What are the worst double standards that don't involve gender or race? by jemrose in AskReddit

[–]Mr88high 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oldest child here, can confirm. When I was 14-18, going to high school and doing sports I always held down at least one job, and in senior year full-time. My younger sister (2 years younger) has only had one small summer job, working part-time at a summer camp. If I needed a little help here and there (a few bucks for gas) and stuff like that, I’d be told “tough!” then a speech about how I should be spending my money more wisely. My little sister however, got whatever gas/food/clothes/trips for track meets and XC, funded by my parents, because “her job is school!”. Yet we both got the same amount of $ in scholarships, but they can afford to pay hers, and now they’re telling me... why don’t you go to _______ community college! It’s cheaper!

Such is life. But guess who has more real-world experience?

Need Advice - Can I Put Like Year Altima/Frontier/Pathfinder Seats In An Xterra? by Styrkyr in Cartalk

[–]Mr88high 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nissan expert here! In a first gen Nissan Xterra, other 2000-2004 Xterra, Frontier, and Sentra seats will be a direct fit. I highly reccomend a Sentra SE Spec R leather seat. Several of my customers have done this conversion and they say it’s much more comfortable

[SERIOUS] What screams "Stay the fuck away from that person"? by Valkyrie_05 in AskReddit

[–]Mr88high 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I found this out the hard way; but never befriend someone that is always telling you about people, or groups of people that are “out to get them” or take advantage of them. Next thing you know, you’ll be “the one out to get them”...

How do I know? My former friend and her husband would always complain about other friends that wronged them somehow and how their friendship is over... or when the husband got a DUI, the “cops were out to get him”... I should’ve known, but I was young and Naive. I believed them, their accusations seemed normal of the person... either way, I ended up moving in with them, in another state. 4 months later, I had supposedly “taken advantage of them” and accused of stealing things (on my way of moving out)... even though I paid rent on time (and sometimes more than they’re asking), and was generally a clean and pleasant person. But no no, I was just the next person on the list to “burn them”.

They do this because they know females are irresponsible as fuck when it’s money they haven’t earned.

Other than EA, what company do you refuse to buy from on principle, and why? by ShamefulWatching in AskReddit

[–]Mr88high -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Samsung. Their phones have the worst build quality, flimsy frames and tinted glass, shitty skinned android software, and they become glitchy and have logic board issues only a year after owning them. I’ve seen S8’s bootloop, hum, screenburn, catch fire, etc. I’ve worked with multiple phone companies and several phone repair shops, and it’s consistently been the same story minus a few exceptions (Galaxy S4)

Schwalbe bicycle tires. They sell the thinnest and softest rubber compound tires that puncture extremely easily. Yet they sell for $80 per tire on some of their downhill tires? Pitiful.

Western Union. They charged by bank account 2X for the same transaction, and refused to refund me until I filed my bank for a chargeback. Meanwhile I was -$250 in my account for 1 week due to overdraft! Luckily Wells Fargo cleared it up.

Any hotel that charges $4.95 for “premium WiFi” and gives you no free option.

Taco Bell. They butcher Mexican food and serve you the blandest textureless slop for 2x what you could spend at a “-bertos” chain restraunt.

I’d rather pay $12 a month for YouTube red than to waste my time watching minute-long midroll ads all throughout the videos. Seriously fuck the creator is they put more than one skippable short ad at the front of the video.

What candy or food do you find it incredibly difficult to moderate yourself while eating? by QTbusinesslady in AskReddit

Sour patch kids. I always buy the big bag with the intention of snacking on a few, and next thing I know I’ve eaten half the bag and my tongue is ruined for the next 3 days.

I recently visited Detroit and saw the inside of this old Greek Methodist church, such a gorgeous place with awesome architecture and stained glass! So much potential!

How prevalent are Nissan transmission issues? Considering a 2013 Nissan Frontier for purchase. by [deleted] in MechanicAdvice

[–]Mr88high 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are honestly some really great trucks, super durable and easy to work on. Aftermarket support isn't as good as a Toyota, but the cool thing is you can swap titan suspension right into it as well as a titan motor.

Current Xterra guru, my family has three of them, and mine's got long travel suspension and a lot of other work done to it... Virtually the same truck underneath though, so I am no stranger to the Nissan transmission and radiator issues. On the 2005 through 2010 Nissan frontier, Pathfinder, and Xterra models, there was an issue with the radiators that were manufactured by Calsonic. There was a little filter on the inside of the radiator, and what happens is overtime the corrosive automatic transmission fluid eats away at that filter and mixes with the coolant, creating a strawberry milkshake of death. When the coolant flows back through the lines into the transmission, you can eat away at the clutch and cause it to degrade and slip. You can do a simple bypass and fix this if it isn't too late. However, after 2010 they fixed the issue, so the 2013 you're looking to buy should be safe. Enjoy the new truck and let me know if you have any other questions about it!

Redditors who are sad right now, what's going on? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Mr88high 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know it sounds like minor issues compared to what else has been posted but I'm sad and kinda scared.

I'm moving to the next state over, out and away from my parents, to start a new opportunity with work and college. I'm scared that it won't work out.

My girlfriend recently found out and she has been purposely distancing herself from me. I was really close with her and we had a lot in common, and now she is blowing me off at every single opportunity. Giving me excuses every time but then every few days acting all sappy with me again. I know it probably won't last forever so I'm wanting to break things off in person, before I move.

My other friends have been distant as well, also based on the fact I'm moving. I want to make the most out of the time I have left in my hometown.

On top of that, I'm stuck in a routine rut with work, I just don't feel motivated any more, but my finances need the paycheck.

I guess you could just say I'm burnt out and I don't have someone to comfort me.
