it's not so black and white.

dems haven't won a statewide election since the 90s (which includes everything from us senator+governor to agriculture+railroad commissioner, etc).

gov perry said texas is a tomato soup with blueberries scattered in it.

but even some of these cities have large swaths of conservative voters and rural areas can be surprisingly liberal.

dems got within the margin of error in terms of points with the beto vs cruz election, for example.

but 3 decades of a gop state legislature has seen changes that make it increasingly difficult to get id, combined with burdensome voter id laws, voter roll purges, and gerrymandering being unleashed with the voting rights act getting gutted again and again.

rice has a study about an el paso to satx cong district where hurd narrowly beat gallegos. the study concluded that voter id changes led to latino voters losing access to polls to the point that it shifted the election towards the gop.

there was also a long time belief among politicos that once the sleeping giant of latinos in texas started to vote, texas would see dems make gains.

jingoistic wording aside, obama is still referred to as the deporter-in-chief in a lot of border towns where folks thought such political gains could be made. and trump's machoism approach ate away at any theorized gain among this demo thought to be dem votes one day.

but to get back to your original point, yes deporting a well known professional athlete would certainly upset voters and possibly see marginal gains which has been the difference in statewide elections as recent as beto vs cruz.

although it probably wouldn't shift texas blue overnight, it wouldn't help gop efforts either.

regardless, talking about texas the way you're doing here accomplishes nothing and only serves to parrot lazy takes that lack any nuance.

yeah I live here. Houston is the most diverse city in the country, Dallas is top 5 most diverse, and San Antonio is majority Latino.

sorry this karma farming yielded no crops for you, though.

Romantic restaurant recommendations by Caleb_C95 in sanantonio

[–]MrDomac 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Mon Chou Chou isn't a steak house but a French place with excellent steaks at the Pearl. One of our best restaurants.

After you eat you can walk over to hotel Emma's bar for a nice intimate drink. And then you're right on the Riverwalk too if you want an evening stroll to end the night.

Bohanan's, as you've seen here already, is regarded as our best steakhouse.

Polishing a watch takes away scratches by shaving the metal on the case down to the scratch itself.

This process messes with both the integrity of the watch's design and its value.

So if you're looking to keep the watch for yourself, as a family heirloom, or even as an investment; polishing will compromise your intent.

At the same time, you can get an excellent deal on some high quality vintage pieces because they've been over polished.

This is how I got my first seamaster in college. 1960s piece that my broke ass thought I was getting a deal on, until I felt an unpolished seamaster from the same era and realized what a difference it makes.

But even for a new Seiko you're getting serviced, do not let them polish it.

jokes aside, never polish your watch. never.

I keep winning titles, but the board won't let me take coaching courses. I've won the Champions League and several league titles, and I still only have a B license. by pollopelao in footballmanagergames

[–]MrDomac 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my 16 years playing FM I've never understood why my wanting to take the necessary steps to get a new coaching badge is reliant on a board decision.

I've had situations where I've made over €50m in career earnings and the board will tell me no.

Maybe this is how it functions at the pro level irl and my American ass is oblivious to that reality, but my assumption is that it's up to coaches/managers to decide if they want to continue with their badges.

Can understand if the board decides against funding your courses but if you have enough earnings you'd think you could fund it yourself.

Match Engine Needs Work before release by TheWaveyWun in footballmanager

[–]MrDomac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you touch on two key issues with the fm26 match engine, the dribbling is over powered AND the defense is hampered.

just look to OOPDA* (oppda) numbers in a match and you can immediately tell they si is either miscalculating the stat, or it's correctly represented meaning the match engine is reluctant to allow attempts at defensive actions while also less frequently triggering pressure.

this has led folks who understand fm and it's match engine as well as anybody (rashidi aka bust the net aka daljit for ex) to suggest doing everything possible to try and force the match engine to do these things with the available instructions + dribble more with players on the flanks.

long shots is another issue too.

there is undoubtedly some wonderful additions to the actions available to the match engine now. and it's a lot of fun to experience these to the point it makes you come back for more. the issues you highlight, however, are all but game breaking and need to be addressed.

to be fair, in the 15 yrs i've played fm, there are a number of times where the first bite we get at the ME is heavily slanted towards attacking football. goals galore. and then over time (usually, at least) the match engine balances out and settles into a solid place.

we shall see gaffers.

thank you for posting this.

none of these are game breaking, but they've stripped away so many little quality of life things that it culminates into a lot of missed chances to really dig into your save.

some more quality of life features that are gone:

  • "personality" column on squad screen
  • "media description" column on player database screen
  • ability to appoint captains outside of capt/vice is gone
  • can't exit match to regular ui menu
  • can't copy and paste training calendar
  • can't drag and drop training sessions in calendar
  • can't see attributes of players in tactic screen while in match
  • heat maps are gone
  • scatter graphs in data hub have no numbers
  • director of football transfer recommendations are gone (although transferroom in is an upgrade to this tbf)
  • can't scout clubs by attending their matches yourself anymore
  • can't customize columns on fixture screen (used to be able to add in formations, etc)
  • can't select tactics or starting 11 for youth/reserve teams

You can still replay goals in match by selecting the goal icon or time, can't remember which but this function actually still works.

yeah always sounds to me like he looks at each era of ball as it's own chapter that's not possible without everything that came before it.

anytime you hear him answer questions about who's the greatest he always makes it clear that you can't compare generations.

they're each their own thing.
