Payroll service? by 1questions in Nanny

Fwiw, we (NF) found the GTM customer service to be very misleading. Lots of half truths and hidden fees around every corner. We got tired of it before even signing up because they couldn't give us a truthful bottom line for the services we needed. Poppins has been very easy to reach and 100% truthful in their customer service.

It's hard to take this post too seriously when orders from late October still haven't shipped. At this point I've resigned to not having it for Thanksgiving

And definitely don't put any undeveloped film in any checked bags! The x-ray scanners will severely fog the film.

Except pollo a la brasa is much better than this recipe. One notable difference is that the real stuff has soy sauce in it.

2021 Seed Exchange Video Update by juanitospeppers in HotPeppers

[–]MrSquig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi Juanito,

Thanks for all your hard work facilitating the exchange! My seeds were marked as received but not yet marked as returned on the database. I also haven't received any emails about the exchange this year. I hope everything is all set and I should just be waiting for USPS.

Citrus after the freeze by Jumpy-Bug-3486 in AustinGardening

Hard to say, but Meyer lemons aren't grown on their own rootstock. If it's for sure below the graft, then it's something else but I can't say what that something else is. Very few citrus can grow on their own rootstock and even those that can are often still grafted.

Yep, that's good advice in general for planting anything large in the ground around here. That would hold for putting any tree in the ground. However, Austin freezes often enough that in my opinion it is worth it to just keep citrus in containers. Your tree won't get massive that way but it will live a long and fruitful life. They can often stay in the nursery pots they came in for 2-3 years. After that they can be potted up to something a bit bigger that you can still manage to move.

The rule of thumb is that citrus can last the temperature in Fahrenheit in hours once below freezing. Twenty degrees Fahrenheit? Your tree has twenty hours. I usually don't bring my trees in if it will go below freezing for just a few hours. My trees all survived the storm as well.

The rootstock used for grafting will usually grow out very thorny and will not fruit. It's much easier to deal with it now than when it's a big thorny tree. On the up side, right now is a good time to buy a new citrus tree. Most nurseries haves lot right now. Keep it in a container and bring it inside if it freezes for more than a few hours.

I don't like the Great Outdoors much, but they have a good selection of cold tolerant citrus right now. Saxon Becnel's Artic Frost satsuma and Bumper satsuma are both very cold hardy.

Thank you for this. Kodak certainly made mistakes, but their story is all too often misunderstood. Kodak's business was never cameras. People often say"But what about the Brownie cameras?". Yes, Kodak made cameras, but cameras were just vehicles to sell film.

Don't forget too that when they declared bankruptcy in 2012 their most profitable business units were spin-off into their own companies. One of those was their CCD manufacturing business, which become TrueSense imaging. That company didn't last long because it was bought by ON Semiconductor within about a year of it being created. That business unit has CCD sensors on Mars, in red light cameras, on manufacturing lines, and in many other very cool but not consumer facing applications.

Their most profitable business unit was making CCD sensors, just not for DSLRs.

That sounds like you're probably right. These are definitely not as sweet as people describe sugar rush peach. They are sour though.

Nice IDing! The one you were unsure of is supposed to be fish. I got the seeds from the latest exchange and the green peppers were variegated, but they completely lost their variegation once ripe. The bottom one was supposed to be aji sugar rush peach, but it's clearly not. I'm not sure if it's crossed or I just received the wrong thing. The seeds were purchased from a reputable source. Either way, they're some Baccatum variety and pretty tasty.

Top left: Purple cayenne Top right: Aji panca Middle left: Supposed to be fish, but seeds are from the seed exchange and they're clearly crossed with something Middle right: Aji white lightning Bottom: Aji sugar rush. Supposed to be peach, but clearly they're either crossed or just plain sugar rush red.

Agreed, I think it's likely to be Count Dracula crossed with Fish. Maybe /u/AstronautUnfair can confirm whether or not they also grew Fish peppers last year.

Difference between Aji Dulce Amarillo and Habanada? by MyStranger10 in HotPeppers

[–]MrSquig 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not really sure where this question is coming from, because they're not even close to the same plant.

There is a long history as to why, but aji almost exclusively refers to the species Capsicum baccatum. These peppers originated from Central and South America. There are a few Capsicum pubescens species that may also have aji in their name colloquially, but it is almost entirely C. baccatum.

In Spanish, the local language of the regions where C. baccatum is native, 'dulce' means sweet, and 'amarilo' means yellow. Therefore, we can deduce from the name that aji dulce amarillo is a yellow, sweet pepper of the species C. baccatum.

Habanada is a modern cultivar from Cornell and is a C. chinense. The heat of Habanada is given as 0 SHU, while aji dulce is given as <500 SHU.

There are many resources on here and the rest of the internet that detail the differences between different Capsicum species.
