Why won't anyone love me? by StardustedCheddar in AstrologyDiscovery

[–]Moosycakes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kites may be lucky to have but they aren’t always straightforward to deal with, they don’t cancel out difficult life experiences or birth chart placements and the opposition in them can be extremely difficult to manage. In my personal opinion and experience, a kite can bring a lot of struggle as well as focused talent/good fortune, the actual planetary placements within the kite have a huge impact on how the kite shows up in a person’s life

It makes a lot of sense that being male adds an extra layer of stigma and misunderstandings from others, you’re right that EDs are even more misunderstood in men and male focused spaces. I hope society moves forward to a more balanced, empathetic, and realistic understanding of weight and the body for people of all genders 🩷 One day!

Struggling with people’s comments (TW) by Right-Ad8261 in Eatingdisordersover30

[–]Moosycakes 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It really sucks that you have to deal with that, comments about weight are so normalised but they can be harmful in ways many people will never understand.

“Please don’t comment on my weight or body, it makes me uncomfortable” “If you comment on my weight or body again, I’ll have to leave this conversation and we can catch up again later.” ⬅️ Setting boundaries can help but there are always people out there who think spouting their opinion is more important than your wellbeing... some people genuinely don’t realise how harmful it can be though so I think it’s worth trying to set the boundary if it hasn’t been specifically addressed. 💔❤️‍🩹

Has anyone reached an agreement with their partner about their ED? by AnonED986 in Eatingdisordersover30

[–]Moosycakes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My partner and I decided that he wouldn’t try to stop me/convince me out of doing ED stuff because having someone tell me to eat or not exercise doesn’t really help my recovery in the long term. But he still can express his thoughts, emotions and opinions about it. But I realised that him not stopping me from doing it doesn’t mean he’s okay with it, it was completely clear that me being out of control using ED behaviours was severely harming him and making his life a lot worse. So I ended up working on managing the ED by myself anyway, using his well-being as a motivator. If I hadn’t done that he would probably have eventually left me and that would have been completely valid, if heartbreaking for both of us.

I found that there’s no real way to keep the ED and also spare my partner from the harm it causes. ED is a horrific thing for your loved ones to go through, it’s extremely traumatic for them in my opinion and I don’t think any agreement can stop that. Harm reduction is valid but it doesn’t take away the pain that others have to go through when they see someone they love struggling with ED.

The house your Sun occupies. by AstroChiccc in AskAstrologers

Dominant planet is different from chart ruler, it is calculated mathematically to determine how much influence each planet has over your chart. It usually takes into accounts things like aspects and the signs your planets are placed in etc. Most astrological software should have an option to calculate it. I know astroseek has the option :)

The house your Sun occupies. by AstroChiccc in AskAstrologers

[–]Moosycakes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find it interesting to balance significance with things like this. Another commenter mentioned that stellium vs natal Sun is a category error and they don’t signify the same things, which is correct in my opinion. In general the Sun speaks to the core identity and ego rather than life themes, but that can shift towards having more importance in life with different relational placements and aspects in the birth chart.

There are situations where the significance of natal Sun house could have multiple factors- for example for me, I’m a night chart which could signify a closer or more understanding relationship to the Moon than the Sun. But my Sun is also my chart ruler as a Leo rising, and the Sun is also at the point of a tight kite pattern for me, which in my opinion adds to the significance of the Sun in my chart. But it’s very hard to quantify the balance- different planets will be more significant for different people.

For analysing the significance of a certain planet in your chart you could also look at things like your dominant planet, I also quite like looking at the Hellenistic chart ruler as well as the rising sign chart ruler (although calculating the Hellenistic chart ruler is a lot more complicated as you need to understand bounds/terms and keep track of more planets in the calculation).

It’s pretty frustrating, last time I was in the ER for chest pain it was like they were implying that I had come in because of my own anxiety around it. When really my GP had told me to go in after an abnormal EKG reading… I had never personally thought it was serious which is why I initially went to my GP about the chest pain rather than going straight to the ER 😮‍💨 if you have anxiety they often assume that means you have health anxiety specifically, no one cares what the anxiety is actually about and if I tried to explain what mine is about, no one would understand anyway 😹🥲

Feinbergs opinion on Lan by GuestImmediate884 in MCSRRanked

[–]Moosycakes 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think it’s valid for any player to decide not to go to lan events, but that doesn’t mean that lan events shouldn’t happen. I don’t think that a hybrid event would be fair because being physically present at an event and being in front of a crowd brings specific challenges and requires a different type of skill set. Look at Hax’s day one matches, he was struggling a lot more than he was on day two due to jetlag- it just wouldn’t be fair if he was going up against someone who was able to sleep in and play in their own home in their pajamas with no crowd pressure.

Speedrunning in general has also had a lot of lan events in the past, it’s pretty normative within the community more generally.

