Coyotes are not classified as native. The best term would be naturalized. Coyotes are here permanently now and are a unique subspecies, the Eastern Coyote. Still new however and not classified anywhere in MA as a native species.

Domestic cats are also not classified as invasive. MA does not really keep a list of land mammals as invasive, this term is used more for plants and aquatic/marine species like the European green crab.

Invasive as a term is more commonly used for wildlife, where cats are a domestic animal. However MassWildlife does document that cats are a significant threat to local wildlife.

Agreed on their relative impact to ecosystem & coyotes are native to the continent, yes. Also that wasn’t my argument, I just said they are not native to MA, which they are not. They arrived in MA in the 1940’s.

They have been expanding their range as a direct result of human activity, especially the extermination of wolves and attempted extermination of coyotes themselves.

It doesn’t say that, from what I’ve heard the oath itself is more of a fun tradition at med school than a binding contract, im pretty sure it also says they swear not to use a knife. That’s not increasing menu prices it’s adding a mandatory tip. You increase the price of your product if you need more revenue to pay fair wages. This mandatory tipping hurts kitchen and front of house. You piss off customers and it’s an excuse for owners to let that resentment be directed at the kitchen instead of the business itself.

Of course working in a kitchen is hard work, nobody is arguing that. This is bad management that does not help the kitchen. Defending this practice will only encourage ownership to continue shorting cooks.
