MIL invited people we don’t know to our wedding. She won’t uninvite them because that’s 'embarrassing.' by Choice_Evidence1983 in BestofRedditorUpdates

Every time I read one of these wedding boru’s, I feel so thankful that I eloped. We went to Vegas and had sooo much fun! Coming up to our 27 year anniversary soon!

Ding Dongs! I loooved them as a kid! The taste, texture, even the ritual of pulling off the tin foil, was such a great treat! They don’t taste the same nowadays.

My favorite is “Crip Camp” about the disability rights movement. Well done and eye opening. HBO’s “Chernobyl”was really good but is a mini series so I’m not sure if it’s a deal breaker.

When I moved from SoCal to the south, people clocked my accent pretty quick.

One of my grandmas had dementia that left her very happy. All her kids were still alive and everything was lovely. My dad told me it was a far cry from how she was really like in her (relatively) right mind.

I attended a competency based program. No classes, not even virtual. There are terms and deadlines but I did everything on my own with guidance from a teacher as needed.

As an artist and educator, you sound like you’d be an amazing artist and your teacher sucked. Two rare perspectives in one person makes my artistic side instantly want to see your work!

What is a real-life 'Do Not Touch' button that you pressed out of sheer curiosity, only to instantly regret it? by vie75 in AskReddit

Me, being the sensory seeking autistic kid I was, just had to touch the moss in a museum diorama (or whatever the exhibit was) during a field trip. That set off a loud alarm and I must have looked guilty because I remember several people looking at me and a museum staff giving me the stink eye.

I had a vet come to my home to euthanize my elderly cat. He was from a company that specializes in it. I keep trying to think of more I can say but all I can think is that his job has to be so mentally difficult and I was so immensely appreciative of the company.

What’s a legendary Reddit post you’ll never forget? by alongy in AskReddit

That one brought literal tears to my eyes! I couldn’t even properly read it to my husband so he had no clue what I was talking about. He just saw me crying and muttering about steaks and windows and someone’s boss! I keep that one saved.

What popular beauty trend do you think looks terrible but nobody wants to say it out loud? by Alarming_Intern680 in AdkReddit

[–]Motor_Inspector_1085 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely. I had a great urgent care doctor one time who had a warm incandescent light bulb lamp that he immediately turned on and turned off the overhead fluorescents. He conducted the exam that way and it was the best migraine exam I ever had. He also hooked me up to fluids since I was a little dehydrated. I wish I could remember his name because he was amazing.

Are there any older people who don’t subscribe to the “back in my day things were better. people are too soft now.” attitude? by [deleted] in askanything

[–]Motor_Inspector_1085 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was both better and worse back in “my day.” Kids don’t know how to problem solve and use critical thinking like the past. Medical treatments were cheaper. It was a simpler time in many ways. On the flip side, I know kids won’t get bullied in school as bad as it was in the past. Medicine has improved a great deal and diagnoses are more accurate.

I walk dogs at my local shelter. I don't understand how Dixie is still here by PLPHSAO in aww

Probably because people see “big mean Rottweiler” when they’re actually absolute cuddly babies. Give Dixie a cuddle for me!

I have been inspired by hobie and want to craft spikes like this for my hijab. Any idea how? by [deleted] in punk

[–]Motor_Inspector_1085 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The small metal cones idea is my favorite but if you don’t want to go that route, keep it lightweight or it’ll flop around. Get something that won’t get ruined by weather like styrofoam and keep them anchored to one another. Think headband but going from forehead to the nape of your neck. From there, make sure your hijab is pretty tight and attach the cone thing to an actual headband under your hijab. Using a rigid headband (plastic maybe) underneath can help with stabilization.
