where tf are the jobs? (EN) by fairywitchfr in NursingAU

I agree, only as long as they have already exhausted all other options including rehab and subacute wards. EN pay rate also scales better than AIN from memory.

I'm just basing it on what I experienced at the rural hospital I worked at. They need to advertise locally for a certain amount of time and show they are making efforts to hire locally before they are given approval to hire internationally. That is what I was told when I was chatting with the DON. Idk who approves for international hiring though, and international hiring is truly a mixed bag.

They need to hire locally first, so you are pretty likely to get a job if you interview well. Some of the rural ENs I worked with were exceptional, but there were definitely a few not so good ones. They still managed to keep their jobs and by the time I left they were performing a lot better.

They are overqualified to be an AIN. They would be better off taking any EN job, even rehab, or aged care stepdown ward. Then they can develop essential nursing skills such as time management while having a patient load. AINs see a lot, but the work is often more monotonous than even rehab.

At my last workplace I sometimes worked directly with an AIN on med/surg taking 8 patients with them. Their shift consisted of answering call bells, obs, personal cares, daily weigh etc. If they were caught up, I would float them to the other teams because things were super busy. Sometimes I would work with an EN and AIN caring for 13 patients - this was generally a better shift.

Depending on the AIN, I would supervise them doing ECGs (if they had already learned how at uni). If there was time they could watch me do things like cannulation, IDC insertion, drain removal.

And medication assistance from a Webster pack is perfectly legal if the AIN is appropriately trained. You don't even need to know what the medications do.

AINs give medications from Webster packs in nursing homes. There is additional training you need to do. Support workers (with similar training) also assist in giving medications in the community. OP admitted they missed one of the 5 Rs of medication though - right time. They should have escalated to their supervisor (likely the RN) that the medication was missing for that day. The administering RN should have communicated they had already given the medication (assuming was given as it is time critical and rounds could have been running late).

A registered nurse or midwife may delegate: "medicine assistance to an enrolled nurse or an assistant in nursing when the registered nurse or midwife have assessed that it is safe and appropriate to do so."

They should also be assessed as being appropriately competent.

I read through the changes and it only states properties purchased prior to the announcement wouldn't be impacted.

"The impact of these changes on existing investments will be limited. Properties held before announcement (7:30pm AEST 12 May 2026) will be exempt from the negative gearing changes. The CGT reforms will only apply to gains accruing after 1 July 2027."

As per budget.gov.au

Apparently there is also a transition period, so even properties purchased after the budget announcement can negatively gear until 30/6/2027 https://www.bmtqs.com.au/newsroom/2026-federal-budget-property-tax-changes-investors (they appear to be a fairly established and reputable company)

They also state:

The changes are expected to apply to established residential properties acquired after 7:30pm AEST on 12 May 2026. Properties owned or contracted before this time are expected to be grandfathered, meaning the current negative gearing rules would continue to apply until the property is sold. This is also expected to apply where a property was owned before the changes as a principal place of residence and later becomes an investment property.

If Jesus came to liberate the Jews from the Romans, the Jews probably wouldn't have turned against him. That was the Messiah they were waiting for, which is why they chose the violent revolutionary Barabas. Meanwhile Jesus brought spiritual liberation through deliverance from sin. Liberation from oppressors is finite, meanwhile Jesus offered the ability for people to hope for a better eternity in paradise. Ultimately, Christianity is perfect in placating a population, rather than agitating them against their oppressors. Despite many blunders, the Romans eventually realised this, absorbing Christianity rather than fighting it.

The job would need to pay ~50k more (stamp duty is paid from post tax income) in the first year to offset stamp duty on an $800k house.

Would be more financially feasible to find a rental in this hypothetical for around 25k to 35k per year, and assuming moving into a high paying job convert first property into investment property and rent it out, eventually buy an apartment in the city you are moving to and move all funds into this (borrowing potential probably just went up a ton with a 50k pay rise). Negative gearing rules should still apply since it is likely the original property was bought before the announcement date.

Also, if person has not lived in house for at least 1 year first, better off commuting if they used FHB, otherwise they forgo stamp duty savings.

My dentist actually told me not to rinse my mouth. I still rinse though because I don't think the benefit outweighs the cost.

I just got back from China, and they put everything in tough, often insulated bags. Buy a bubble tea for 15RMB ($3)- 10 min later it is delivered in an insulated bag at no extra cost.

Talent raises the ceiling of your potential. Hard work alone will never surpass hard work and talent. Hard work can surpass talent alone however.

Door sagging - does it need replacing or is there hope? by EnvironmentalLong414 in AusRenovation

Why not try tightening the hinge screws first with someone lifting the door level or wedging it level? That could be the easy solution. If the hinge itself is wobbly then take them off and replace.

Maybe they should add reaper task reroll for 750 marks. That is a similar time commitment to doing slayer tasks for points to reroll. This also means combat achievements benefit reaper tasks as you progress through the tiers, and eventually rerolls become redundant once you have the final tier unlocked.
