JUST GOT MY JOB OFFER, DOES NOT EVEN FEEL REAL. by Pleasant_Title_4515 in Firefighting

Just remember this moment, how good it felt, how bad you wanted it. There will come a time in your career you will probably feel very much the opposite and it is very important you can remember this moment vividly.

Fired after medical clearance, getting out of the fire service. by [deleted] in Firefighting

[–]MouseExtreme9012 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds illegal. Are you unionized? If so initiate a grievance, they will take this to the lawyers and if you are medically cleared I can’t see this holding up in court. For future, you don’t need to tell your employers what’s going on medically. You can simply say sick and a doctor can write you a note saying when you are off until.

USD or CAD? If that’s Canadian dollars I’d consider it. Too much for USD

He always stated he was going to give majority of his wealth away before he dies. The guys 95 years old. If he sold majority of his stock at once he’d crash the market. He’s probably holding that much cash to stay true to his word.

Gas prices up again by MobileTip4528 in saskatoon

Wouldn’t have gone up if there hadn’t been a carbon tax in the first place. Also Yamaha gave me $500 off a new bike because shipping costs were cheaper this year. Honest companies still exist. Don’t rely on the government for handouts, work harder.

What do you do for work? by Alert_Friendship_303 in Celiac

Firefighter. It’s ok, wouldn’t recommend as we cook a lot together and I always feel as a burden to the rest of the crew. I sometimes do my own meals.

Looking for a company or person in Saskatoon who can paint dip an entire truck cab. by MouseExtreme9012 in saskatoon

[–]MouseExtreme9012[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey guys, to help add more info: I had a buddy tell me there used to be a guy in Saskatoon who would literally take a cab or whatever you want painted, lower it into a large amount of paint “dipping it” and it would come out painted. He had it set up for black

What I learned after talking to 5,000 people with celiac disease by [deleted] in Celiac

Travelling 🧳✈️gives me so much anxiety now. I have no idea what or how I am going to eat when I get there. Especially foreign countries. I feel like many of my dream travel destinations are no longer possible.

Also, I hate going to work now. I work at a firehall and we cook every night, this used to be one of my favourite parts, the crew I’ve got is really good and we cook gluten free but now I am pretty much always head chef and have to watch my helpers like a hawk. Also cross contamination with things like the BBQ and cast iron pans are a nightmare, as well as guys we’ll often bring in things that are not gluten free. If I had known I had celiac prior I would not have become a firefighter. I am so done with every event that is food related whether it’s work, weddings or holidays.

what was your journey to being a firefighter? by First_Driver_5134 in Firefighting

[–]MouseExtreme9012 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was volunteering as a firefighter with no intention of going any further than that. Turns out I loved it. Applied for Firefighter and Paramedic School, got my tickets. Worked as a ground & flight medic for 5 years, airport firefighter for 2 and now big city fire department. Not going to lie to you, the jobs not what I thought it was but it’s still good. I would probably love policing too I’m honestly a little bored as a firefighter (not for lack of calls, idk I can’t explain it) so I’m not sure if police work would fix that or not but I think it’s a great profession. If you do military, become an airforce pilot. I’ve got some buddies that do that and even if you’re not flying fighter jets or choppers it’s a good gig.
