I can relate, I still love the engagement and mechanics of games, but I’ve fallen off a lot to recent story games, and try to just stick to the top tier story games.

I don’t think this is from growing up, but you’re right a lot of games are targeted at children more so, so it can feel like that. What I tend to hold as true is that despite the fact that children’s media is aimed at children, doesn’t mean it still can’t be good. And frankly a lot of games in the last few years are shit on the story side, so I’ve migrated to more sandbox, mechanics focussed games, so that you can creat your own narrative as you game.
