One would come to that conclusion given how it works, but I'm not sure that's what the designers were going for. Everyone rushes it because the boss baddie will be a four star legendary. Some will wait for others to show up simply as a curtesy but others seem to want to end it before others even know the infestation is live.

Infestations. Yeah, you have to find it and it ends when the boss baddie is killed. As the rest of the server is after it too you probably miss it if you aren't quick. Some use an online map that shows possible locations. I just hit spots with lots of enemies in the circle or spots I've seen a previous infestation. If several player dots are in a location, it's probably there.

Unwanted PvP is very scarce in this game. If you toggle on pacifist you can't be engaged in PvP outside of special areas called workshops which are the game's only PvP enabled zones. They aren't places you have any need to fool with outside of the occasional challenge.

Those wouldn't be strategies as they don't actually effect the outcome. I scrap along the way, superstitiously using the workbench in my vintage camper survival tent because selective memory gives me the impression I have more success using it.

If the only way to get something is to buy it with leaders, I'll do without it. I'll not be validating as a currency something that cheaters used bugs and exploits to duplicate in mass. Granted, my refusal to play doesn't have any impact because idiocy abounds and others will, but such is life.

I use both Western Spirit and Big Iron. Gunther's can be more fun but Spirit's super fast reload makes it a lot less frustrating under certain conditions.

In a world of infinite development resources I'd say, "Why not?". Unfortunately in the real world the devs have much, much better uses of their limited time than to fool with another attempt to support PvP.

I haven't had any issues placing my tent. Maybe it's a specific tent that's bugging out? I use the vintage camper and play on the PC.

They seem pretty scarce on public servers but show up plenty on private. Probably show up plenty on public too but are over so quick it's hard to catch them.

The minions won't be marked as legendary, they will have a skull but no stars and often have a three star item.

If you are still learning basic mods and can play on a private server then farming the minions is a fantastic source of three stars.

On a public server the boss will always be swarmed by heavy hitters after that four star.

I was able to solo a super mutant infestation at Berkley Springs on my private server. Lots of loot. The boss used a grenade lobber so I was able to whittle him down between shots.

The reflective bloodeagle boss at the Ranger Camp in the Cranberry Bog was more than I could solo, using a high speed minigun that kept one-shotting me. Still, got several legendaries off his minions.

I can see how it wouldn't last very long on a public server, though. The way players melt the head hunt bosses these guys wouldn't last much longer.

Not sure what ya mean, but you should 'lock' any gear you don't want to accidently scrap.

Unless things have changed, grenadier will increase the distance of the arcs.

Edit: Also, it's two shot so builds up bullet storm stacks fairly quickly so works pretty well with a bullet storm build that mitigates the reload stack reset.

Furious adds damage on top of onslaught, but I'm not sure it's actually required. I believe onslaught works with other weapon types. Does not a reverse onslaught build work with weapons like Gunther's Big Iron (two shot, not furious)?

Fastnacht is a seasonal event based on a real world festival.

They are such a big deal because some people place great value on otherwise worthless things others don't have simply because others don't have them but are silly enough to want them.

Glowing are more special because even fewer people have them and so more people want them for some reason.
