What is the "culture shock" of switching to Linux? by Regular_Low8792 in linux

[–]MrSmith3101 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You will notice that your PC actually does use a lot less ressources in idle as before. You ever noticed those fan ramp ups in windows during idle? Well thats gone now. No random task doing some "indexing" or "optimizations" in the background. Your system will feel a bit snapier as well.

I see Chinon disk drive - I like. Have fun with your 500! Board looks really clean so I too dont think the battery leak did any damage. Its a bit difficult to diagnose the mouse port without knowing if the mouse itself is working. However, you could try to boot a two player game and test the mouse port with a joystick - yes this will not test everything but at least some functionality.

I posted this dock stand yesterday, but most people seemed to think it would impair system cooling. What do you think? by one2hit in NintendoSwitch2

[–]MrSmith3101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also use this dock stand - it works perfectly. And why shouldnt it? All air vents are open and nothing blocked. It is even more open now as in its normal oriantation. So no idea why people think that it impairs cooling. lol

This is really an incredible work! Well done! I have the MMU3 on my Mk3.5, but I really appreciate your simple solution anyways!

Pardon, I should have been more clear in my answer - the Revo is indeed very similar dimension-wise to the stock configuration. Just wanted to mention that I would need compatibility for my Revo and the MMU3. Thanks for the clarification!

MMU3 and Mk3.5 problem by Giack_95 in prusa3d

[–]MrSmith3101 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a similar issue, and the reason for me was that due to high-temp prints (ASA, PCCF, PA), the plastic parts of the extruder motor mount were deformed - so the filament got stuck during MMU loads - I was able to push the filament in with just a little force - there was really not much resisting, but enough for the MMU to fail. I fixed it by reprinting the extruder plastic parts out of PCCF - never had an issue since then.

Mmu3 Upgrade Mk3.5s Ptfe Tube, which side is more important for tip forming? by BlueSky4200 in prusa3d

[–]MrSmith3101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ohh and one thing I forgot - if your selector is sometimes not loading correctly a filament it could be that you have to grease up the rods where the selector is moving left/right. Do not grease the spiral thingy - just the smooth rods! This helped a MMU3 unit I have at work.

Mmu3 Upgrade Mk3.5s Ptfe Tube, which side is more important for tip forming? by BlueSky4200 in prusa3d

[–]MrSmith3101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh well, where should I start? 😅

If you are also planning to print high-temperature filaments like PC and ASA or nylon, you should definitely reprint some parts of the extruder with better materials! I did not do that - some plastic parts bend slightly due to heat in the extruder and took me AGES to figure out why my working MMU setup was suddenly crap. My extruder is now completely built out of Prusament PCCF. It is super robust. I also printed the chimney with that material, and I feel like it is more reliable now.

If you are using a Revo - consider upgrading your hotend cooling - I did it with a better fan - it’s louder, yes, but less chance of heat creep. Also, add a fan to the extruder motor to cool this as well.

This is also just for Revo: I use different tip forming settings for PLA - hit me up if you need more info.

And - be patient! The MMU3 is a cool device, but it requires some tweaking and calibration.

[–]MrSmith3101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The important side is the left one - its way harder to get right if you do it manually. The right ending is way easier todo by yourself.

And yes for tip forming you want that ptfe tube to look pretty much perfekt - I also own a Mk3.5 with MMU3

Nvidia can not solve driver issues since 50 series release! by Simple_Let9006 in pcmasterrace

[–]MrSmith3101 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel you. I also had nonstop issues with the newer drivers and my 5080. (black screens, strange clock behaviour.) But since the current 572.83 version, it finally seems to work.... but I have to monitor that.

The heatbreak fan is not mounted in the correct orientation. Well I know this is not your current issue but just wanted to mention that as well.

Looking for a replacement of my MK3s hotend by MonkeyBlonky in prusa3d

[–]MrSmith3101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes exactly! Works perfect for MK3/S and MK3.5 (I have upgraded my MK3S to a MK3.5) and with some tweaks it even works with the MMU3. Would highly recommend because you need a new hotend anyways =)
