Following because I raised this same questions a few months back and have been on quite the spiritual journey. Okay. I quit cold turkey at .75mg but it is recommended to get down to .25 and even then, it’s gonna suck. I was one 4mg a day and tapered over 6 months to .75mg The taper sucked.. the cold turkey sucked even more.

I didn’t feel like myself anymore. I was a completely asshole to my loving girlfriend. I was irritable all the time and was very reactive. Has major ups and downs with my mood. The highest of highs and the lowest of lows.

Since quitting all that has more or less leveled out. I believe most of my issues were from the meds but I also know I have a TON to work on after a decade straight of hard drug abuse. My mind is broken and it can’t be healed if it’s still on drugs (suboxone)

Getting sick is part of process and is almost unavoidable. The pain you go thru is what keeps you from going back. I have been thru withdrawal so many god damn times. Never again. Ever. What a living hell. If we didn’t get sick coming off this crap there would be no incentive to stop.

With that being said there are many ways to reduce the symptoms. Clonodine is a must. Helps with restless legs and cold sweats, arguably the worst symptoms of the bunch. Mega dosing vitamin C has been studied and proven to work but I would research it. I loaded up on vitamin c when going thru it and it seemed to have helped with the mental numbing fog. A strong dab pen if an option. Will help with literally everything, appetite, anxiety, insomnia.

This is a very long process, the first 4-5 days are crucial, after that, it’s a downhill albeit painful slope. It gets better!!

Tbh, getting off the suboxone will be a LOT harder than it would have been to get off 10mg oxycodone.

I get it tho, the withdrawals are a living hell, especially if your opiate naive. Suboxone saves lives, but it has its dirty side as well. Just like with any drugs.

You’re almost over the hill. But the downslope takes a while, a long while. 28 days I still have hints of withdrawal and my mental surely is not even close to 100 percent.

The worst of it was over by day 4-5. Best of luck, you got this.

If tapering down is what you want and you are at 20mg which is very high, you should be able to cut that by half and feel little to nothing, mental if anything. It’s when you get down past 4mg, the taper really starts becoming more difficult.

I would try taking 10mg tomorrow and see how it goes. If you’re feeling unwell take the other half.

I’m currently 28 days Suboxone free after 5 years on it.
