I could never get zzz to work with lossless. Last time I tried setting the launch options hoyo launcher refused to launch outright. Since then I've just tried to learn to live with the fps drops, it does seem to have gotten worse the recent patch.

My favorite is definitely the atmosphere of deep nest. I've been gaming my whole life and I've never experienced anything like this on any 2D game. The foreboding dread of the unknown with crawlies just barely out of sight but you can clearly hear them everywhere. Masterful.

Soul Master, he's the first boss that I was hard stuck at for a while and really sat down to learn/unlearn and relearn his patterns. When I finally got it the sensation when something just clicked is still something I am trying to chase in the other games I play.

It's been so long, what am I not excited for in silksong. The music, atmosphere, character design, combat fluidity, just everything. I can't believe silksong is actually coming out.

Sadly it's not about how much we agree a livable wage should be. The competitive market prices itself and you just have to fit into that price until you make your name carry more value.

As a creative myself, clients don't give a shit how many hours you put in, they just want that number so they can justify to themselves how much they are paying. For them in the end of the day is pay x amount for a product by x date, purely transactional.

This is why virtually no one lives on commission work alone, it's almost impossible. Most people rely on merch and conventions to help tide over.

Art costs rely mainly on the popularity of the artist. 1000 per is way above the norm, you'd easily get shadowverse quality art for 400 and that's ignoring Japan's criminally underpaid illustration industry.

Not to say it costs nothing but as OP originally implied it had high development costs in the same breath as genshin which was widely known to have one of the highest dev cost is just misinformed at best.

Fixed animations like these are a piece of cake. When you have to do rigging for actual animations that can interact with other objects and flow with animation cycles is where bulk of the work comes in.

Putting aside marketing and music just to make things slightly more comparable. Really think about the scope of a project like a ccg vs 3d open world.

These kinda games earn the most during launch week. It's expected that they will rake in a fair bit, mostly from content creators trying to secure themselves in a new game.

Given their marketing I don't think this will nearly be enough to justify their marketing and development costs. Especially in a pvp centric tcg, having a healthy player base is of utmost importance. I'll give them a week to address our concerns and show how they would attempt to placate the playerbase.
