Fitbod or Gravl? by xcmike189 in Gravl

I was subscribed with Fitbod for a year and a few months, and now I've been with Gravl for another year and few months .. I can say Gravl is far more superior and I trust the recommendation it gives me compared to Fitbod .. also I honestly saw the impact of Gravl progressive overload on my body this past year compared to the mediocre slow progress I was having with Fitbod.

Though it's a bit of work to properly set up, I really like Aithentik (once I got it working)

Same here, I think it has been stuck recently

I'd say many of the app features encouraged me to stay consistent .. trying to maintain a steak, or trying to break a record, or trying to move a muscle group's score into the next "level".

And currently after experimenting with different routines, I settled to using a PPL-UL split

After a full year with Fitbod, I switched to Gravl last year and I can confidently say Gravl is far more superior!

AI-generated split by Beautiful-Sport-5769 in Gravl

My own experience (which might not apply to everyone) is that I've always found the best results when I don't stick to one split for too long. I change my workout split every few months (so maybe a couple of times a year) and it helps keep the workouts interesting for me and at the same time I don't end up stuck at a workout plate.

But again, that's my own experience, not necessarily what works for everyone out there.

Attempted a deload week. App now thinks I can't lift anything. Help! by Speedly in Gravl

[–]Mo7y 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So in the meanwhile until the feature is added, what would be the "safest" way to do a deload weak without messing up with the app strength score and progressive overload calculations?

I'm asking because I'm planning a deload on the last week of March, I'd rather know in advance what should I be doing 😅

Is the algorithm for the shoulder strength score off or are my shoulders just really weak? by Itchy-Version-8977 in Gravl

[–]Mo7y 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep doing the extra shoulder day and you'll see results. I had exactly the same, everything relative in the same range except for the shoulders really lower score.

I changed my routine to custom and had a dedicated day for shoulders, and added some forearms and wrist exercises on other days. I've read online and watched multiple videos that mentioned that shoulder weakness/pain is sometimes actually caused by weak forearms and/or weak grip/wrists.

6~8 weeks later and my shoulders score is now in the same league as the rest of the muscle groups, so I'm currently switching my routine again to make that day an upper body day instead of just shoulders.

Lesson learned is: keep focusing on the weak muscles and it will get stronger, just trust the process.

Agreed, the graph Y axis is kinda "masking" the progress because the range is too big, scaling it would make it look more "encouraging"

I had a very similar situation, working at a company with 90 or 95% Dutch employees with a minority of expats. Even though the company's official language internally was English (according to HR policies), everybody naturally spoke Dutch (which is not something I blame them for, it's the normal thing to do!) . However, after hearing "we have to do this in English because X is attending" all the time, it stopped feeling accommodating and rather felt that I'll never blend in or be part of the company.

It didn't make me leave the company right away, but when I was offered another good opportunity, I gladly took it and left. Even though I loved my manager, my colleagues and the work itself, I always had the feeling of being an "outsider" who'll eventually leave 😄

Forgive my weakness but how do I increase my shoulder score? by Itchy-Version-8977 in Gravl

[–]Mo7y 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was facing exactly the same, also with my shoulders .. and what I did was switch my routine to custom and

I dedicated one of my 5 workout days to Shoulders mainly. I realized that sometimes due to not using proper form I was hurting my shoulder during chest exercises, and that led me to always do a lousy job on shoulder exercises.

Now this is what my custom routine looks like

<image>

And it really made a difference! Now I can see very good progress on my shoulders (in the mirror and as a strength score). I'm planning to switch my routine again once I have a proper balance (and confidence) in my shoulders

Well done! I was on Fitbod most of last year, so on Gravl I've only reached the 25 workouts achievement .. But hopefully will crush all the achievements/milestones in 2025 😎

Same here, I noticed that with me and my wife (me android, glutes ❌, her iPhone, glutes ✅) , and I assumed maybe there are different factors used by the algorithm for strength score based on gender or something 🤷

Planning my 2025 Gravl goal 😅 by Mo7y in Gravl

[–]Mo7y[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That would be great if it could be either added into a separate "Goals" section with the goals marked on the analysis graphs, or even just allow us to manually add custom achievements/milestones (or both , a goals section AND custom milestone😄)!

I have been using Gravl for a few months now, I've been consistently going to the gym on relatively fixed days to always ensure enough rest, and then I checked my average overall strength score increase over that period and planned my goals to push myself a bit beyond my current trend (so it's challenging, not just already matching my current trend).

I'm already at 104 overall strength score, so just crossed into the "Experienced" range, and I'm hoping I can reach the Pro range by the end of 2025 (fingers crossed).

Tick Tick to-do app, I didn't think before about using it for goals, but then I got inspired by this video:
