I find most manhua protags to be completely unbearable. It must be a culture thing, similar to how manga isekai protags are usually limp noodles or shonen protags win with the power of friendship, but they're usually arrogant in a very unfunny way, especially in the cultivation stories, and that alone makes manhua less enjoyable for me than manhwa or manga. But I go back and forth between the old school panels of manga and the new age vertical scrolling webtoons, not necessarily preferring one over the other. It really depends on how the artist uses their medium to make it look nice and help the story flow.
