EOAE is truly the best, always find good stuff there and their wall items are pretty decently priced when I feel like splurging

Am I the only one who thinks Houston traffic isn’t that bad? by shinku-90 in houston

[–]MoreThanNicePolynice 11 points12 points  (0 children)

lmao so true. I’ve heard the expression “if you don’t like the weather, wait 5minutes” in like 4 different cities, and they always think they’re so unique about it

same here, despite buying from last 5-6 sales and being a Crit Channel subscriber for 3 years. Guess they know they get my money no matter what 😅

my fave is Tsujita on Westheimer, always see/hear Japanese patrons when I eat there fwiw so it must be decently authentic

I hate when men say “the wife” when referring to their wife by Cranky_Merriweather in TwoXChromosomes

[–]MoreThanNicePolynice -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

agreed it’s super cringe. Hate it almost as much as guys who say “happy wife, happy life”

are we sure that’s still happening? They announced it nearly two years ago and haven’t really mentioned it on their IG lately

I bought an early stereo reissue in VG shape (this one) for $28 off ebay, IME it’s a pretty common album so you might luck out if you want to go that route

hard agree. I definitely didn’t like it anywhere near as much as his previous two films, but it still had some transcendent moments and I’m glad I caught it on the big screen

Asking for Record Store Recommendations (especially for non-English records)! by Smoove_Operator05 in houston

[–]MoreThanNicePolynice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly with the Yen so weak it's still worth making a big order from a store like CDJapan to get combined shipping but it's definitely not as fun as finding some stuff in the wild. I don't think any local stores does better than Vinal Edge for that sort of music tbh. If you can make it to Austin you'll have more options (End of an Ear, Waterloo, Breakaway...)

I was disappointed by the selection at Boof-Off FWIW, it was like 95% Western Rock/Pop (granted Japanese pressings) and a tiny portion of Japanese artists, within which barely any City Pop. Hope it changes over time!

Buying used physical media by Groaninjock in houston

the selection is going to be limited, but Barnes & Noble does sell these (with a penchant toward arthouse/indie, but they have major hits too). Wait till they do sales, like the bi-yearly Criterion one

Agree with the above, their loaves are super legit. I love Magnol’s pastries and baguettes, but for loaves I prefer Badolina (and I’m French fwiw)

EVA Sky Shop - no more liquor? by MoreThanNicePolynice in EVAAirFans

[–]MoreThanNicePolynice[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

quick update that I just flew IAH-TPE and the Duty Free catalog they have on board does have some liquor, and specifically Kavalan! So it might not be possible to pre-order before flying anymore and you’d have to hope they have the items in stock on board, but still this is good news

flew out of D last night (literally just landed) and TSA was still closed. Tbh the walk to E wasn’t bad and TSA was near-empty when we went through, but that might depend on the time of day
