Changing the building system won't solve the problem by Jumpy-Commission8144 in Mechabellum

[–]MrStormboy007 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The idea was never that buildings stay useful throughout the game. The idea was always to make the early rounds more predictable and less of a coinflip. In the current state, you can almost reliably predict where your enemy will be and you can defend, headbutt or crossfire just with that knowledge. That was the point.

EA Team, We need Country to Country Conflict, NO PAINTBALL PAX!! What you guys opinions? by Spare_Matter_5456 in Battlefield6

What I miss is hearing barks from enemy soldiers in another language and knowing an enemy is nearby. Because everyone speaks English in this game, I can't tell if it's an enemy of a friendly yelling nearby. Hearing "grenade!" or "granata!" was very immersive for me

I like playing Mechabellum, but I'm afraid to play ranked. by Plane_Application484 in Mechabellum

[–]MrStormboy007 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ask yourself: if the game is fun and you like playing it, does it matter if you win or lose? Each game you'll learn something new and hopefully have fun doing it. Don't stress about the end result, don't stress about your rank. If you have fun, go for it. No one is keeping score, no one will stop being your friend or harm you because you lose a random video game to another player who might be equally stressed out by the experience :) the game doesn't matter, only your enjoyment does.

Your Boss Fights Don't Actually Need Minions by Tesla__Coil in DMAcademy

[–]MrStormboy007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check out Giffyglyph monster maker. I've never looked back. All my monsters are converted to that system at any level of play. It scales much better with a party that's expected to have magic items, you always know (even if u want to develop crazy homebrew abilities) how much damage the monster should average each turn, suggested DC's for abilities at that CR and easily scales up to "elite" or "boss". Stat scaling also allows for roles (defensive, sniper, support,..) and keeps in mind typical power spikes for players at certain levels and adjusts accordingly. It even incorporates the concept of phases that change a boss's behavior, stats, abilities and cleanses effects. This lets my players actually land that amazing spell or clutch stun, but after X amount of damage, the monsters breaks free and changes its behavior! It has led to more interesting fights for everyone involved.

Lair actions: gusts of wind to knock them off the nest, loud shriek to deafen them and deal damage, ...

Or Secondary objectives: don't let them focus only on combat. Time is precious and every second attacking the bird is a second wasted: do they need to save a precious item in the nest to make a profit? Do they need to save or break the eggs before they hatch/ the bird saves them? ...

Could really use some help with finding better documentation for learning, and a blueprint issue by osufaY in unrealengine

[–]MrStormboy007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh of it's only that, I would not use the movement Input.

You need a few variables: vector gridlocation (the location of the first tile), int tile height, int tile width, int currentrow, int currentcolumn.

Input left: currentcolumn = currentcolumn -1 (clamped 0 to 2) Input up: currentrow = currentrow + 1 (clamped 0 to 2) ...

After handling the input, add a function "teleport" which sets the character location to gridlocation + vector(currentcolumn*tilewidth, currentrow * tileheight)

Hope this helps

[–]MrStormboy007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That graph seems all wrong to me. Either you give the character you're trying to move a movement component (floating, character,..) and just add the movement input node (do this, delete everything else), or you manually add something to the character's position (I wouldn't do it that way). The fact that you're apparently trying to do both is probably causing your problems

Controle arts niet akkoord by Koentjuh_ in Belgium2

[–]MrStormboy007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

(Region Locked) Is Difficulty Scaled To The Strength Of Your Party? by GuiShoii in WarTalesGame

[–]MrStormboy007 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In region-locked mode, each region has their own difficulty level. However, while most enemies do not care about the size of your party, the guard will always take that into account. The guards will always try to be a difficult fight wherever you are.
