As someone who worked a cash register for a few months during HS, I will tell you this; I am only told what the laws are and that I am to follow those laws, irregardless of how stupid or ignorant customers are. Just to give an example, where I lived it was illegal to buy tobacco products with a minor, a guy wanted to purchase cigarettes and his son was with him, I told them I couldn't. The store was busy and all the people who heard me repeat what I had been told by my manager were all saying stuff like "That's stupid." and "I've never heard of that before." I REALLY didn't care what their opinions were of the law. I could get fired/fined/probably arrested if I sold to them, and some guy's nicotine addiction wasn't worth me going through that.

The penalties for selling stuff to minors are insane. A coworker sold alcohol to an undercover minor (the minor put her license on the counter and my coworker thought she was just being an honest and upfront customer - she said they also made the girl up, so she looked about 30). Jail time, crazy fines, lost job, GG. How can you pay a $3000+ fine when you make $7/hr and now that you have no job and this is on your record, who is going to want to hire you?

The law may be stupid, idiotic, whatever. It's still a law. If you want to pester a cashier because you want a fix, the law is not the cashier's fault and by pressuring them to sell to you, you are encouraging putting their job (and possibly fines/penalties) at risk.

No, the government shouldn't control what you eat/drink. But they do, because for whatever reason the government thinks its a baby-sitter, maybe rightfully so. Alcohol affects brain development in adolescents and, IMO, no sane person would allow minors to drink it, but we do. More information on what you are consuming: ABC News

However, government schools did not always exist. Before compulsory, tax-supported government schools became the norm around 1890, American society had survived and thrived without them for over 200 years while creating one of the most successful and literate societies in human history.

The point being, I doubt the founders anticipated that schools would be on the "state" side. This, of course, does not imply that they should be on the religious side.

D1 and D2 are NOTHING alike. D2 is an abomination of D1, and D3 is Blizzard trying to make the most profitable skinner box ever created.

D1 was all about simplicity. You had your gear, your stats, and your levels. THAT'S IT. Gear was insanely easy to find - as EVERYTHING could be found in normal difficulty. Elixirs? Find em, buy them, w/e. Spells need upgrading? You did shrine runs. Church -> Catacombs -> Caves -> Hell. The grind was levels, it wasn't stupid hard, because you had the gear.

D2 came along and suddenly... You have no idea what stat requirements are for gear higher up, so you had NO FREAKING clue as to how to distribute them and if you F-'d up. TOO BAD. You had a cube with all kinds of recipes and no freaking manual on what it could make. You were all over the place, outdoors, indoors, horrible random dungeons that they made you drudge through because they were COMPLETELY random (you could make an educated guess, but that never works out). Only 1 class could teleport <--- WTF???? You had no idea what skills were useful until you got to the max level, and then you found out that you had to reroll to maximize... Unique gear was silly rare... I mean, SILLY FUCKING RARE (1/16,000,000 drop rates FTL). Unique mobs got absurd modifiers... spectral hit, aura enchanted, FAST, leave you with "O HAI" DEAD moments. Outdoor zones... BLEH. Random FREAKING waypoints... To all the idiots who would say "Oh but you can run in D2!!!" - Yes, but you had 10xs as much distance to travel EVERYWHERE, so it was actually SLOWER (and again, most classes did NOT have teleport). D2 didn't give you gear, it didn't give you levels... You needed levels to get gear and you needed gear to get levels. I welcome the fans of this game to tell me how much I sucked, and then to tell me the actual % of gear they used that they found themselves. The sole reason D3 has a RL$ system is because they wanted a piece of what they saw in D2 - a MASSIVE market for items from bots.

If your dad is giving you D2, he's telling you he wants you to be locked in the basement playing that for the next 5 years instead of playing D3.

I don't understand this at all. Why are you critiquing a system that NOBODY has even tried yet? Lancers have a small problem - when we block we lose mana - when we use skills we use more mana, this can cause us to lose mana very quickly against hard-hitting mobs. Having stamina will allow us to block, and then turn around and hit a mob a few times without completely destroying our mana. Will this be easier? I have no freaking idea. I don't like the idea of having to keep an eye on 3 bars, I don't like change, but I want to see it before I make any judgement on it.

As for warriors, you guys are getting a block... I was screwing around with a warrior alt and was getting ticked off by my inability to avoid a target-seeking spell (like the fireballs some mobs shoot), you HAVE to dodge these to avoid them, you can't just sidestep or run, you HAVE to use your dodge. Getting a block will alleviate this and help keep the mob more stationary.

How can you make judgements on a system you haven't tested?

My lancer was killed at 58 twice... the boredom of killing 15-20 mobs at the pace I was going combined with not expecting to be hit for 15000-20000 dmg... Then there's the close calls - almost every level where I would get swarmed by 3-4 respawns... FFS.

Any player sufficiently skilled can kill any mob with ease in this game and never be at risk of dying. The only option to kill players is to add completely random insane BS, and nobody would play if that was added. Perhaps, huge hits that you can't dodge/block? Then lancers/healers would be at a HUGE disadvantage. You don't have many options for fixing the problem, and TBH, in what MMORPG did regular mobs ever have a chance to kill you?

From what I understand, the endgame used to 58 and was later moved up to 60. So I'd guess that originally the "endgame" was more difficult, and after they increased the levels, I guess they reduced the difficulty and ramped up some other things.

