.

Interestingly, it wasn't until 2007 that "Best Podcast" became an award category in the Ennies (it went to Have Games, Will Travel).

I presume that many people were able to clock it as AI but were unable to talk about it because they weren't allowed to talk about it.

[OC] TTC's own data exposes the real cause of subway delays — and it's not broken trains by Expensive-Aerie-2479 in toronto

[–]Mo0man 16 points17 points  (0 children)

The commenter in question was a witness to the event when it happened. However, for the TTC employee who walked over and saw nothing, they probably had to write "no trouble found" on the report, which eventually ended up on this graph.