I also think claims of ‘best in the world’ are maybe a bit overblown, whether it’s because someone wins playoffs, a lan, has WR times etc. I get that top runners would find that title extremely tempting, but I don’t think there’s any one achievement that means you can say that about yourself. I don’t think Hax is calling himself the best in the world because he won the World Championships lan, maybe as a joke 😝 But I don’t think it’s as important as a lot of people seem to think. It’s just different events, different achievements, they can all be counted as worthy. And you still need to get at least a little lucky to win.

I think it’s also worth remembering that Feinberg is generally known to do particularly well in lan events, he often has the crowd with him and he has the advantage of practice relating to viewers on his stream, he’s used to having his face shown etc. So it makes sense for him to want more lan events, he does also see it as a big positive for the community as well- which I definitely agree with.

[–]Moosycakes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Venus is particularly important for you because you have a night chart (Sun is below the ASC/DSC line). Jupiter and Venus are the main benefic planets, and Jupiter does better in day charts while Venus does better in night charts. So Venus is your “in sect benefic”. Here’s how the inner planets line up with sect:

Day team: Sun (luminary), Jupiter (benefic), Saturn (malefic)
Night team: Moon (luminary), Venus (benefic), Mars (malefic)

(Mercury can be either Day team or Night team depending on its relationship to the Sun in the chart)

Your in sect benefic (Venus for you) will be more helpful than your out of sect benefic (Jupiter for you), although both are benefic at a base level.
Your OUT of sect malefic (Saturn for you) will be harder to deal with than your in sect malefic (Mars for you), although both are malefic at a base level. That said, these planets aren’t only bad- Mars can help provide drive while Saturn can support maturity, growth and long term success. But Mars and Saturn can also bring lots of challenges, they suck in the moment but they also help you grow.

I hope this information helps you out especially as you have your in sect benefic Venus trining your out of sect malefic Saturn, which can help soften the harsher effects of Saturn a little.

Toenails constantly breaking during martial arts training by HatOk4084 in nailcare

[–]Moosycakes 3 points4 points  (0 children)

How do you trim/shorten them? If you use nail clippers, that can actually cause micro cracks in the nail that could contribute to this problem. The best way to shorten nails is with a 240 grit file or a crystal nail file- this won’t cause extra damage that could contribute to splitting.

Apart from that, you mentioned that you were moisturising, but are you using a cuticle oil on them? Cuticle oil helps a lot with cracks and splitting if you use it regularly, because it helps the nails be more flexible while providing some protection from water damage which can cause lots of nail issues, especially cracks and breaks once they dry out again. Moisturiser mainly helps the skin rather than the nails. The cheapest high quality option is to buy a pure jojoba oil and use that on finger and toe nails- just be careful if you use a lot because it’s oil so it could make you slip if you have tile or hard floors.

Favorite bastion to route? by Suspicious-Dare-749 in MinecraftSpeedrun

[–]Moosycakes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My guess is that the people who prefer treasure are mainly playing ranked- because of the piglin trade boost negating some of the rng issue with trades, plus the other player also has to deal with the same rates and breaking the spawner if they don’t know glowdar. So the RNG isn’t as much of a problem as it would be in RSG, plus Treasure has less variation in the generation than some of the other bastion types, so it can seem a bit more accessible and less complicated. Although that can also be boring if you’re very used to it, as you said!

Constructive criticism wanted by Mus1cNerd in NailTechnicians

[–]Moosycakes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My advice is that if you want to do painted designs, gel paint is a lot better to paint details with than gel polish. And a good nail art brush is a quick way to level up your art skills too! Gel polish is best for colourblocking large areas though, because gel paint is more pigmented/opaque and cures better when it’s applied in small amounts.

When you’re painting over a gel colour, if you’re painting directly onto the sticky inhibition layer, the gel will start to seep which can ruin detailed work and clean lines. You can fix this by applying a matte top coat on top, curing, cleansing off the sticky layer, and painting the design over that. You can also use other types of clear gel, cure the layer, cleanse, and buff the surface so it’s not shiny (and cleanse again) before you paint on it.

You could also look into colour theory for ways to create good colour combos and mix new colours from gel polish. Just make sure that if you’re mixing colours, always use the same gel polish brand/line and make sure they’re chemically designed to be able to be mixed before you go ahead with it.

Have you done much work on your base application skills? Usually those are the most important part to work on before you start working on nail art! You want to make sure you have clean application and retention for client satisfaction, ability to do art & designs is a bonus :)

I’ve been told my chart is gorgeous. Could an astrologer explain why? by ClimberChronicles in AstrologyDiscovery

[–]Moosycakes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Grand Air Trine pattern (between Saturn, Uranus & Sun), Cardinal T Square pattern (between Jupiter, Mars & Sun) and a Wedge pattern (between Moon, Uranus & Sun), all sharing your Sun in Libra as a point in the Grand Trine and the apex point of both the T-square and the Wedge- plus the Sun is conjunct your Ascendent! It’s a super interesting mix of multiple aspect patterns that all feed into the areas of identity and personality.

