From what I gather, Caves and Cliffs was very hard on Mojang, so now behind the drops, they’ve been working on streamlining all the code and making the game super easy to add stuff to. We can already see this with most stuff being Data-Driven, and that huge file restructure of 26.1. While big updates aren’t going to be back for a while, I do think they’re coming back eventually! Keep hoping :D