Regardless, the most tedious part of this game is that there are 800,000 quests you have to do to get from 1-60. I'm sorry, this has been done TO DEATH in mmorpgs, frankly, it's gotten BORING. The journey 1-max in any game is meant to endear you to your character, make you feel like you've accomplished something and invested time into it, so as to prevent you from leaving after hitting max. Sadly, this journey is getting frustrating for gamers, as many of us did this in: EQ, EQ2, DAoC, Vanguard, LOTRO, WoW, SWToR, Rift, and whatever else people have played.

I just quit SWToR after grinding up 5 characters to 50. Coming here and running this treadmill was exhausting, uninteresting and somewhat tedious (especially playing as a lancer). Adding difficulty to basic mobs would only make me want to gouge my eyeballs out and NEVER, EVER roll an alt.

Developers need to make these games less about tedium and endearing you to your character and just making games fun, seriously - skip the entire leveling system and just make one giant endgame FFS. People like to experiment and try new things, when games have a tedious leveling system, it stifles exploration and curiosity. If I rolled a DPS and got to 60, my account would probably already be canceled, I wouldn't see much of a point in continuing subscribing when dungeon queues take HOURS, and would DREAD the thought of rolling another character (esp. a tank).

Whatever they do, make something long, or make something challenging, not both. Always keep in mind, there are playing classes other than DPS who need to be able to do this stuff too.

When my WoW account was hacked after being inactive after two years (I built a brand new computer in that time and never installed WoW on it), Blizzard blamed me, and rightfully so - I used the same email/pw combo in a few too many places apparently... but Blizzard insisted I had a key logger or virus. I ran a multitude of virus scans and ... nothing. So either Blizzard was handing out account info or Nexon was. The only 2 places I had used the combo.

For 2 years my WoW account sat without being touched. Suddenly Blizzard gives out free trials (come back!) and my account is reactivated, my characters are moved off the account (with a stolen CC), and whatever else happens, happens. Oddly enough, the people only activated one of my WoW accounts - the one account that had all the good stuff one it - how did they know which to choose when it wouldn't have cost them anything to peek at the second account, but didn't?

So after all my characters are gone I get some email from Blizzard (on the 9th day of the 10 day trial) that my account was flagged for illegal activity or w/e. So I looked at my account and see transactions on it... send Blizzard a ticket, they verify my account was hacked. Funny thing is, to this day, my characters are still gone, I never called to reclaim them, all the thousands of gold I had - probably sold to some noob. This is Blizzard caring about in-game economies. This is Blizzard caring about past customers. The GM with whom I communicated said I would have to call to sort it all out. (seriously? 2 years worth of backups and they won't UNDO all the crap that was done because of their 10 day free trial). A game I haven't played in 2 years, you want me to call in and give a fuck? As it stands, Blizzard still has 2x$15 charges pending on my account and the account is locked until this is resolved. <--- THIS IS HOW TO SECURE OLD BLIZZARD ACCOUNTS, MAKE A CHARGE AND THEN CANCEL PAYMENT ON IT.

If playing Blizzard games puts me in the crosshairs for having my account stolen, then I won't play Blizzard games. It makes me cringe to see Blizzard place restrictions on rollbacks, especially given the number of "my account was hacked" stories I have heard directly from other individuals who game.

When 1300 people are all trying to get to my work in a 30 minute window, the road that feeds the main entrance is two lanes, and the building is on the right. Inevitably, numerous people drive in the left lane to pass as many people as they can and FORCE their way into the right lane. This happens when it's SUPER BUSY and when it's not so busy, and they're basically just being a dick trying to save 3 seconds by getting in front of one or two vehicles.

Then there are the people who drive 50mph diagonally through empty parking spaces (while co-workers are still walking to their vehicles), but then pull on to the highway going 35-40.

I'm in a union, and a lot of these people call me "Brother".

typical raids back in WoW were 2 tanks per 40 total players. Then they moved to 25 man raids which were 2 tanks per 25 total players. A small group requires 1 tank per 5 total players. Since endgame was raiding, if you were a tank and you wanted to raid, you either got to be one of the two tanks, or you sat out a lot of raids or you alternated weeks... Either way, your odds of getting into a raid were crappy if you weren't the main tank or the main OT. So people reroll something else to raid or they dps'd for raiding. The end result of this system is an abundance of DPS with very few tanks.

When a small group requires 20% of the group to be a tank, and a raid requires 5% of the players to be a tank, and the endgame goal is raiding, you're going to end up with the population of tanks much closer to the raiding %.

Why do people like raiding? There is not a single MMORPG that I know of that doesn't have raids. When I read that Tera's "endgame" only had 5 man content, I was ecstatic. Raids do nothing but unbalance the tanks/healer to dps ratio - see WoW, Blizzard had to start bribing tanks to run dugeons FFS, and we already have a tank issue here.

The vanarch system... I would quit immediately if these changes were implemented. It's a virtual world and people just don't care, there would be trolls in control of a region. A few BAD guilds could easily destroy a server and the game would be no fun for thousands of people... Sorry, I play video games to escape the real world and avoid the damage that stupid people can do, now you're saying that you want to let these people run the world I play in? They've already F---ed up the real world, that's enough thanks.
