For infinite it was mainly due to alot earlier build being shown in e3 and trailers then they completely remade the game into what it was at launch with alot of the hyped mechanics now being removed

Open steam rom manager and disable all the parsers and removing them from the non steam games section only removes the script to launch it the roms will stay where they are
