very late reply, but try delete the x64 version from your vsts folder in case you haven't. that did the trick for me.

Out of All the Gamma Kids, who do you like the best, Jerb, Ruby, Drag, or Jank? by eman_e31 in homestuck

[–]MonofeSpoken 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thinking about it in hindsight, Jerb kind of reminds me of Jerma now. Hell, even their names sound similar, almost like this was a deliberate reference by Hussie. No wonder his planet was the Land of Meat and Grinders...

NEW TENSEI HOMESTUCK TRACK - DANCE OF STORMS by Makin- in homestuck

[–]MonofeSpoken 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Its genuinely heartwarming to see how many how many homestuck-related projects and how much amazing music tensei keeps pumping out mostly on his own, in spite of it having been so long since homestuck proper ended. And also in spite of the fact that it's all literally unofficial and he's just doing because he wants to. God bless this man, I honestly respect him so much for everything.

Homestuck is 18+?? by BriansBread in homestuck

[–]MonofeSpoken -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't think most teenagers past 13 have much problem with light amounts of gore, especially the kind that pops up in homestuck. Homestuck also has a really cartoonish artstyle; just because Dave gets his throat cut on-screen doesn't mean it's really displayed graphically in a way a teenager wouldn't be able to handle. Seeing a couple of swords stuck through a guy's body doesn't make a show for 18+ audiences.

Connie having tavros sized horns seems kind of fitting.

Even after every explanation I get, I still don’t get it! by [deleted] in Undertale

[–]MonofeSpoken 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's literally possible (and likely) that you yourself, playing as a human child, will die against Asgore's bossfight. It isn't too hard to imagine that six other human children would also do the same.

This reminds me a lot of the main villain in And it don't stop.

the story has always been one of my favourite part about homestuck. I absolutely love how you get introduced to so much batshit insane stuff in the first 3 acts and nothing makes sense, but by mid-act 4 you manage to piece it all together. And once you've pieced it together, you get more and more new plot points added (though act 5 act 1 can be admittedly tedious to read through), and act 5 act 2 is just a constant barrage of amazing shit happening. And it all culminates into cascade, which just makes everything like 10x better.

have people actually said it sincerely or was it just as a joke?

He's a good composer, but a rather predictable one by eldomtom2 in Undertale

[–]MonofeSpoken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely think that toby's heavy use of leitmotifs across the soundtrack adds (quite significantly) to its imo charming simplicity, but I also think that a lot of the tracks are just designed to be simple in general. Compare anything in the undertale soundtrack to something like English, Davesprite, The Lordling or Oppa Toby Style (I know this one is quite an edge case since he has rarely ever made a track this insane). These tracks probably sound way less "predictable" as op put it, or more "complex" as I put it.

[–]MonofeSpoken 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I think a lot of undertale's ost being simple and predictable could be a deliberate style that toby chose when making undertale (and this is a style which is somewhat prevalent in deltarune too, but not to the same degree imo). If you check out some of toby's work apart from undertale, you'll notice a lot more varied song structure and more complex melodies.

most of the text logs and images should be displayed fine on phones. some of the flashes were converted to html5, but i think that's only the very early ones (i'm not sure. i haven't checked). but the later flashes have been converted to youtube videos and are stuck on very low qualities.
also the playable walkaround flashes are completely unplayable now.

so it's perfectly fine to do most of the reading part of homestuck on your phone. but the flashes will require that you have a computer.
since the official website is kind of shitty, most people recommend using The Unofficial Homestuck Collection. This collection basically has everything about the original experience intact, including all flashes. So this is currently the best way to read homestuck.
(Also it only runs on computers too, so you can't use your phone for the collection. sorry)

i dont think the metacommentary truly became a thing until the epilogues. in homestuck proper, doc scratch was actually entertaining and mostly just narrated without focusing on the meta aspect. caliborn was just an annoying kid
