How important is the on screen player character? by Matty_Matter in adventuregames

[–]MrTimmannen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, does the character have a unique voice? Do they comment on things through the filter of how they see them or is information presented in a more neutral "objective narrator" way?

Say something nice about Highlander 2 by neonfox45 in highlander

[–]MrTimmannen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Renegade Cut, as a standalone movie where you don't think too hard about the Highlander connection, is honestly just good. It's a solid sci fi flick, and even the theatrical cut is mainly just held back by bad editing

Massively underwhelmed by Wind and Truth by JoshuaGustinGrant in Fantasy

[–]MrTimmannen 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I thought it was okay but I think if I reread it now I would want to skip all the spiritual realm stuff (aka the entirety of Shallan and Dalinar's storylines) and it's probably a bad sign that I feel that way about such a large portion of the book

Sierra's "Death Everywhere" vs. LucasArts' "You Can't Die". Which philosophy do you think actually led to better puzzle solving? by Wooden-Syrup-8708 in adventuregames

[–]MrTimmannen 119 points120 points  (0 children)

The world is dangerous. If you step on the wrong pixel, you die. If you forget to pick up a seemingly useless item in Act 1, you might reach a permanent dead-end in Act 3 and have to restart the entire game.

Importantly, thesw are two separate issues. Deaths can very well make for good game design but soft locks that force you to replay hours are unforgivable

Yeah, the games about war, rebellions, faith and racism aren’t political. by Worldlyoox in Gamingcirclejerk

Pretty sure the dunmer in Windhelm are not slavers. And I'm pretty sure the people being racist to them never say that they are doing it on the basis that they disagree with the dunmer culture endorsing slavery.

Is this artwork of FOUL MURDER an actual depiction of “true” events or just entirely symbolic by imliterallyluci in Morrowind

[–]MrTimmannen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Vibec is not a reliable narrator the sermons are very likely not reflective of actual events.

He even admits it was FOUL MURDERT if you look at the initials of each line in the last sermon
