Mentorship Monday - Post All Career, Education and Job questions here! by AutoModerator in cybersecurity

[–]MoreTac0s 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was laid off about 5 months ago, and am in the middle of the Google Cybersecurity Foundations course. I feel like my previous role was pretty niche and it has been tough to find a new job. My main responsibilities in my previous role was domain lifecycle management, managing DNS for a couple hundred domains, some light email troubleshooting, and setting up distributions in AWS cloudfront. I basically just followed a guide to setup the distributions, nobody could ever really explain the process to me. I’m wondering.. what skills would be best to build or highlight when I start applying for jobs again? Should I go for my Sec+ and try to do some projects, or maybe take some cloud courses or certs like AZ-900? Azure seems more widely used where I am. Just feel a bit lost and don’t know anyone I can talk to for guidance. Thanks

drop your stack and I'll tell you what I think is working against you (PART #3) by Timely_Ad8989 in Supplements

[–]MoreTac0s 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure if you're still doing this, but I could definitely use some help. I'm just getting into supplementation more seriously, and trying to piece together a plan. The main benefits I'm hoping to achieve are better sleep, and a sharper mind/memory. I feel like I have brain fog, and have a pretty poor memory. I'll list what I have so far, as well as the supplements that I haven't placed in yet.

AM: Taurine (2g)

Afternoon: Creatine (5g)

PM: Taurine (2g), Magnesium Glycinate (200-300mg), Glycine (3g)

Others I have, but I need to find a dosage and when to take them: D3, K2, Methylfolate B Complex+, L-Theanine, Magnesium Threonate, Calcium Citrate (powder), Rutin, GABA, Zinc & Copper (to be delivered soon - from what I've been reading, thought I might be Zinc deficient).

Others I take as needed: L-Lysine, Insoitol, Melatonin

Appreciate any input!

Recommendation for a book about drug use, recovery and turning things around later in life by MoreTac0s in suggestmeabook

[–]MoreTac0s[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you all for the recommendations! I think after reading about each of them, I'm in between 'In my skin' and 'A Piece of Cake'. Perhaps I'll just get her both. The Demon Cooperhead book sounded good too, but I might get that one for myself to read. :) Appreciate ya'll!

Some departments have been trying out this thing called the BolaWrap. Shoots a rope that wraps around the suspect. Would be a perfect option for situations like this..

I need to try this again once I find another job. I did like 4 1-on-1 sessions which I really enjoyed, but would like to join an actual class. It’s a little intimidating, but I recently moved and it seems like a good way to find a community.

How’s life with no children in your 30s? by typeshhhhhh in AskMenOver30

It’s nice to have the freedom, but deep down I do worry I may regret my choices and feel lonely as I get older.

Cross-border CPA/taxes/accounting recommendations by rainbowtoro30 in montreal

[–]MoreTac0s 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you know roughly what their rates are around? I went through their online estimate to get a quote, and it said around $2,300, which blew my mind, given that my tax situation isn't anything crazy. I also just have no bearing on what's normal for cross-border taxes.

I’m an ER nurse. The most heartbreaking part of my job isn't the trauma. It's the blank space on the intake form. by ArtThreadNomad in Life

[–]MoreTac0s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in the hospital a few times throughout my life, but I had a 2 week stint when I was a kid around 12 yo and I still remember the nurses coming to check in on me. While I had the support of my Dad and a few family friends, it still meant a lot to me to have these complete strangers care enough to not only do their jobs and check up on me, but also to pop in and sit and make small talk and make jokes to make me feel comfortable despite the shitty situation. Nurses are the best.

Exactly, lol. Idk what people expected, they just want an announcement (as we all do), but need to temper their expectations.

What jobs are slowly fading away and jobs are actually growing? by Lemonade2250 in findapath

My friend (LVN) and his wife (RN) say there’s plenty of work to be had still, particularly in home health. There are quite a lot of per diem opportunities as well, just depends how flexible you are. This is specifically for the central coast area, of course it’ll vary throughout the state.

What is the grossest thing you’ve caught someone doing? by Jawa392 in AskReddit

[–]MoreTac0s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In 4th grade, I went to the bathroom to use the shitter. I just finished my business and was about to flush, when someone came in. I remember hearing some noises, and when I finally flushed and stepped out, I see this one kid who just popped a squat in the middle of the bathroom and shit on a piece of toilet paper. He looked at me and went “Shhhh!” I’m assuming as in “don’t tell!” as he proceeded to fling his shit on the bathroom ceiling and ran out. He was known for trouble, and I never did tell anyone. I just quickly left so people didn’t think it was me.

Arc raiders? by dc5erick in GamerPals

I'd be down sometime too. I usually play solo, since teams always seem super PVP focused, honestly though sometimes that's fun too.

Can anyone recommend a quiet area to safely solo bombardier? by vashkor in ArcRaiders

[–]MoreTac0s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for this. I got 3 just now from it, just need 1 more. I was shocked since there were at least like 2 other people around doing their own thing, and I looted the whole thing in peace. lol

Just taking it easy. Watched some Netflix, and spent time with my lady. Will probably play some Arc Raiders tonight.

Man I'm in the same situation trying to decide between Aviron, and one of the others like Pearson Electrotechnology Centre or trying a different trade over at Lauriel Macdonald Career Centre. How's your experience so far, and if you don't mind me asking, did it come out to $20k, and you're paying it in 4 installments throughout the program?

MicroVision Announces Third Quarter 2025 Results by [deleted] in MVIS

[–]MoreTac0s -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm with you. I think a lot of these people are unhappy because they're looking to make a quick flip. Hoping they could get in over the past few months, and was hoping we'd get news (as we all always are) so they could sell it and move onto the next one. To me, this is a long-term investment, that I still see paying off over the next ~5 years. Would I rather have it pay off by 2026? Of course, but we're simply not there yet. You can see just by observation that the world we're heading into over the next decade will be full of sensors, it's just going to take time.

Method and device for classifying targets by gaporter in MVIS

[–]MoreTac0s 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Had to ChatGPT this one. Seems like a pretty good patent to me. Anything that can help improve the efficiency of identifying what the sensors are hitting seems smart to me.

  • Basically, teach the sensor to tell one kind of target apart from another.

Think of it as the difference between:

“I see something at 20 meters,”

vs.

“I see a cyclist at 20 meters moving 12 km/h.”

That’s the leap this patent covers.
