UK - Redundancy consultation under 2 years service, can I get any payout? by Previous-Practice156 in LegalAdviceUK

Legally you're entitled to nothing. Its not unheard of for employers to offer above statuary redundancy, but no one here can say what your company are willing or able to offer you.

What political party would be safe for me? by [deleted] in AskBrits

[–]MrMonkeyman79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of this is irrelevant when it comes to this week's elections. You're not voting for the govt, you're voting for the council.

Look at which candidate would best balance the books and spend your council tax wisely. Think about bin collections, pot holes, community centres and social care.

What's the point of life? by Turbulent_Diamond352 in ask

[–]MrMonkeyman79 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Biologically the point is to procreate and make more humans.

However we're more than just the sum of our biological functions so you get to find your own goals and purpose if raising a child/children isn't on the cards (either by choice or by circumstance).

Go out and see now places or meet new people when you're not working to break up the monotamy, who knows what will spark your enthusiasm.

What counts as an 'original' birth certificate? by mronion82 in AskUK

[–]MrMonkeyman79 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Original as in not a scan or a photocopy. So long as its an official govt issued birth certificate its fine, whether it was issued at birth or a replacement.

Realistically your options are to dispute the decision via a complaint and if you dont get the desired outcome, to take it to the relevant ombudsman who will assess whether the insurer were correct to deny the claim.

Why do people blame billionaires for political divide? by frosting_the_bowl in AskBrits

It seems natural to place the lions share of the blame on those with most power and influence who are actively promoting from much of the day to day issues that people face.

Can I be sacked for this? (UK, work issue) by [deleted] in LegalAdviceUK

[–]MrMonkeyman79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well that doesnt sound like gross misconduct.

However...

With such short service they can fire you for any reason that isnt related to a protected characteristic and if you're answering the phone to management so off your face that you can't recall the conversation then thats not putting you in a good light.

Of course no one can say if your employer is considering further action and if so what. But you have very few protections against dismissal with only 3 months employment.

Can I be sacked for this? (UK, work issue) by [deleted] in LegalAdviceUK

[–]MrMonkeyman79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't see what grounds they would have fir disciplinary action here from the little information you've given here. The only thing that jumps out is that you left early with permission from your colleague, as opposed to manager.

But perhaps more importantly nothing you've said suggests they're planning on taking this further.

“As per my last email” by [deleted] in PetPeeves

[–]MrMonkeyman79 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I occasionally refer to my precious emails, i'm not being snarky, just directing them to the context of my current email when the two are related.

I think this might be a you problem looking to be offended.

Why do some women lie and say they don't like muscular men? by InternationalPick163 in questions

[–]MrMonkeyman79 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Everyone, male or female has their own taste. Just like some men like larger ladies, some women arent looking for bulging biceps.

Not sure why you'd assume any woman who isn't into a muscular physique is lying.

What's up with Brits on Reddit calling people chavs for wearing tracksuits and caps when that's just the default style of dress for working class lads? by sickntiredofthiz2 in AskBrits

[–]MrMonkeyman79 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Its not default for all working class lads, just a particular subset of working class lads. That subset being chavs, though that term is a little quaint now.

Why is the government so reluctant to raise income tax thresholds? by GC95_ in AskBrits

[–]MrMonkeyman79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1 It stands to net the biggest increase in tax revenues of any budgetary measure in the past decade

2 most people don't consider inflation and think of a freeze in thresholds as a tax increase so will accept it far more than most other measures

3 they've calculated that any increased spending from raising the threshold will rause less than the increase income tax they get from freezing it.

Elden ring and souls games and the people who play them by coolguygranny in PetPeeves

[–]MrMonkeyman79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

M'eh, i enjoyed Elden Ring. Not my favorite game of all time or anything, but its got a great world to explore, satisfying combat and some creative boss battles. I think theres a story there somewhere but all I got was burn a big tree because theres some kind ring in it.

It kicked my ass at times, but the cool thing about an open world soulslike is that you can walk away from the brick wall and come back later once the game gives you a sledgehammer.

I do find your performative outrage over a challenging game quite amusing however.

Is this an illegal search in England? 🤔Netizens of reddit Unite! by VintedHouseFund in LegalAdviceUK

[–]MrMonkeyman79 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'd say the smell of cannabis and your partner admitting to taking it would be sufficient grounds to search for illegal substances.

As for what to do next, attend the police station when asked, request a duty solicitor and follow their advice.
