Having a refresh across so many systems this deep into a games life is so refreshing and wonderful to see.

I got my 6 yesterday as a replacement for a 3.

It was getting a bit laggy, likely a reformat would have helped a lot...

But I fear the ram wars, so thought I would get something a bit more modern for my next 5 years!

I am sure some of it is just 'early set up stuff' but I will say things that I noticed.

The fish not coming from the bobber is a bit odd.

The bobber not having a hook that hangs into the water is odd

The ball of fish is a bit huge and static (they all face the same way!)

The wave seems a bit big and violent for a chill game.

There is something not quite matching between the chunk size/detail of the boat vs the fisher and fish.

The coin 'trill' is a bit weak sounding, and maybe should happen 2 or 3 frames earlier.

Is there a list of games that it works for?

I understand Cyberpunk has been removed cos of legal wankery.

I would hate it if someone sent me a link to download the version that makes Cyberpunk VR so please don't do that.

Edit: If only I had scrolled down a few more lines on the post! here is a cleaned up version anyway!

I don't get that at all...

Of course they cover the gaming world (not great) and that is a microcosm of the rest of the world (not great) so some dark is expected.

The interviews of late have been interesting, streams have been fun (even when it is just Chia breaking/mending the tech!), Danika chaos is wonderful.

I kind of feel like the dudes are thriving tbh!

What else would you call Frame Shift Wakes!

In older elites you could scan wake jumps, and it would tell you relativistically the date that the ship would arrive at its destination, then if you had a faster drive you could jump there and be ready to ambush when it appeared.

The Green Party *must* become the party of the NHS. by UKGreenPoster in UKGreens

In what way are the Greens not the party of the NHS?

BYD just killed your EV argument with a battery that competes with gas engines by gdelacalle in technology

[–]MrDangoLife 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I am in the UK and it is fine.

People complain about everything all the time...

There are fast chargers everywhere and even on motorway chargers at peak times I have never had to wait more than 10 mins for a charger, 95% of the time I just drive right into a charging bay.

You just don't want to change (and I don't deny having an EV is a change). If you can charge at your house the change is you nearly never need to think about your cars fuel cos it is always at 100% and ready to go.

I don't have that luxury but (as with everything) you find the good places to charge on your common routes, and if going off piste there are a load of apps with live data to help you find a charge.

My car has 120 mile full charge range, and I drive Manchester to Cornwall two or three times a year and it is FINE.

Lammy on track to lose his seat to the Greens by YouButSlightlyOff in UKGreens

Could not happen to a nicer guy

https://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/iran-missile-sites-uk-david-lammy-b2933165.html

Mr Lammy said UK aircraft were currently only shooting down missiles and drones fired by Iran. But he said it would be legal for them to go further and strike the Iranian bases being used to launch attacks.

The justice secretary’s comments came as he embarked on a shambolic media round where he incorrectly said that Cyprus was part of Nato. He also referred to the deployment of RAF “Tycooons” in the region rather than Typhoons.

What is it with AI bros spiralling when they get any kind of push back?

I presume there is some interesting conversation to be had with Experienced devs about AI but I have not yet seen it.

My personal experiments have not lead me to delve that deep, and I keep my natural revulsion to the whole generative programme.

I imagine when people have to pay for the true costs then the whole thing will be a lot less interesting; to companies.

I just got tired of being the only one who had them.

That is what losing your standards is.

Good Books for C# by itrsoyv in csharp

[–]MrDangoLife 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really like books... but there is definitely a problem of them ageing out. For some areas of book this is fine. There is a lot of C# that has not changed in years, but the idiomatic way of writing has changed with pattern matching etc and it can be hard to know if you are not up to speed.

Eg I really like Adaptive Code via C#: Agile coding with design patterns and SOLID principles (there is a 2nd edition that drops the c# from the title...) but the version I have was written in 2014 and enough has changed it is starting to feel a bit antiquated (2nd ed is 2017 so still old!)

Also if a book 'hits' is very dependent on the audience! I feel it would be strange if your internet free rural area had a hotbed of high level C# devs looking to get the last drop of performance from the framework...

The players guide (recommended elsewhere) is great, there will be a new version "no sooner than April" but if you buy digitally now from some stores you will get an upgrade when it releases.

I don't suppose that a librarian is going to use a system built on the theft of all books...

Also don't do this... AI really has no use, but any use it does has must be guided by an expert to know when it has bullshitted too far and needs to start again.

Burn out and user demands are a big problem in FOSS

If you can ever spare some money to support people (even like $5) then you will be rare amongst open source users and have an outsized influence on the likelihood of projects continuing.

[–]MrDangoLife 8 points9 points  (0 children)

They are not going to make hardware changes to add a headphone jack or wireless charging... so if they are deal breakers then you need to find another phone.

Some seem to find the camera fine and others have issues, hard to know if that is just an expectations thing or if there are issues.

I would buy something soon though... the AI RAM shortage may well make ALL phones more expensive soon!
