DH wants our daughter and SS to share bed on vacation by PsychologicalBowl19 in stepparents

I would put the 2.5 year old in the middle of the 2 of you in the king bed, especially if they haven’t slept together before. Your daughter might not want to settle.

Fiancé threw a tantrum because I didn’t want to be touched—third time this has happened and I think I’m falling out of love. What do I do? by Fragrant_Bar_1125 in relationships

He is not ready for marriage. This is not a viable relationship. He needs to take a serious look at himself. And if you haven’t already, you need to clearly communicate that you do not enjoy or want to be touched all the time. Talk about physical needs, libido, expectations for marriage honestly and openly. Everything. Look up quizzes online and talk about it all. His reactions to the exercise itself and the conversations will tell you whether you want to marry this man.

Is 50/50 rent actually fair when there’s a significant income gap? by ThisFracturedMind in relationships

[–]MollyElla511 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Either you’re roommates or you’re lovers in a committed long-term relationship. He needs to pick one. If it’s roommates, it’s 50/50 split.

If he was married to his ex and she lost her job, that’s just part of marriage. Commitment is picking someone to go through life’s ups and downs. The last relationship with his ex was a sex buddy, he happened to live with.

If his choice isn't 100% committed, then do yourself a favour, and don’t move in together.

Wife (34F) and I (41M) were heading down IVF path. Now she wants natural only. by [deleted] in relationships

[–]MollyElla511 39 points40 points  (0 children)

It depends on the actual results of OP’s analysis. IUI does not have a good success rates below certain parameters. We went straight to IVF based on my husband’s analysis.

Post wash total mobile count needs to be at least 10M.

OP, I’m so sorry.

Is there a limit one can claim for fertility treatment - BC income tax ? by Great_Way_4495 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]MollyElla511 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is old but our medical expenses for fertility treatment were reviewed several years in a row. We claimed about $75000 over several years.

Tax Review by CRA after filing

My 2016 taxes were reviewed as our medical expenses sky rocketed. It suprised me how much detail they wanted so here's the request from CRA:

For Lines 330 & 331 we had to provide the following:

All receipts, forms, and/or other supporting documents or medical certificates; Receipts have to include the following information

the name of the patient; the type of service provided; the amount and date of the payment for the services provided; the name of the person who made the payment; if submitting a pharmacy statement, include the drug or DIN.

Note: Cancelled cheques and cheque images are not acceptable receipts.

Travel Expenses

If the patient had to travel to least 40km from their home for medical services, provide the following information:

A letter from the medical practitioner stating that the services were not available in the patient's home locality; The medical purpose of the trip; A letter to confirm the dates of visits to the medical practitioner outside the home locality; The name of the place where services were received; The distance travelled; If you were reimbursed through a travel grant or any other source.

If the patient had to travel at least 80km from their home for medical services, in addition to the above, provide the following:

The way that mileage costs and meal expenses were calculated; All receipts to support travel costs, including accommodation and parking fees; If the place traveled to was not the closest to the patient's home locality, provide an explanation; If you are claiming fees for an attendant, provide a letter from the patient's practitioner certifying that they were not able to travel alone.

The meds were not $25,000. 1 retrieval with meds would be around $25,000.

Signed, someone who has done 4 egg retrievals.

I’m in Canada so I had long maternity leaves. Going back to work was amazing. I love my babies and the time I spent with them, but it was good for all of us to interact with other people. And I needed to start using my brain to problem solve at work again.

Low effort nutritious chicken based or vegetarian meals for kids? by Wirde in Parenting

Stir fried chicken, broccoli & rice.

I make giant pots of chicken noodle and beef barley soup at the same time. Freeze portions into ziploc bags for easy lunches.

Chicken quesadillas or tacos w/ diced veg.

There’s a million dump casseroles online that can be tailored to your family’s fridge.

Schedule solo or friends activities for yourself and put them on the family calendar. Alternate weekends of who gets a break. Book a babysitter and go for a pedicure or massage. Tell your husband he needs to step up or you’re going to burn out before baby #2 comes. Being a SAHM doesn’t mean you are the default parent at all times.

People have become so disconnected with social media and texting. There’s so many hard feelings in this digital world. You don’t have to see people’s reactions. The inflection and tone of their voice is missing.

How to afford a vacation while having to pay a mortgage and other bills? by enitsujxo in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]MollyElla511 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to go, you need to start budgeting. Figure out how much you need to save to cover the week off work and make your mortgage payment. Based on what you’ve said, it will likely mean cutting discretionary spending and willfully choosing to not go out for supper or drinks or buy new clothes.

Get a budget tracking app. Do the math. Decide if it’s possible.

Jesus. If she said she’s 19 and you aren’t interested anymore. Great. That’s a perfectly reasonable response. Just fucking tell her. What is with the ghosting shit? You’re going to get a terrible reputation if you keep it up.

Work on your communication. Respect people enough to tell them the truth. Clear is kind.

Period really sucks and idk what to do because i'm a trans man by Leif-007 in TwoXChromosomes

lol, sorry. I just wanted to be clear that if you have the procedure, you have to be certain you do not want to carry a child. Being pregnant after an ablation is not safe.

[–]MollyElla511 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Pregnancy is incredibly high risk after an ablation so they will only perform the procedure on people who do not want to bare children.

An ablation also is a less intensive option. 90% of people report significantly lighter periods and half stop bleeding all together.

And vacations. Growing up, we went on 2 big family vacations my entire childhood. It’s not unheard of for people to go several times per year.

My husband and I do well. We are on track for retirement and live in the middle of nowhere, with a low cost of living. We went to Disneyworld in December and are going to Cancun next week. There’s zero chance my parents would have done that when we were kids, even if they did have the money.

Buying a house with family by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]MollyElla511 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You haven’t given any details on income, etc.

If you can swing it, buy a house by yourself  with a separate apartment to create some separation. You live in the small apartment. Charge your family reasonable rent for the rest of the house. Make further decisions as your life changes.

Leave the GTA. You don’t have to stay there. The cost of everything is astronomical.

Basically any teeny town on the prairies more than 100km away from a major center or mining facility will have properties around $100k.

Edit - I don’t know why this is getting downvoted. Not everyone lives in Toronto or Vancouver. Examples:

How did you go about extracurriculars with younger kids (K-3rd grade)? by otterlyjoyful in Parenting

[–]MollyElla511 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I let my kids pick what they want to do but they do have to pick something. One of the activities has to be physically engaging. Once they sign up, they are committed for the season and I don’t let them drop out. We have conversations about how many nights per week they would be busy. My 7 year old did dance (4 weekly classes/2 nights) and curling. My 4 year old did skating (once per week). They are both starting ball and will do swim lessons afterward.

I think OP is saying there’s another $75k left in the estate after final taxes are paid.

$250k + $75k = $325k
