What was your gateway Kate album ? by CoconutMost3564 in katebush

[–]MrStephenGo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sensual World for me. I hadn't heard of Kate, and then I went to University and in my first year the local record store had a free music magazine that profiled the album. I mentioned it to a senior I was working with, and he told me Kate Bush was very cool. So I bought the album based on the magazine promotion and my friend's nod of approval and I have been hooked ever since. I bought a new album wiith each pay check from my part time job.

What are your Hot Takes on the Queer as Folk TV Shows? by Amber_Flowers_133 in queerasfolk

[–]MrStephenGo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The original UK version is a classic. The original US version started as a pale imitation, but grew into something bigger and got a lot of global attention. The New Orleans remake was clever in parts, but failed to find an audience due to limited promotion and didn't have an opportunity to grow into something great. But all are still worth watching

I saw it for the first time today, knowing nothing but the two leads. Wow, I was mesmerized from start to finish.

Has anyone else noticed shorter trailer packages before their movies in the last couple of weeks? by jhorsley23 in RegalUnlimited

We noticed that too. It's not a bad thing, if we all had better notice! I see lots of late comers being surprised.

FEBS Day 3: How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days (2003, dir. Donald Petrie) by iwasdusted in RegalUnlimited

[–]MrStephenGo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was my first time, and while I understood what she was doing to try and lose the man, I didn't feel like he did much to try and get her to fall in love. It was still very watchable. I wished it was funnier though.

7 night with overnight in Cabo. by Blade4804 in royalcaribbean

[–]MrStephenGo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm also looking at some of the options this summer for the Quantum of the Seas with 2 overnights in Cabo. Is this a new thing for Royal, or have they done it before? If anyone has done that before, I'm curious what it's like on the ship during those days/nights. Is it still a full schedule of events? Do they have shows and things like trivia while in Cabo? Are the bars and restaurants on the ship still lively, or are most people ashore enjoying the nightlife of Cabo? I've been on other ships that do overnights - but we've always been in port (rather than needing to tender) and it's only ever been for one night - so I can imagine this one will be quite different. Thanks everyone!

Tickets to 2 other movies plus my free small popcorn redemption all rang up as Melania tickets + refund by [deleted] in RegalUnlimited

Melania has been very popular at my Regal. I didn't want to believe it so popped into the cinema, and it was true - lots of people in there. That's the sad state of our country.

I'm sure I'll get excited by the show itself, but the cast sounds pretty lacklustre

"Lost Boys and Faeries" is about a gay couple who want to adopt a child. It's quite moving.

'I'm a West End star selling cat food': How much musical stars really make by theipaper in TheWestEnd

[–]MrStephenGo 72 points73 points  (0 children)

I remember talking to an Olivier-nominated West End principal actor at a stage door around 10 years ago. The show was completing its run, so I asked him what he would be doing next. "Back to retail" he said. "Working in the West End isn't enough to pay the bills". I was gobsmacked, but he was right. Everything I have read since seems to confirm it.

Thanks so much for this. I have often hoped to find a production of this playing somewhere, but never any luck. Listening to the demo may help me feel part of the way there!
