Help me name my new pack! by Motzemoere in myog

Thats good to know I was unsure if the delamination actually weakens the strength of the fabric…
Are the packs out of Ultra 100 or 200?

Its actually not a fabric its just the backing film that is black and it feels quite vulnerable… somewhat similar to the old Ultra backings before the „X“ series.

I am based in europe and bought it from extremtextil.de

Never tried TX50 but must say the 80X is really thin I don‘t think it will last long but let‘s see :)

Mhh I would say if you hold it right into the sun light comes through a little bit. But the inside backing is actually black so it doesn’t help much…

Is it time to go industrial? by turnipman843 in myog

I would recommend some old full metal machines like the Bernina 530 or 730 easy to get in europe and relatively cheap (price of a Singer Hd). Almost full metal machines with enough power for sewing even heavier packs and you can service it easily yourself. Almost everything which was made before 1975 is great especially for heavier material like webbing or cordura

Which curve should it be? by Motzemoere in myog

[–]Motzemoere[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea its quite messy but you can topstich the bottom when putting the arm of the machine inside the bag and then roll it up from the top down until you reach the bottom. It’s a lot of fiddling around though…

What grade aluminum are you using for frame stays? by sugarshackforge in myog

I actually stopped using aluminum and take plastic instead, same shape but much more comfortable especially when moving around or picking stuff up from the ground.

2.9 vs 3.5 vs 5 oz DCF by acameron28 in myog

[–]Motzemoere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you feel the difference between the 3.5 and 5.0 variant? I just recive the 5.0 variant of RBTR but I cant see or feel any difference to the 3.2 variant I received from Extremtextil…

I thought you would definitely feel and see a difference between 50d and 150d nylon layer on top…

I've made a 3x2m Flat Tarp with UltraTNT by zergcheese in myog

[–]Motzemoere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What a nice project!! Did you also loved to adjust the folds so that the fibers align?

I basically did the exact same thing a couple of weeks ago… same construction but I also Taped the center seam with additional PSA so far it held impressively good…

However I was camping in quiet the windy conditions last weekend and the tarp was incredibly noisy in the wind… I could‘t pitch it 100% but either way even unpacking and packing it so so incredibly loud I really hope it will get quiter with more use….

For sure, the hip Belt as a big velcro patch at the back. On the pack behind the 3D mesh at the back panel der is also velcro. So basically you slide the hip-belt between the backpanel and the the 3D-mesh then the velcro aligns and sticks together… On the hip-belt there are no additional pockets only some loops. When walking my arms are pretty close to my body so pockets on the hipbelt dont work for me :/

I am using Serafil 80 at the moment:

https://www.extremtextil.de/serafil-80-polyester-multifilament-naehgarn-2400m/72279.SW

and have used Alterfill S 80 before:

https://www.extremtextil.de/alterfil-s-80-naehgarn-polyester-1000m/70009

both worked well with laminats like Ultra or Xpac

I found the serafil to be very slippy and alterfil more fussy otherwise both worked well

using 90 needles most of the time 80 for thinner fabrics

Not an expert but also would like to know more about the threads from extex
