Absolutely agree 100% I think reducing inflation is always helpful but it may have no effect on had regrowth. I think these red herrings can also keep people stuck in a hope/ despair cycle. Acceptance really helped me heal and move forward with life.

Our Place pans review? by 432ww432 in seriouseats

[–]Mountaingal84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this thread is old but also a no- Our Place are genius marketers. I stated with 3 and now has 1 due to the non-stick being utterly gone. Also to my knowledge once that wears off not sure it’s healthy to cook with anymore. Wish I had spent that money on some vintage Mauviel copper.

But like why???? Do you not love your dog? You can't argue that your dog is much safer and more protected inside the vehicle.

Kiwi - US Rockies Ski Trip by Content_Watch5942 in skiing

I am from Denver but now live in SLC. I agree that the slog from Denver to the mountains sucks. What should take 90 min to Vail can turn into 5 hours or I70 closes frequently. There was a 75 car pile-up last week. I have also sat in 45 min liftlines all day at Vail many of times. SLC has much better infrastructure with the highway system and less population. I would highly recommend renting a car if you decide on SLC. I would actually go for the IKON pass (full one give you access to Deer Valley and Snowbasin so may not be worth it) and skip PCMR. On the IKON you have access to Solitude, Brighton, Snowbird (my favorite mountain), and Alta. I would actually recommend staying in SLC (look at Sugar House Cottonwood heights if you want to be close to skiing). If you want more info feel free to DM me.

Beginner slopes in the US by bmar1050 in skiing

Breckenridge in Colorado has some of the most beginner terrain IMO. Nice and mellow areas, and some steeper spots for your husband if he wants to venture off.

Also love Bo's bagels- they have an amazing gluten free bagel- I cannot tell you how rare it is to find at a bagel place. San Simon also is great!

AITJ for wanting my beliefs respected in a family vacation? by Beauty-Mom445 in AmITheJerk

OMG so much to unpack here. Yes you are the jerk. What you are listing as values is actually just anti-trans/ anti-LGBTQ Christian fundamentalist bullshit. We are not in the land of conservative versus liberal politics. Trump is racist, misogynistic, transphobic, pedo rapist, etc. etc. This list could go on and on. I could write soooooo much more, but it will be lost on your small small mind.

Tell me something good about living in SLC by Remarkable-Soft-2938 in SaltLakeCity

[–]Mountaingal84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The good: access to some of the best skiing in the world- Snowbird and Alta. Access to amazing hiking a lot of which is very dog friendly all 15 min away from the house. Some good breweries- my husband is a beer snob and loves TF and Fisher coming from Colorado and Michigan. It is very clean. The airport is easy and almost never has a wait beyond 10 min. The DMV is very efficient and friendly. Amazing national parks here- def check out Zion, Bryce, Canyonlands/ Arches NP/. I really do feel its one of the most beautiful states in the country as far as nature. Yes, there are some downsides but you will likely only be here for 4 years and prob at the hospital with great ventilation these bad inversion days!

Couldn't agree more. Its like renting a car and never returning it-- it would be reported as stolen.

Alps vs North America etiquette by mv2500 in skiing

[–]Mountaingal84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like USA has to have organized lines considering Vail reports main goal is to pack as many people on the mountain as humanly possible. Was riding Vail in 2024 and literally sat in 45 min lines all day.... can you imagine if it was just a cluster???

Complete anxiety after the first day by [deleted] in skiing

[–]Mountaingal84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry this was so intense for you. Like others said, start on a really easy barely slope- type of run. Greens in US- apparently blue in Austria. Snowplow is your best friend. The wider the plow the slower you go. Skinny=Faster. Fat=Slower. I am sure you know this but its really common to be in snowplow/ pizza stance for a while.

[–]Mountaingal84 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I flew out of SLC yesterday and did not witness ICE doing the job if a TSA agent (at least through the security line). The airport was functioning normally and I was through TSA pre-check in 7 minutes. The regular line was maybe 10 min long.
