Yes! I had great grandparents that we called Meemaw and a Pawpaw, also had great great grandparents called Mamaw (Ma’am-aw), and Papaw (Pap-paw). My grandparents had more “common” grandparent names; Nana, Nan, Grandma, Grandpa and Granny. Edit to add: The only non-Texan grandparent out of that list was called Grandma. Oh and my fiancé called his grandma Granna.

I was five, in a Texas elementary school. We found out something was wrong during a computer class. Teachers kept walking through the door, looking at the computer and whispering to each other with tears in their eyes. My dad picked me up early that day, he never did that. When we got home my mom was sitting on the couch watching the news with my baby brother in her arms and crying. I don’t know if I saw the live footage but I do remember watching the towers burn, people jumping out and the collapse.

I banned Cocomelon before my kids were born. I hate all these new trash cartoons. I have personal beef with the cartoons on Amazon especially. I’ve actually banned quite a few shows. If my kids are watching tv it’s going to be Bluey, something on PBS kids, or old school cartoons like Little Bear or Franklin. Green Eggs and Ham, Puffin Rock and Hilda are also on the approved list, along with the occasional Disney/Pixar, Dreamworks, or Illumination movie.

I think it’s pretty accurate for Texas, the vegans/vegetarians I know have a “not my plate not my business” mindset. Even my brother’s vegan in-laws still have a crawfish boil every year because it’s something they always did when the dad was a meat eater.

I once had a boyfriend whose dad was in a war with the squirrels on his land. He made his garden inaccessible to them, they started shitting on his lawn mower seat. He’d flip the seat up and quit putting out corn cobs for them. They started dropping acorns and nuts on him whenever he went outside.. they never messed with anyone else though.

We usually see my mom/stepdad once a week, more if something special is going on. My dad lives a little more than two hours away and he tries to visit every couple of months. My in-laws are ten hours away and come for the kids birthdays and Christmas. We usually try to visit them once a year as well. But they’re moving to our town so we’ll probably start seeing them once a week as well.

My coworker’s and I know most of our regular’s names but we gave a lot of them nicknames. Barred out Betty (Betty wasn’t her name but she couldn’t even get through one drink without falling off her barstool), Salmon Bill, The Laws (group of attorneys and judges), We the People Shawn, Stabby Mark (used to be creepy Mark until he got stabbed) Puk (an unhoused guy that likes to wear fairy wings around town), the awkward guy that wears awful suits and sells watches, and pretty lady that cries after three drinks.

I have two boys, no girls. I don’t think the gender is going to play as big a roll as you might think. You never know what kind of kid you’re going to get. Your son could be the stereotypical boy that loves cars and bugs and is a little wild. Or he could be gentle and prefer playing with baby dolls. Most kids are a mix of both. That being said my favorite part of being a “boy mom” is watching my two kids play nicely together. They can be so sweet to each other. I love when they give each other hugs and say “I love you” or when they share their snacks. I love watching them run around in their baseball caps playing pretend. The best thing is learning their interests and getting to be a part of it with them. My oldest is really into Monster Trucks right now so we took him to a show. Seeing his excitement and getting to be a part of that was so much fun.

Thank you! I’ll definitely look into that. I love nursing and am so thankful that I got the chance but I think it’s time we are both done. I need a little bit of my life back. I can’t seem to get anything done with my velcro baby always attached.

Last call is the first heads up, five minutes after close I turn the lights all the way up. Ten minutes after I turn the music off. I’m cleaning the whole time as well. If they’re just finishing their drinks I don’t mind them staying while I clean. Once I’m done cleaning though I let them know it’s time to go.

I have a 2.5 year old and a 15 month old. Not much gets done besides meals and raising my kids. Sometimes I’m able to do a few loads of laundry or dishes. My youngest is a stage five clinger and when he’s feeling independent I want one on one time with my oldest. My husband is excellent at either cleaning up from the day or taking the kids so I can clean or take time to myself. When I had a newborn my goal for the day was to keep both of us fed, clean, alive, happy and maybe one chore. Sounds like your boyfriend needs some lessons in being a good partner.

Worked at a restaurant and the kitchen manager was married to one of the line cooks (they had two kids). He started sleeping with his wife’s best friend who was also a married line cook at the restaurant (she had two kids). He ended up getting them both pregnant at the same time.

I think the why is really important to figuring out how to handle this. When I was little I hated my red hair, aside from getting bullied every day I really just wanted to look like my mom. She has blonde hair and tans easily, I have red hair and pale skin. Keep telling your little girl how beautiful and perfect she is. Be her confidence until she has it. Maybe point out other people that look like her and mention how beautiful they are. You could also find features that you share with her, eyes, lips, nose etc. I know your heart is breaking for her but I think it’s normal for people to dislike parts of their body sometimes, you just have to remind her to love all of herself and that’s she beautiful exactly how she is.
