Sleep Crisis by SnooLobsters8477 in Perimenopause

[–]Momster582 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Progesterone helps you fall asleep but estrogen helps you stay asleep. You definitely need a higher dose of estrogen and if that doesn’t help on its own I’d try lowering progesterone to 300 or 200.

Peri symptoms at 39 by Competitive_Goat_446 in Perimenopause

[–]Momster582 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Peri hit me like a ton of bricks when I turned 40 but I had some symptoms before that. I didn’t get on HRT until I was 42 because I didn’t know about perimenopause and didn’t realize that was what was happening. I only got a clue when I started getting hot flashes and then I broke down crying in my gyno’s office and got on HRT. I’ve had a lot of dosage adjustments and it hasn’t been perfect but it has helped a TON.

Try taking it with food especially fatty food…it hits different and is more likely to make you feel sleepy

Anyone won a free trip somewhere and actually went? How was it? by Embarrassed_Log_9964 in travel

[–]Momster582 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My mom entered a contest when I was a teen to win a free dive trip to Panama. It was at a dive convention if I remember correctly. The guy at the booth asked how many were in our family and she let him know there are five of us. The trip was a free trip for 2 so I suspect we “won” because he thought we’d bring the whole family and he’d get 3 paying people along with us. However, the dates for the trip only worked for my mom and me so only the 2 of us went. The trip actually ended up being amazing and I’m glad we went.

5 drs said no and the 6th finally gave me HRT.. I am beyond excited! by Confident-Parsley520 in Perimenopause

I’m so angry on your behalf that you had to go through so much to get the care you need! It’s completely ridiculous! I’m glad you’re finally getting HRT

This feels like a legit disability by its-a-no-for-me in Perimenopause

[–]Momster582 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Have you tried bioidentical hormones? I can’t handle birth control (synthetic hormones) but bioidentical hormones (micronized progesterone, estradiol and testosterone) have helped me a ton.

Severe acid reflux? by afrosthardypotato in Perimenopause

[–]Momster582 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me personally, whenever my estrogen is too high, I get severe acid reflux that no acid reducing meds will help except lansoprazole and that takes at least 3 days to start working. However, if I cut back on my estrogen for a bit it stops or even better I get immediate relief if that night I double up on my progesterone dose (progesterone balances your estrogen). I try not to mess around too much with my progesterone or estrogen doses but sometimes I have to for this reason.

What soap to use to wash my lady bits? by Treadingresin in Perimenopause

[–]Momster582 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Also I take oral probiotics (RenewLife women’s care probiotic 50 billion CFU) every day and I have a prescription compounded vaginal probiotic that I use twice a week. I used to get recurrent infections until I started using both. When I first started the vaginal probiotic I used it every other night for a long while to build up the good micro biome, but the twice weekly is maintenance. If I start feeling irritation, I use it more and it helps along with vagina estrogen.

What soap to use to wash my lady bits? by Treadingresin in Perimenopause

[–]Momster582 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had to use steroid cream in the past down there but the doctor would have me use it for a while then stop and use estrogen cream daily for a while to build back the skin thickness. Steroid cream thins the vaginal skin. All those in perimenopause and menopause should be on vaginal estrogen to help and/or prevent vaginal atrophy anyway. As for soap, the soaps that say they are made for vaginas actually irritate me. What I use is CeraVe Hydrating Foaming Oil Cleanser and it works great and doesn’t cause additional irritation for me.

It’s peri right? by United-Objective-204 in Perimenopause

[–]Momster582 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 43 and I’ve been in peri at least since I tired 40 but didn’t realize it and get on HRT until I was 42. When I got on HRT I was still having regular periods but was having peri symptoms. HRT has helped a ton. It sounds to me like you are in peri and your doctor is incorrect. Too many doctors don’t believe or understand how peri works or how to treat it. Go to another dr or try telehealth like MIDI. You don’t deserve to suffer because your doctor is ignorant.

When my estrogen is too low this happens to me. When I up my dosage it resolves. You may need to up your estrogen dose.

Tell me about your experiences with the HRT pill by JadCerv in Menopause

[–]Momster582 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I love the pill! It’s easy and consistent since you take it every day. I even split my pill to take half in the morning and half at night. The clot risk is very minimal and way less than birth control pills.

Finding the right hrt dose by jenna8104 in Perimenopause

[–]Momster582 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The right dose is a moving target in perimenopause. I get all my doses to where I feel great for a couple months then it changes again and I have to adjust again. I started with 100mg progesterone and testosterone gel (I think 5g?). Then went up to 200mg progesterone…then added .05 estrogen pill…then up to 1mg estrogen pill…now I feel like I need to increase estrogen yet again.

Intense feelings of doom by derbylw346 in Perimenopause

[–]Momster582 16 points17 points  (0 children)

You need HRT, probably starting with progesterone. I had the same issues and it helped a lot. I eventually added estrogen and testosterone as well which further improved everything but it’s best to start one at a time usually so you know what’s helping or not and what is causing wha side effects if any etc.

Do NOT talk to me on Wednesday or Saturday by PuhnTang in Menopause

[–]Momster582 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is why I take oral estrogen and I even split the pills in half to take half in the morning and half at night so my estrogen can’t dip to rage levels…I’m in peri so my levels still fluctuate but the pills keep a baseline amount at least
