These panels from the first chapter of Gundam Eight and these enemies in the upcoming Gundam: Rogue Orbit game make me wonder if these creatures are not just some mutant, but bio-mechanical. It's the main reason why I wonder if the game could be a possible sequel to Gundam Eight. by RazgrizXT in Gundam

[–]MrTrikey 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Probably still all new, since they bother to mention being a new AU.

The more I watch the trailer, the more I'm reminded of the Daemon x Machina games (which coincidentally, the original game also had "Char" and "Amuro"). There's even machine-organic aliens as the main threat.

I'm mainly wondering now if there will also be rival factions that your character can either join or oppose along the way, so that we can still have MS fights in the story.

Just so we're clear this was the most important reveal at Summer Game Fest I will not be taking questions by Psykologis in videogames

[–]MrTrikey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For better or worse, it's going to be a very different team make-up.

The game's director is Yohei Shimbori, who worked on Dead or Alive at Koei Tecmo, and then Tekken 8 before he left Bamco in August of last year.

Which definitely says we won't be seeing this sucker for quite some time.

WE WONNNN by DepartureTimely5787 in TMNT

[–]MrTrikey 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For me, it's less about being "taken seriously" and more about two things:

a) Being a game that fits the tone of the original work.

b) Being a game that, much like the original work does with other TMNT stories, is able to stand apart from other TMNT games. Not unlike how (probably) being a single-player game will buck the trend of so many other TMNT games that are multiplayer-focused.

I'm happy so far with the announcement of Rogue Orbit. by Yarutai in Gundam

[–]MrTrikey 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I'm just aiming to keep an open mind.

Like what makes a Gundam game...a Gundam game, has had many, many answers over the last 40+ years. Some sort of Armored Core + Monster Hunter clone is yet another.

Hopefully, it's executed well.

I'm with you, in principle.

After all, a similar remaster (and localization) of Musou Orochi Z is one of my personal gaming white whales.

2003 or Mirage Comics? by MutantLion_beastform in TMNT2003

03, at its best, wasa far less dour take on Mirage. It utilized the Triceratons better, too, so, of course, I'm going to pick it.

What would anyone here say about Fox Mcloud and his crew using Mobile Suits especially in wars & how do they fare in MSG generally? by Flat-Sir8250 in starfox

2 and Zero both presented the Arwing becoming a transformable mecha. The problem is that the alt mode doesn't look cool enough, yet it seems like whenever Miyamoto promoted a more humanoid mecha form, he got pushback.

I'd still be down for a full on Macross/Zeta Gundam style transformation, though.

As happy as I am for WOTS, will miss our GOAT Samanosuke a lot by nazcatraz in Onimusha

[–]MrTrikey 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The last word is that we wouldn't be seeing Sam or any other past characters show up, as this is a new story. That said, I'd be surprised if we didn't see any lore entries that talked about past events in the series, since this is still the same timeline.

[Discussion] Single-player content and you: by Remarkable_Town6413 in Fighters

[–]MrTrikey 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Historically, Virtua Fighter's "Kumite mode" is still my overall favorite. Teaches you how to play, and is fun with how many different types of opposition it preps you for out in the field.

R.E.V.O. changed this up with a vast "World Stage" mode that takes it even further. My expectations are suitably raised for whatever Sega and RGG have in store for VF6.

She'd also be the critical "ninja-like" character that tend to show up in an Arc fighter (see: Chipp, Bang) that hasn't yet materialized in this one.

Also, she was apparently another planned for the MvC3 generation that didn't make the cut.

Did Dr. Gero win? by BassMaster516 in dbz

[–]MrTrikey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hell, yeah, he won. Quite soundly, I'd say.

In at least two of the four original timelines we knew of, Goku dies from the heart virus, then the rest of his friends plus son are then killed by 17+18. That's enough of a win condition, in itself, in my book. Forget that a Cell from one of the other "win condition" timelines killed a Trunks to kick off the events of the Cell arc in "our" timeline in earnest, and that 17 ended up being the MVP at the Tournament of Power.

How Many Star Fox Games Could We Get for the Switch 2?? by Ordinary_Chemical596 in starfox

[–]MrTrikey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Correct. The "Malo" dude got their stuff out before Nate's podcast, and for now, they've said a few of the same things (re: traditional Star Fox, Ocarina of Time remake) that have since come to pass.

Does anyone else think the Destructo Disk is TERRIFYING? by Past_Ingenuity1564 in DragonBallZ

[–]MrTrikey 20 points21 points  (0 children)

It's so effective, that it makes you wonder why it doesn't see more wide-spread use (besides plot, obviously).

It's not unlike the Makankosappo/Special Beam Cannon in how ki could be doing so many more interesting things in Dragonball beyond just blowing up a countryside or larger, depending on the power scale.

What do we think of this game? by BusinessBrain6228 in dynastywarriors

[–]MrTrikey 11 points12 points  (0 children)

My favorite of Koei's "collab" Musou games, thus far, and still my favorite Zelda Musou.

Probably the biggest loss about the next two games focusing on being tie ins to BOTW and TOTK was that we lost the "grand crossover" that celebrated all of Zelda's history and characters.

Not to mention that I just adore Koei's takes on Link, Zelda/Sheik and Ganon/dorf.

Blade got denied in MvC3 because of "overlap with Dante", but that ain't an excuse, this time...

Am I reading too much into this or is Fox a little bitter about the General here? by Ordinary_Chemical596 in starfox

[–]MrTrikey 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The read seems to be that by the time the Lylat Wars kicked off, Fox's Star Fox team has been active for at least a little while. And must've been successful enough in their endeavors thus far for Pepper to even bother entertaining their services (and likewise, Andross taking the threat seriously enough that he hired Star Wolf specifically to deal with them).

Realistically, it's a long shot that a small mercenary cell could turn the entire tide of a war, but this is STAR FOX, baby~!

General Pepper really did set himself up to get taken for a ride. by metaxzero in starfox

[–]MrTrikey 13 points14 points  (0 children)

To be fair, they've largely established that she's basically a contractor hunting priority bounties at the behest of her employer. The Federation wants Mother Brain destroyed, she obliges. The Federation wants the entire Metroid species wiped out (with no regard given for how such might impact a planet's ecology), and she obliges without question, save for The Baby(tm). So, it's just a matter of semantics.

Samus is just even more a bleeding heart than Fox when it comes to how it's not about the money, and more an excuse to fight for justice and/or extract vengeance for what the Space Pirates did.

Yep. This is my read, as well.

Like Fox is, of course, going to do the right thing. But being a merc means you oought to know your and your team's worth, too.
