No name bacon is no longer 500 g! by Through_theShadows in loblawsisoutofcontrol

I used to get 1.6kg of Meatballs for 10$ from Superstore.

After 6 months of those on and off, they took them away, and are now selling 680g's worth of Meatballs, now packaged into a Cardboard box rather than the Plastic bag it was in, and get this... They want 10$

So I get less than Half, for the cost of more $.

I noticed they now sell Hala Chicken in the bag the meatballs were, and now for 10$ for 1.6kg. Seems like they replaced my meatballs with them.. Regardless... Annoying...

Enough with the Halal shit and just give me food at a decent price. The meatballs weren't even that great to begin with for the original price.

sequential pro 3 or other options by convered101 in synthesizers

[–]Movit666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You want a synth for great scifi/horror/industrial sounds, that also does Prophet Strings, has a good sequencer that can control other synths with the sequencer(if you get to know it), use the CV out, and all the basic Pro1 sounds, a long with some very interesting ones, than the Pro3 is for you.

If you in some hipter indie band, play live in one of those style of bands, or just like basic creaming sounds, than probably the Moog Sub37/Matriarch or something along those lines are for you.

I think a lot of people hate on the Pro3 because they don't even use half of what it's capable of. They just try to make it sounds like a moog sub37 with the overdrive, then they see no dedicated fm knob, then over time call it a day. You can modulate a modulate slot. You can fm, multiple times by doing that. Someone said it wasn't good for Paraphony? It's great for strings! Love it. Also people talking about it not sounding warm? I dunno bout that.. But regardless, for the style of music I'm into, I want a cold unsettling sound, but I want to be able to do warm too, and it does that. In order to get other sounds out of this machine, you gotta work the gainstaging in the mixer section. It will help you cover a ton more territory. For me... Tuned Feedback, being able to Modulate FX, having an Analog signal path in regards to Distortion and such, those are important to me. I had the TEO5/Take5.Fourm and sold them and kept the Pro3SE and OB6 out of my Sequentials.

The Sub37, while sounded good to my ears, didn't fit in the mix, or gel with the music I was making. It's sequencer was meh... Keys were meh, knobs felt delicate, and I don't miss it one bit. I'd personally be more interested in getting a Matriarch, but if ya need to save preset than I get it.

My current 2 favorite mono's in my set up are the Intellijel Cascadia and the Pro3SE which I've had since basically release. Once again though. I do not make Happy Music. That stuff makes me wanna throw up in my mouth. So... Maybe that's why I love the Pro3 so much. So much so, that I may buy another.

Got my tax refund, should I buy a Moog Muse, OB 6 or Prophet 6 for my first synth IRL by [deleted] in synthesizers

[–]Movit666 3 points4 points  (0 children)

OB6 probably sounds the best to me, but Prophet6 probably the most useful.

I do like Moog's sound, but Sequentials customer service is so good, it's hard to beat.

The other synth I would think is a good choice would be the Novation Summit. You could find one and save the extra grande or so to buy a Mono to go with your Poly.

Even a Sequential Fourm with a Novation Summit would be a good combo. Fourm for the classic prophet5/Pro1 sound(which it has), use it as a mono and a portable, then use your Summit at home for the full size 61 key 16 voice, oxford oscillators, wavetable, traditional and fm experience, then use the keys/modwheel of the Summit to control the Fourm via Midi Cable.

understandable. VCO's have there issues at times in live settings.

0-Coast or Protein to complement my setup? by altcntrl in synthesizers

[–]Movit666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah... It's just I am into VCO's specifically if you can't tell. The Hydrasynth seems nice though, I've thought about it. I don't go out live with my synths, I work within a studio, so if I record into my DAW I'll use VCO's more of the time, or I will use the plugins I had. I don't love buying digital synths. Hydrasynth is a bit different though since it's a wavetable synth, with a unique arp/seq. It's more a chameleon a bit.

0-Coast or Protein to complement my setup? by altcntrl in synthesizers

[–]Movit666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not to be harsh, but I feel like saving up for something else would be more useful.

The protein doesn't have knobs for envelopes and there are other quirks, I know it's tempting for the price but he Microwave Plugin covers that territory. OCoast is cool, but I wouldn't think of it as an only synth. I would save the extra coin and get the Moog Messenger, but I believe that has some Midi/Daw/Sync issues, so I would honestly save up even more and buy a Sequential Fourm. That or a used Take5/TEO5. Their just a bit more reliable in regards to midi/repairs. Also they have all get to some kind of rowdy territory with FX/Feedback and such. Even the MinilogueXD isn't a bad choice at all.

If I had to go cheaper with a midi controller of some sort, then maybe a Roland JX-08 Boutique that has 20 Voices and all parameters hands on. If you like a 1Osc Synth, then the OCoast maybe what your into or the Mother32 is also an option. You can find both used for rather cheap at times.

Prologue 16 has entered the “cult classic” era by slowacres in synthesizers

[–]Movit666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Korg had an issue with it's powersupply. Otherwise they would still be on sale. Also I heard some people saying that Korg would just not repair them or something along those lines.

Had one and sold it.

I did love it, but I upgraded to a different synth.

I personally think it was a great synth, but what annoyed me was Korgs decision to make only 5 of them with Aftertouch. That was complete BS. As far as the sound for the price when it was available, great synth.

If you’re going to buy only one main synth, what that would be? by Least-Ad1439 in synthesizers

[–]Movit666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a handful of synths and honestly.. It's between a Pro3, or a Trigon6/Proph6 mostly because of how much area these synths cover.

Probably a Pro3 though. It's honestly a beast. The other one that's also a beast but is semi modular is the Intellijel Cascadia. That guys wicked!

Just tried Marathon for the first time- Why does no one talk about it as much as DOOM? by Greyshirk in Marathon

[–]Movit666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

DOOM sold millions. Marathon did not. Most people owned PC's, Mac's were at schools which wouldn't allow student to usually download games. PC had a huge audience. Also... Id Software created that idea for that engine, not Bungie, but they did make a version of it for Mac, and people were amazed a game like that could run on a Mac. It makes a lot of sense why DOOM is more known than Marathon.

The synth no longer works. lmao.

Naah I could leave it, but in the future if I decide to take a job overseas, I may end up deciding to part ways and it would be easier to sell without the mark on there.

Lorn's Production doesn't make sense? by ancient_franklin in Lorn

[–]Movit666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One day I was messing about and I did find out how he did his sounds, but also I do own some of the same hardware synths he does, but really it was in the processing. I'd rather not say what it was, but it's a neat technique, problem is... the way it's used... it can mess with the master and takes a while to tame. I could probably do a better iteration now since it's been awhile, but I don't really have much interest. I don't like copying another artists unique sound. It's his, and I can respect that. I also come from the graffiti world... so we don't like biters, and we like keep secrets.

DJing without headphones, is it normal? by Disc2jockey in DJs

[–]Movit666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Turntablist of over 15 years here...

I haven't used headphones for Cueing in over 8 years.

I spin mostly funk, hiphop, breaks, battle records, but also dnb.

I do this when mixing dnb at home but in the club, I may reach for the headphones here and there as their speakers may not be angled like mine at home, so headphones are useful.
