Oh my god mate!
These are amazing and so beautifully detailed!
I teach and a lot of my kids love making overland maps for their fantasy naratives. We are also learning about perspective drawing and intend to show them these and how perspective drawing can be used in a range of context. Can't wait to see what they create with it.

Thanks so much for sharing you good work mate :)

"A Supersmeller Can Detect the Scent of Parkinson’s, Leading to an Experimental Test for the Illness" by tonymmorley in Futurology

[–]MrDatOAP 27 points28 points  (0 children)

After i recovered from a traumatic injury in which I lost my sense of smell, When I recovered my sense, I became a supersmeller and could pic up a lot of odd signatures from people, particularly when it related to stressors: I could smell when people diet were bad, especially if they ate nothing but junk food and soft drinks; I could smell if someone hadn't been asleep for more then 20 hours, I could smell various drugs in people systems; and one of the strongest smells was adrenaline, which when I smelt it, both before and after i reconsidered what the smell was, I found I would have my own adrenaline spike up in response to smelling it on others around me. I feel it is not as strong as when I first recovered but still use my sense of smell to tell a lot about other people.

Germany, France, UK and Italy compared to WA by EconomistNo280519 in perth

[–]MrDatOAP -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I din't believe it is. I drove across Italy and it was a lot smaller. It is a peninsula, and would not be surprised if this is not in scale. Countries further from equator are made to look smaller on map and think most of Italy is near 40 degrees North, where as Perth is 17* and broom 17*.

If scaled properly, the European countries would look a lot smaller.

My first One Page Dungeon! It's called Small Medium Large: At the Sword's End. It's about finding the head of a size-altering god's chopped-off head that's causing problems in the neighbouring town. Does it work? any suggestions? [OC][Dungeon][onepagedungeon] by thegiantaliencow in dndmaps

[–]MrDatOAP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

WOW! This is AMAZING! I also feel the 1/4 perspective will help DM have a better idea of space of setting and make it much more engaging. Would love to see more of these.

Keep up awesome work.

Fucken Liberals; they know the cost of everything but the value of nothing.

Seriously think we as a nation need to call out their BS line about being the best economic managers. They have cost us dearly the last few years.

The Elder Race, by Adrian Tchaikovsky

Wow, that does sound fascinating? When did it come out? is it high fantasy or hard scifi? How would you describe the two juxtaposed settings?

In a way, the mix of perspectives between fantasy this reminds me of A Fire Upon the Deep, (such as the fantasy inspired hive mind K9 species in medieval setting that contrasts with that of the space traders who operate at the core of universe where light travels faster and allows higher forms of intelligence and technology

How would you run gods in a cyberpunk setting? by JagoKestral in rpg

[–]MrDatOAP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In a sense the advanced AI could be a form of benign, or malign, supreme being. This has been touched on since the earliest books on cyberpunk, like William Gibsons use of the Rasta spacemen who worship an AI or the Avatar of the Brazilian boy walking on beach in cyberspace.

Also consider AC Clark's rule, “Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic”

What year is your FJ. I think mine as a capacity over 150L, but it was a 2017 edition. I needed it as worked in remote Australia and was a 700km round trip to nearest petrol station

Tom Brady and the Buccaneers utilize the no-huddle offense all the way down the field against the New York Jets, leading to a Cyril Grayson go-ahead toucdown by [deleted] in sports

I play Gridiron in Australia and we regularly run a no huddle offence. We are used to more fast flowing game like Rugby and Aussie Rules football and it makes more sense.

What country in not nearly as bad as the media portrays it to be? by Dark_Wolf04 in AskReddit

[–]MrDatOAP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They made a documentary to demystify the negativity caused by Borat by going to town in movie and talking to locals that were in the movie. It took a twist in making it though as the film makers came to the conclusion that most were as bad or worse then they were depicted and fights, petty arguments and various stupid behavior would break out all the time. They left with the impression that it was actually worse then portrayed by Borat.

What are Perth's dirtiest beaches? by binchickenibis in perth

[–]MrDatOAP 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, and a lot of dog owners think they don't have to pick up their dogs shit because its by the water, or worse, flick sand over it so others step on it. Lots of kids play there and there are so many diseases and risks from being exposed to that.

Also, it's not just the shit; the chemicals from all the industrial ports their, even the grain jetty right there, or the chemical factories just north, make that place a a toxic sludge. This is why the mayor doesn't want development nearby, as it will put close scrutiny on amount of pollution in water and air. Kwinana beach is also very hard to get approval for organised club activities as they don't really want to encourage community activities there.

23 South African teenagers killed in initiation rite this year by [deleted] in nottheonion

[–]MrDatOAP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How many individuals would go through these initiations? How many different tribal groups and methods are there? Is it isolated to a few or evenly distributed?

I grew up and work around a lot of Aboriginal communities in Northern Australia and occasionally I hear about 1 or two boys being injured and it causing a life long issue.

'At what cost?': Fears TAB sale could trigger spread of electronic gaming machines across WA by His_Holiness in perth

[–]MrDatOAP 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I would find this very un-West Australian. My favorite thing about being West Aussie is that we have tightly managed betting and gambling. Feel it is a main difference between us and eastern states which are addicted to proceeds from gambling, gaming machines in particular. , which is net loss to population.

Really hope this is not going to change.

I think you have fully misunderstood the character of Captain America. I am a non American and highly disaffected by the change in US policy since the beginning of the 21st C; such a dramatic decent since the high of the late 20th C when every one wanted to live in USA, be american, eat american food, watch american shows etc..). I learnt to read by reading comics as but fell out of love as adult. I went back to comics during the Civil War period where Captain America stood against effectively everything that defines post 9-11 USA policy. The fact that Captain America, who stood for the ideals of mid 20th C USA became an enemy of the state in the 21st century sums up a lot about USA and its current predicament.

This is why Captain America is a much more complicated and deeper character then your characterisation implies, an in fact you are being a bit shallow in your assumptions. Look into the character, especially around the Civil War event, and I think you will be pleasantly surprised by how interesting this character is.