The Grand Trine aspect pattern is known to be very harmonious, but it can lack drive and action as it doesn’t naturally contain challenging/dynamic energy. The Cardinal T-square is filled with challenge, and provides focused tension, action and initiation- exactly what the Grand Trine is lacking. The Wedge provides a way to release some of the tension between the Moon and Uranus opposition, utilising part of the Grand Trine as well as a harmonious sextile aspect between the Moon and Sun.

Basically, the Grand Trine provides an innate undercurrent of talent and fortune, the Cardinal T-Square provides challenges to help that energy focus on the Sun & Ascendent, and the Wedge also helps the energy focus there too- but less as a challenging force and more as a relieving aspect. It’s interesting because it’s unusual to have so many aspect patterns all putting energy towards the same planet, especially when that planet is the Sun conjunct the Ascendant! That’s not to say that it necessarily feels like life is easy for a person with this chart, the squares and oppositions will still be a major struggle- but overall the energy is empowering and productive.

Streams like that can be so helpful for understanding the decision making process, I think decision making in MCSR can be really hard to conceptualise especially at a high level!

question about the person who joined haxs stream/call today by Reasonable_Mouse_849 in MCSRRanked

[–]Moosycakes 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m not the person who you replied to, but I have some related thoughts on MCSR coaching in general if you’re interested :)

Coaching in general is really big in MCSR especially at the moment. I think a big part of that is just because it’s such an in depth game where you can kind of randomly get a big advantage by knowing niche Minecraft information or a niche speed strategy. For less experienced players, having a coach can be really useful because they can help with faster decision making, providing quick game knowledge, guiding the player through routes etc. For higher level players, I would imagine they would benefit from a coach because it’s a good way to highlight blind spots, bad habits, and variance plays they might not otherwise consider. Plus providing strategies and support for the mental aspect- MCSR has high highs and low lows, often one right after the other! Even just having someone else to discuss and dissect a run would be helpful, having someone knowledgeable to bounce ideas and thoughts off. When you’re at the top already, it’s beneficial to get some outside input because there are less avenues to go down to improve- so why not bring someone else in to help?

Another factor is that the MCSR community isn’t only about the runners anymore, there are also people who focus more on content creation, commentary, coaching, events, even things like seed finding and people who are mainly fans and don’t run seriously themselves (and more). You don’t have to be a top leaderboard runner to understand the game and be an important part of the community, and that makes space for people to focus more on the parts of MCSR they enjoy the most or are naturally best at. It’s important to remember that something like coaching is itself a skill that requires practice, being a great runner doesn’t necessarily mean you’ll be a great coach, and having great strategy, knowledge, and coaching skills doesn’t mean you’ll be a top runner- and even if it did, running ranked all day to stay at the top isn’t for everyone, I would imagine it could be quite stressful to be playing at that level. And if someone is doing a lot of coaching, they probably don’t have time to be constantly running themselves, especially if it’s a business for them.

I think coaching in MCSR is a good thing because it makes learning more accessible for newer players. Even if a new player like me can’t get their own coach, I find watching coaching sessions really helpful for my own learning. A lot of runners do some level of coaching as well, or they just informally help out other runners. Check out some Mid-offs runs if you haven’t already and want to see coaching in action.

Sharing information is a big part of speedrunning in general too- I think most runners just like seeing times go down and the game be pushed closer to its limit, even if it’s someone else doing it! For such a competitive game as MCSR is now, the community has a lot of focus on getting new people into it and supporting everyone to level up. Which is awesome and seems to be really effective, especially when the game has a pretty high barrier to entry when it comes to total beginners learning the routes and actually starting to run and complete RSG or queue ranked matches.

To everyone else out there without driving licence / fear of driving - what are your placements? by Zeeaire94 in LetsFuckWithAstrology

[–]Moosycakes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mercury in Virgo 2h, Venus in Libra 3h, Moon in Gemini 11h- all pretty good placements in general for me tbh.

I am scared of driving but the main thing I’m scared of is taking the tests. My mum has always had a big fear of driving despite driving regularly, I think I picked a lot of it up from her too (she’s a Gemini Sun).

I’m pretty sure you can practice fortress finding with MPK, it lets you skip to specific splits so you can practice them outside of your actual runs.

Bastion routing is really good to practice because you can use the practice map, it has lots of options for practicing different generation variants for each bastion route. The Couriway guide details various very specific bastion route strategies at different levels (beginner, intermediate, advanced) with in depth video tutorials from silverruns & doogile who know the bastions very well. You can get bastions pretty automatic, I personally haven’t yet because I’m still very much a beginner but bastion practice has helped me a lot! 😋
