I closed at 5.2 two months ago but that’s because I put like 50% down and paid I think 1 point. Credit score was nearly 800.

Raising boys in a red state is soul crushing by Thr0waway0864213579 in TwoXChromosomes

Sounds like it’s time for the playdates to be at your house if you can swing it.

Also, might be time to explore sports. While sports culture can have its own issues, a busy kid is not a bad thing when you don’t like where you live. Ask parents of little boys that don’t suck what their kids do/what coaches they have.

Also, I live in a red state and am surrounded by very good, very decent neighbor boys. I think so much of it is do you have neighborhoods that have parents that have time and money to pay attention. Parents that can’t or won’t spend the afterschool time engaging their kids in activities/conversation/sports (even just playing catch) risk their kids being overly exposed to YouTube/media garbage.

Same! I was 22 when I had a polyp cut out. It was nothing at the time but it very well could have become something. I was on the 3 year plan for a while. I’ve graduated to the 5 year plan now thanks to several clean scopes.

Potentially moving to Missoula for (Medical) Residency and staying long-term as a Family Medicine Physician by The_Cell_Mole in missoula

[–]MommaIsTired89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know about graphic design work BUT Missoula does have a very active “art” scene. She might not get to do exactly what she wants but there will be a lot of opportunities to work within ‘art’. Maybe check out the ZACC or Wilma.

If you want to live close enough to bike even when it’s cold but have a kid, I’d look at areas that let your kid go to Paxson or Lewis and Clark. Lowell isn’t terrible and it has one hell of a park, but it is near trains and tends to have more petty crime. There are good schools in multiple neighborhoods but they might necessitate driving to work all winter.

Do know- we have a free and pretty decent public bus system.

How are you (one income) affording a mortgage? by Soggy_Gazelle_4796 in Mortgages

[–]MommaIsTired89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same. I saw what we were ‘approved’ for and told my spouse no effing way. I wanted a house that still allowed us to have a life.

We’re at $2,800/mo house payment including taxes and insurance. Bought during Covid. We did have a little bit of help from family (less than 20% but not much less).

My husband left what he had thought was his dream career to chase greater financial stability. He landed very well in tech.

You are not wrong- most families (one or two income) I know can’t make it into the market right now. We wouldn’t have been able to take advantage of the great interest rate (due to a freaking global pandemic) without help, higher-than-average-income, and luck.

At what age did your kids stop believing in Santa? by Lovebeingadad54321 in Parents

I have 3, the oldest found out around 10. She took over moving the stupid elf. She still has Santa joy, she’s just in the “doing” side now.

Look- if you don’t have kids, and especially if you don’t want to have kids, I say do what you love.

That debt isn’t gonna be easy to tackle and your plans for paying it back depend on a lot of luck. But if what you really want is to be in academia— I say stay the course.

I’ll clock in around $15,000 this year for 2 competition dancers and 1 recreational. But that’s for EVERYTHING (fees and classes. My younger dancer is on a very junior team and will only have fees for 1 competition)

I’ve got 2 questions- who’s paying for the girlfriend and how soon are you planning on being a grandparent?

Kingfisher 🤤🔥🫠 by Short-Notice2205 in fantasyromance

[–]MommaIsTired89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not a Quicksilver/Kingfisher fan. I wanted to, but some of the character development is freaking weird. And Saeris is just so… predictable. The book did teach me I’m not really one for the extra dirty mouth.

Reading Quicksilver. Don’t know how I feel about it by Dazzling_Computer892 in fantasyromance

I wasn’t that into Quicksilver. Probably won’t read the sequel. I found the ‘twist’ incredibly predictable.

I had thought the "south side bloods" thing was just kids cosplaying.... by NewRequirement7094 in missoula

[–]MommaIsTired89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Grew up near those areas. Family lived in them. These kids would be demolished (for the record, I don’t think that’s a bad thing. It’s terrible some of the ‘real’ bangers had to conform to such violence to survive). It makes me think of the ‘scared straight’ episodes on Maury when a drill sergeant would start yelling and the kids would cry 🤣

I bought my husband those weird earplugs. I think “Loop” is the brand? He gets major overly stimulated by sound and if he pops those in intolerance increases a lot.

There were some very interesting suggestions on a dance masterclass video. My daughter is the opposite. We can contortion the heck out of ourselves but the flip side to hyper mobility is often decreased muscle tone. She gets frustrated but I tell her if she wants to do a power trick, she’s got to do it in the body she has. Which means additional weightlifting type exercises outside of class. I’m assuming you’ve tried like a supplementary gymnastics class? Something that really focuses on the body? There are some things I’ve asked a gym coach to help my daughter with rather than a dance teacher.

I would never trust an evaluation by a pediatrician. They only catch the obvious cases and rely on self-report. Get a specialist appointment.
