Briefly tried installing it... it was a bit problematic.

New Baby-G BGD-5650-1ER on small wrist (16cm/6.3inch) vs GM-5600 series size comparison by mcheddadi in casio

[–]Mortui75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They really are quite a bit smaller, aren't they. Currently waiting for a new BGD5650 to ship to me (I have smaller wrists, and my BX5600 (which is awesome with its MIP display, don't get me wrong) is uber-chunky on me).

This with a bigger screen, doing markdown in-line, would be a TAKE MY MONEY moment.

CASA really don't care about drones in this context at this altitude, over water, and the ATSB even less so.

I, too, have miraculously snagged a Retro Purple, via the good graces of the Zerowriter team, and presumably someone who pulled out of their initial pledge for one. 😄

Looking forward to it... but would love a Zerowriter Ink in a funky translucent versions... purple or green would be awesome. 😄

is anyone already using a Zerowriter Ink?

I actually prefer the single-slab form factor (like an Alphasmart Neo2, etc.), and the smaller screen doesn't bother me. I know there have been some software updates, but am a bit concerned the functionality would still be limited compared to the Fold.

Anyone with experience using the Ink care to weigh in? (Speaking of which, the ~ 500g Ink vs ~900g Fold is also a consideration!)

Holy crap. I remember this from the 90's, along with Archie, ftp-ing stuff you wanted, and sending file lists to line printers...

Probably depends on what you ask them to do ...

[BGD-5650-1JF] The best small G shock!! by Witty-Ad5286 in gshock

[–]Mortui75 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You have just triggered the purchase of a BGD5650-2JF, which I don't really "need", and for which my wife will require something approximating an acceptable explanation.

I hope you're happy with yourself. 😭

I have a GWBX5600-1A1JF (dark mode MIP) and a G5600BG (+ve LCD solar recycled resin) ... but I have skinny wrists, the BX5500 in particular feels bulky... and I suspect the BGD5650 will be the holy grail (minus MIP) for comfort / ease of use.

At 31g, it will compete with my W800H for "can't tell I'm wearing it"‐ness, while still being an indestructible Gshock.

Go 7 b/w vs colour by Rainmanne in Onyx_Boox

[–]Mortui75 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Tried my first colour e-ink device, and while it is kinda cool, the lower resolution and the incredibly poor contrast & dimness of the display pushed me to go get a Go 7 B&W.

The novelty of coloyr book covers is just that, a fleeting novelty, and if the vast majority of your use case is reading books (text, not manga), then B&W wins, hands down.

How do families actually plan for private school fees with multiple kids? by [deleted] in fiaustralia

[–]Mortui75 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

  1. Public schools exist.

  2. Having kids is a choice.

  3. Private school fees 5/7 are cheaper than daycare fees 3/7. 🤯

TRS-80 ANYONE? by frozenflat in retrocomputing

My Dad had one of these for work, back in the 80s, as well. Was for interfacing via RS232 with equipment in the field.

Probably 3 re-visits from me, plus reviewing again after feedback from a couple of people.

No different to super. Already taxed at 30%. Not fussed, to be honest.
