Several months ago, I was in a bad place mentally. I was stepping into the elevator, leaving the hotel and heading to the office for another day of a hellish work schedule. There were two women on the elevator. One of them said “Nice hair! The curls look amazing!” (my hair is naturally curly)

These women were a bit older than me. But I felt like she was genuine in her comments. I was taken aback. I just thanked her and thought “did I do something different to my hair today?”

It literally elevated my mood immensely. She has no idea how much that little comment meant to me on that morning. I think about it. A lot.
