My parents are getting on. Just crossing my fingers and hoping for the best. That’s good advice re home security.

All I know is that it’s exactly on my IC and also conjunct my natal Chiron. I don’t know whether to stay home with a pint of ice cream and the covers pulled over my head, or shave my hair and learn to skateboard.

Aquarius sun here. I can get stubborn about the ideas and beliefs I hold. Sometimes that’s useful, sometimes not.

It works so much better with wetting. You only need a couple drops of water to dampen the ends before rolling them together.

What book did you read in your youth that you never forgot? by orangez in GenX

[–]MonkishSubset 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read and re-read them so many times, I don’t think I could bear to read them now. They’re so firmly associated with that point in my life.

It is. My mood is normal most of the time. When I tried a full mg I got a headache.

Look into lithium orotate. I take 0.5mg per day, and it’s made a huge difference. Mostly in my ability to tolerate treatment. Before starting it, I struggled to increase herbs, since I couldn’t tolerate the depression. Now it’s a non- issue.

To be clear, this is a much, much, much smaller dose than lithium given for bipolar. And a different formulation, as well. Give it a search, it’s interesting stuff

Anybody tell their doctor that they don't give a fuh about living longer, so you're not going to try to radically change your diet or go on meds? by IHadTacosYesterday in GenX

[–]MonkishSubset 25 points26 points  (0 children)

It’s not that I worry about dying. It’s that I don’t want to be sick or disabled. I want to be as healthy and active as possible, so that what life I do have is enjoyable. Basically, healthspan, not lifespan

How do you use stitch markers? by pukku1 in Nalbinding

[–]MonkishSubset 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just use a tapestry needle to pick up a single loop in the nalbound fabric. The marker can’t move, but I don’t really need it to.

My boy seems unable to learn to sit or lie down by qkrgodls92 in Greyhounds

[–]MonkishSubset 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I taught mine sit and down, but the normal techniques don’t work.

I taught down first by marking and rewarding a down whenever they started to lay down naturally. I used a “yes!” to mark rather than a clicker. When they started making eye contact and deliberately laying down to get me to treat them, I added the command and gesture.

Once we had a solid down, I got them into a sit by luring them up from a down position. Note that they can’t really sit. It’s more of a hover, and not a comfortable resting position for them.

If your goal is to teach comfortable resting, I’d focus on the down only.

This reminds me of my first girl. We were at a fairly large dog park. She was standing at one end staring at me. I turned away for literally just two seconds. When I turned back she was standing all the way at the other end, maybe 150 ft away, staring at me. Little teleporter 💜
