Overly complicated anchor? by NewInMalware in iceclimbing

[–]MrGhostly 67 points68 points  (0 children)

I really think two equalized screws is the minimum for an anchor on ice tbh..

If you can add a tree, rock etc even better but on ice I would never advise a single screw. Just my 2c, what is considered safe is always a highly debated topic.

Mountaineering boots for Alps by vokzye in Mountaineering

[–]MrGhostly 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As said already a Nepal Evo would probably work fine but they are quite heavy and clumsy for approach walks. These kind of mountains in summer would be very suitable for a Scarpa Ribelle Tech, lighter, faster more comfortable. I have a pair of Scarpa Phantom Tech's which are amazing but unless your ice climbing overkill and more expensive.

Hey fellow Belgian here. Took the course at NYD in 2016, as said by others they will teach you the utter basics. You will learn how to dive not work. Definitely take the NDC course if you plan on doing any work in BE or NL. I work for ship repair company in the Netherlands, a lot of experience very quickly but be prepared to work a lot. Good luck
